It looks like there is a mass storage mode capability. But you can't access it on the phone itself. This looks like a registry hack on the computer that is running the Zune software.

Has anyone here tried this yet?
Yep, works fine but doesn't work when Zune is running.

Hi!
Can anyone tell me if X2 finally supports USB Mass storage mode with MR2? If not, I'm really going to be upset.
Thanks
didnt it always? though it was REALLY SLOW
not in the same way that the X1 had. ive not noticed any new mass storage feature. still looks like you have to connect to activesync first.

Thanks. That su*ks a big way. Actually I think this doesn't conform to the definition of "USB Mass Storage".
no it doesnt. but its the only way to access the memory card. to be honest its not too bad. i plug in my X2. then i go into "my computer" and its listed in there and i can browse to the memory card same as the X1. the downside is when you transfer stuff to your pc its slower because it uses activesync. no idea why they couldnt let us access the card directly. probably a way to force us to use their software.
Have you tried to use WM5Storage v1.9 (or some other versions)? I heard that it works on X2

Is it possible to develop a compatible generic USB driver for our beloved SSGS? It would be cool to just plug in your SSGS to any PC or car stereo and get recognized without downloading the driver first. SSGS is incompatible with everything...
mass storage doesn't work for you?
Yeah was gonna say that too....
The only time I've loaded drivers was to use odin other than that I've just plugged it in??
It does'nt work with car stereo ;(
Most MP3 audio system thingy uses generic driver so... it doesn't work. Sorry, I guess it works on other PCs with the mass storage switched on but not the car radio systems or similar systems. I have a Honda Jazz/Fit - debug mode, mass storage, media player mode... don't work. It says "unsupport".
Moto Milestone is compatible with most MP3 audio system. Is there a way to extract that driver?
I'm pretty sure that is not a driver problem but something that relates to the USB-Controller in the SGS. It is a different one than the one in the Milestone/Droid and thus the driver's won't work. It also means that a "native" mass storage mode is most likely impossible
I do think the mass storage on sgs is generic mass storage like every commercial USB drive. None of my Windows machine requires special drivers to mount the partitions on PC.
Anyway, drivers are supposedly to be loaded on host, not the phone. Even if you wrote a driver which works, you will have to find ways to load into your audio system, which is likely not possible.
P.s. Upon selecting mass storage when prompted, did you pull down the notification bar and click on mount? Otherwise it would be just an unloaded drive to the host.

Hello,
I would like to ask to you if anybody know how to connect Point Of View Mobii 10.1 Tablet (it is same like Advent Vega) to PC with SD card like mass storage.
USB driver is installed.
OS is Win7 64bit.
Official ROM 1.10.
USB debugging is enabled.
But when I connect tablet to PC I can not see any notification about connection (in tablet or in PC nothing).
Thx a lot.
I have found it easier to give up juggling with USB to transfer data and now use Android Manager over WiFi. If this is an option for you, have a look here - http://global.mobileaction.com/download/android.jsp
It looks good
It looks good, I will test it ...
But basically I would like to use my tablet like standard mass storage. For example at home, office or somewhere alse with USB cable.
Thanks for your hint.
So the mtp app data started reaching over 26 megs, and with the terrible internal storage on this phone, I decided to clear it. Now, media transfer mode doesn't work on my computer (Win 7 x64). I've tried reinstalling the driver, but it fails (but it worked before the clear).
Has anyone else experienced this? Mass storage mode still works.
I should also add, media transfer mode usually would take a few minutes, before the clear, before it actually did show up, when it worked.
I guess this should serve as a lesson to others of what not to do
Hi!
Is there already any way to fix the problem with the Xperia Play when it plugs into a PC in MTP mode and Windows can't install the driver or just doesn't allow to get in the folders of your phone?
Odd, it should just work with plug&play. Maybe you need the android sdk installed?
The Android SDK shouldn't be necessary and obviously doesn't do anything with this.
I want to use the mobile as MTP device and not a mass storage one, and Windows 7 van¡t install the proper driver, or if it installs it than sometimes doesn't detect the Xplay or takes very very veeeery long to detect it.
Any help?
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bits user.
This problem has been there a long time, and I still haven't figured it out.
Your best shot is to continue using it as a mass storage device.
This issue is absurd. USB code 10 or whatever.
The only way around it is to use XP.
I was updating my motorola xoom a while a go and half way through the update the usb driver would kack itself.
The only solution is to try out a different usb port and hope that it works.
Update windows media play to 11 it should be fixed, worked for me at least
I just live with it and waiiiiiiit until it connects (long time sometimes).
If I just want to transfer files, I switch to mass storage mode, as the transfers are much much faster that way.
Yeah, I think it is a problem with sd cards above 16gbs. The driver takes over thirty seconds to read that data and then quits. It used to work every time like a charm, when I used an 8gb sd card, but after buying a 32gb one and filling it half way, now it never reads. Kinda sucks if you want to connect the phone through your wireless router the way it was designed to too. It just won't work whatsoever. Gotta use non native apps for that, which sometimes I do not like, because I like the phone to be cohesive and every little bit of app storage space I can get makes the phone run more smoothly.
