I did the same thing yesterday. My solution was to just flash the dbdata.rfs from the JJ4.tar file. I did this as I was trying not to flash something that would wipe out my /sdcard partition. It worked and I didn't loose any data. 4 hours of failed flashing had me worried for a while

Hello,
Do you wipe cache partition after a flash?
If not, when is best to do it?
My phone has been stuck on the Samsung logo for 5-6 days now.
Thank you,

wrong place to post bud..
Run the voodoo uninstaller.zip and then wipe data and cache.
Since you can't get into cwm, flash the pit and system through Odin first then the kernel and finally cwm. After that just apply uninstaller and wipe data and cache

These suggestions would be nice but I can't get into download mode and I can't dab push the uninstaller.zip either

wow i feel like such a retard.... i just discovered that u can actually take off the back of the phone lol.
Yeah that helps
okay i actually got everything restored now
but i have one new problem... i keep getting an error that my sdcard was removed... then i have to take it out and put it back in and then reboot... then like 10 minutes later it does it again.
I was using my mytouch 4g rooted and everything running the virtuous fusion rom when it shut off. When I tried to reboot the phone but it just went to the mytouch 4g screen and froze. I took the battery out and tried again several times but the same result was the phone being stuck at the mytouch 4g logo. I can get into the recovery but when I try to boot the rom up again it just says installation aborted. I also tried to run another rom (RoyalGinger) but it still froze at the mytouch 4g logo. I am very nervous, is my phone bricked?
Thank you for any answers possible,
Justin
Are you getting cache errors in recovery? Try wiping the cache partition for example, and see if that completes successfully. If you get the typical cache errors, that means your eMMC has failed and unfortunately the phone is indeed bricked.
Post your bootloader info please, that might help solve this

Cache errors?
I too am having cache errors....any solution to fix the issue? I cant flash anything, but I can get into fastboot just fine.
Teejay - question for you since I have read alot of your posts concerning cache errors....in mohammeds case, since he does have the engineering bootloader, cant he use fastboot to flash the stock pd15img.zip and get rid of cache errors? As long as he does not have fail pu? I believe I read of members successfully doing that in the emmc thread....It seems logical to be able to do that, reroot, and reflash cwm recovery but i could be wrong...

That's the only solution, but unfortunately in most cases it has not worked. Sometimes they get the "Fail-PU" error when flashing PD15IMG, and sometimes even though it seems to flash successfully, the phone still bootloops and produces cache errors in recovery. I think I've read only one or two accounts of the phone becoming usable again once those cache errors appear in recovery. However, I've read probably a dozen or more accounts of nothing working.

Yeah sorry man, but there's no hope at that point.
I am having the same issue. I loaded Beast Version 4 on mine. It was working fine and then it froze. I pulled the battery put it back in powered it on and it booted to the loading screen for the ROM (Green Android guy) I then pulled the battery again. Booted and it froze at the MT4G screen. So I botted into the Hboot. I run the wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. Which both say success (Data Wife Complete,Cache Wipe Complete) and then its like it is trying to run recovery but it says:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/log
E: Cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/last_log
Is this the cache errors you were talking about? Also when I tried to re-inatll the ROM it gives me an error but when I try re-loading Royal Ginger it loads it fine no errors.. Until I try to go back to previous screen to reboot then I get the error as seen above. I reboot and then it stops again at the MT4G splash screen. Am I bricked.. or is there fix for this. And if so is it the one listed above or is my issue slightly different.
Please help - Crossed Fingers.
I'm sorry, I know it sucks, but the phone is bricked. You can try restoring back to stock using this thread. Rename that file to PD15IMG.zip, put it in the root of your SD, and boot into the bootloader. If the file flashes successfully, there might be hope, but if you get the Fail-PU error, then it's definitely done.
OK thank you for your help. Crossing fingers but betting I am finicio :-(
I am very sorry to be bothersome. I clicked the link and it took me to a place to download the file (File Factory), but the file to download isnt there. Has it been move and by chance will you post the link to it. Again I am sorry.
I'm fairly sure that the file in this thread is the same file, and appears to be still available for download. Give that one a try.
Thank you again I am downloading now. Also it is highly appreciative how quickly you have responded. Again thank you so much.

Sure thing, I hope it works for you. If not and you have T-Mobile insurance, most people have had no problem exchanging their phones for a new one when this happens. Also, don't forget to hit the thanks button if I've been helpful.
Yeah did any of you use the Gfree method of rooting? Because that's the one
I used.
So was attemting to rom this phone for a friend.. N thought I knew what I was doing.. As ive done nexus s, fascinate and my current charge.. on all those phones anytime b4 u flash a rom u wipe the big 3.. Well tried factory reset in yellow cwm and fail "couldnt unmount data" and froze on last step.. I let it sit for 15 minutes b4 pulling battery do rebooted in2 cwm wipe cache and dalvik. they worked but everytime I did anything in cwm it gave me like a report on everything that failed when I had to pull battery.. So went ahead and flashed ec07.. And everything seems to b alright?? so I sent him home with it... Baseband version says sch i400 ec06 though.. But data n everything is working.. ide like some thoughts on whether yall think,i should let it go.. Or start all over.. As its not my phone?

It's gonna say EC06. He's good.
one more thing.. he just called and said he cant download anything from the market.. and internal phone storage is spiking to hardly anything free???
which version of market is he running? Has he tried to do a factory reset, now that the rom is installed? That may fix it.
should he do it from cwm?? cause it wouldnt work for me?? and if he just does a factory reset now and doesnt flash rom after wouldnt he get force closes like crazy.. correct me if im wrong as im not sure.. but ive run into that b4

If ec07 is on the phone, then it will just factory reset to ec07 as it was flashed, before any changes were made. I think the problem is that you did the reset when you had the old rom on there, and not the new one... I might be wrong, but if he resets, then wipes dalvik and cache partition, it should work.

well that should explain it.. so since every time i boot to recovery i have to re apply the update.zip.. should i just remove current one from sd card and use red?? i thought i followed directions decently.. i orginally flashed red on 2.1 then relized thats a bad idea so i flashed yellow.. as seen in this post it says its for froyo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230072
thank you all for the quick response.. i cant even get answers in the charge forums.. lol
Yeah. Considering the fact that he didn't have the phone there anymore, I was hoping that it would be doable as is... but you may have to reflash with red, ace... I guess try mine, unless you can get the phone back, and if that doesn't work use this tut.

and while your there, hit ciscogee's thanks button... it gives him a warm and fuzzy
i hooked him up... and THATS THE GUIDE I USED!! im just stoopid didnt read this " 5. should be in cwm red (its not a legend anymore)" and researched a lil too much and everyone was talking about yellow so when it came up red.. i went hunting for yellow.. guess i should use one guide instead of mixing ten together.. bahaha.. hes bringing phone over tomorrow
Eh, cap happens. It isn't a paperweight, so it's all good, right?

first, make sure that eco7_clean.zip is on your sdcard and that you have flashed the ec07 modem and kernel via odin
simply take the update.zip that has the red cwm, and place it on the sd card. don't try to flash it via odin. then reboot into recovery. the second line will say apply sdcard:update.zip select it using the softkey where the menu would be (it won't be lit up.)
just make sure that the update.zip that contains yellow is off the sdcard before you do.
from there, you can select install zip from sdcard, using the volume rockers and the power key, then choose zip from sdcard.
select ec07_clean.zip then yes.
after it's installed, wipe dalvik and regular cache and reboot.
i got it figured out.. for some reason my stock recovery was 3e.. i just odined 2.2.2 stock.. then flashed kernal updated cwm wiped the big 3.. and its pimping... thank you sooooooo much dude.. for reall... words and clicking thanks cant being to show my appriciation
Mine boots into CwM yellow from rom manager then i just install zip from sd and choose updatered .zip....

Whats up guys I have a Sprint Tab. It's not working anymore.
First off, I'm not an expert, or even half way expert. But I do follow walk through instructions well.
Initially, I was using the tab with GB 2.3 rooted and pretty much stock.
After a while I decided to put Cyanogenmod on it to improve my tab experience. It worked for about a month and a half, and then I ran into some problems with it. It started to reboot and get stuck at the boot screen and got no further. I tried upgrading to a newer build of Cyanogenmod but that kept getting stuck too. After trying different builds and a whole bunch of other things I realized that it wasn't going to work.
I figured it was an issue with Cyanogenmod and CWM.
Anyway, I decided to sell the tab and get a Galaxy S3 so I wanted to return it to stock.
I tried Heimdall one-click and Odin to get it back to stock. Guess what? No success.
The Tab initially had the Sprint Splash screen. And it is sitting here next to me stuck at the samsung screen just looping. Pretty useless.
What is the problem? Again I am far from an expert, I do NOT know what to try next.
Any suggestions?
Hey,
Your Tab did not work after new build is probably because of incorrect 'upgrade' procedures. The early CM9 build was based on a non-MTD partition system. The later build is based on an MTD partition system. You would need to restock to GB 2.3.3 going from a Non-MTD to an MTD rom.
Now that you want to re-stock, you will need
CDMA stock ROM 2.3.3 (preferable than the 2.3.5 or 6)
correct .pit file
dbdata.rfs
Flash the CDMA stock ROM while re-partition with the .pit file you have. (re-partition is a MUST going from ICS back to stock 2.3.3).
Once you are done flashing and re-partition, do a factory reset data wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe. see if you can do those successfully. If you get a mounting error message (most likely you will, and you will still be stuck at SAMSUNG boot loop), proceed.
Flash separately a dbdata.rfs from the CDMA stock rom you have (extract it from the ROM package and create a separate .tar for flashing or you can search in XDA). Reboot back to recovery and do another all wipes. This should take care of your problem (Hopefully).
you can do all those using heimdall or ODIN.
I hope this helps.
ill try that, thanks. But one thing.... I know you said improper installation of CM9 could cause this. But how come out of the blue it happened and not the first time I did the installation of it?
I definitely remember all the steps at least 9-10 times before I did the upgrade. So I don't think I missed anything at all. Maybe I did, maybe I didn't .
Not sure what to make of it.
ok guys I tried the dbdata.rfs flash
didn't work either.
when I booted into recovery mode, I keep seeing
E: failed to mount /cache
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: copy_kernel_file :: Can't open /cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log
So those are the three error messages that I am getting.
What can cause these errors?
