I tried to sbf, it got done and rsd said phone has to be powered up manually. So i tried to turn it on and all it does is boot loop. My computer wont pick it up. Since its not rooted can i boot into recovery? What do i do?
Got it into bootloader and sbf'd again. Still boot loopin. What do I do? Someone please help me!!!
Wipe data and cache from the stock recovery.
1. Pull your battery.
2. Turn on your phone while holding the 'up' arrow on the keyboard
3. Hold until you are in stock recovery.
4. Press the magnifying glass on the keyboard to see the menu
5. Select data wipe and then cache wipe (using the volume buttons. or arrow keys and the camera or 'ok' button to select)
6. Then reboot system and you should be good to go.
Also how did you sbf?

You have to borrow somebody's charged battery. Or find a way to get yours charged because the phone won't charge without some software running.
Once you get a working battery try the steps I gave you to get into stock recovery if you would like/need more help with any of the steps just let me know.
(the D1's battery will work if you have a friend with a D1. I don't know about the DX though.)

Did you try to SBF while running a ROM? I think its best be rooted stock at least to SBF. I had problems SBFing if I wasn't stock.
ok, i got a battery. but when i try to use the up arrow and power button to get into recovery it just goes into bootloader. i sbf'd from fission 2.2.1. so yea, i was runnin a rom. ive never had so much trouble messin with a phone before. i know its not bricked but i am getting frustrated...
BOOM!!! Got it baby!! OK, so its x and power to boot into stock recovery. Worked like a charm! And on the bright side, i scored a D1 for 100. I needed a battery, buddy had a nearly perfect droid...hooked it up

i recently tried to install matt's epic unleashed 3.0 rom. the install completed and all, but when my phone booted up the touch screen wasnt working. ive booted into the stock recovery and erased everything but it still does the same thing. is there any way for me to sbf my phone?
Don't have too much knowledge of that ROM, but I still want to throw in my two cents... When you turn on the phone hold the "up" arrow key and it should go into the bootloader screen and be ready for an spf.
thanks man thats exactly what i needed
edit- nope, nevermind. it boots to the flash screen but when i connect it to my computer it says the device malfunctioned on my computer screen
yea, this is bad. its not sbfing, rsdlite doesnt complete, any ideas guys?
Ok after it says "failed" or whatever is it going into bootloops? Try powering on and holding the "X" key and then you should get the android with the triangle symbol. Press the "search" key on the keyboard and wipe cache and factory reset. Then reboot and you should be all set.

Hi,
Was given a Defy by a mate who thinks he has bricked it and replaced it already. I’m hoping I can get it working again. Hopefully with your help this might be possible.
These are the facts:
1> Current phone state: Motorola logo on screen and nothing else happens. I’m able to get into the bootloader(Power + Volume Up), but not able to get into recovery(Power + Volume Down)
2> Previous firmware version is unknown. All I know is the phone was bought through T-mobile UK.
3> My mate has tried to install various .sbf files(3.4.2-177 nordic Blurless Thread & 3.4.3-11 UK Tmobile Blur Thread & 3.4.3-3 UK Tmobile Blur Thread & 2.51.1 UK - Blur ROM Thread) onto the phone and still the phone stays in the same state.
So I don’t know where to start or what to try really, as I assumed all I would need to do is install a previous .sbf. I read it could have to do with the battery being empty, but I have a external charger and know the battery is full.
Any advice would be great, please help. I have also read other threads, but they do not have the same issues and are able to get there phones working past the point i'm at.
Thanks
same thing happened to my defy today, when I decided to try out CM7 while on a 3.4.2.117-005 nordic. Basically it's F'd up!
When I tried installing CM7 beta 6 zip from recovery, it got installed, but the phone was too damn slow to be used, So I flashed 177-005's sbf again and after completion it got stuck in boot at the Android Text.
Then i flashed with a 3.4.3.11_BLUR_signed sbf and still it's stuck at the Moto Logo.
please help someone, its my new phone..

Yea, I have tried it every configuration possible and no Android Robot appears… I have even asked my mate and partner to do it to make sure it is just not me…
Could this be the first official “Bricked” Defy? I hope not, was worth a try and assume this is why my mate wanted to get rid of it….
Thanks again for all the advice.

@jdearauj just a curiosity, what operative system you use on your computer?
i asked you, because if you have win vista, rsd-lite not worked always very well with this OS....if you have xp or seven its good!
endless bootloop M logo
ok maybe this will help...
quickly remove battery before it gets drained...
now do this,i call it the "monkey method"
>on my left hand i hold my defy without the battery in,
>press the volume up+power at the same time...
now i quickly slip the battery in w/ my right hand & stay a few seconds..it took me to the stock recovery-factory reset & it took me to stock SBF rom & ready to reflash cm7 again.
follow this,its all in here...

So I got a replacement phone that came with GB and I'm trying to flash a froyo SBF so that I can do a nandroid restore. After flashing, I'm stuck at the red M screen. Before I've had to wipe data and clear cache and that seemed to fix things and the phone would boot. To get into recovery before, you would boot up holding down pwr+menu to get the yellow triangle w/ the ? screen, then press search. Pressing search doesn't do anything now. Any ideas?

He's right about the SBF. However if you see the android, you are already in recovery. Pressing both volume buttons only shows the menu.
Hey guys, I need your help. My phone battery died and the phone wouldn't boot past the M screen. I could get to bootloader but not recovery. So I SBFd. Same issue. Here is what I've done, I'm at my wits end.
1. Put phone in bootloader
2. Connected it, recognized by pc, used RSD 5.44 to flash .602
3. RSD says please manually power up the phone. Disconnect USB. (Also tried with usb still connected)
4. Battery pull, put it back in bootloader
5. Re connected, RSD says pass.
6. Pulled battery, tried to restart, same stuck at M screen issue.
7. Can't access recovery. Sometimes it will get there, but it won't let me access the menu.
8. Tried pressing both volume buttons a million times, nothing.
9. Once, menu in recovery flashed up, but disappeared immediately.
10. Put it back into bootloader and SBF'd again, with redownloaded file.
11. Repeat all of this 3x.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG! HELP!
Make sure your battery is charged and SBF using the Linux method.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
So you think the SBF's aren't working for some reason? Should I still be using .602 or should I try .340?
Downloading the linux iso now...
Okay, sbf'd with linux method, same issue.
I can get to recovery by holding down the home and power buttons and then hitting the vol up/down buttons. It won't bring me to recovery unless i actually hit the volume buttons. Once in recovery, it doesn't respond to the volume buttons being pressed so I can't pull up the menu.
Any ideas?
What rom were you using when this happened?

If you were on stock .621, you have to SBF to .621.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
It was stock .605, I had to SBF back in march.
I guess my issue now is this: I can sometimes get to the recovery screen, but the menu never appears. I've tried pressing the search button and hitting vol. up/down at the same time, and I haven't once gotten the menu to pop up so I can clear data.
Is there some way to wipe cache through adb using the bootloader?
I accidentally,... . unknowingly wiped the RED "system" button in Safestrap 3.12 on my Droid RAZR M today. (I was suppose to be wiping the cash and dalvik, but missed) I'm a retard I know. :crying:
Now I cant get into AP Fastboot to restore the phone from this hard brick!
When I press the power button along with the volume buttons, the only thing that happens is the red Motorola 'M" appears for a few seconds then the safe strap screen appears with the little sad robot, but that's it no AP Fastboot. Pressing the on screen buttons to enter Safestrap Recover do not respond. Oh boy I'm afraid I really did it this time. Its on the charger but i don't know if its even charging with out as OS?
Battery power was at 60% before i bricked it (i think). RSD Lite or my PC for that matter don't even see the phone when its plugged in.
Can this be saved? Or do I need to take a trip down to the Verizon Wireless store?

4.1.2 OTA

Locked Bootloader
Safestrap 3.12
Partitioned 64GB SD card utilizing Linked2SD

Try holding power & volume down until the screen flickers then hold power and both volume buttons. You gotta be quick
If your boot loader is locked you won't be able to fast boot back until the new fast boot files come out though if your on 4.1.2

This thread saved my life, then killed me. The suggestion about the different keys was spot on, i got into fast boot mode, then ran that utility. It totally failed me, I must have killed my phone pretty dead, and now there are no more key combos (the suggested one worked at first but now its just making the screen go blank) to try to get back into fast boot to try again. any more suggestions? on the up side verizon just pushed that update so i figure i can blame that to attempt an exchange
Did you take the update before using that utility? If you did, which version did you use? If you were already updated, then you needed to run 1.20. If you ran the wrong utility, that will cause issues. Now, since you can't boot, it sounds like your battery is dead. When you get to the blank screen, plug it in and leave it to charge for a while.
I'm no expert by any means but I'll try to help as best i can. If not me I'm confident someone else will. Now, I apologize because I didn't understand your original post.
Could you elaborate a little more please?
1. What were you trying to do with your phone prior to things going wrong, if they went wrong at all.
2. you mentioned AP Fastboot. So IM going to assume that at least you can access it. (not the same problem that I was having) that's a good thing! lol
3. Are you utilizing a utility like the one by Matt? Or are you doing something else? Like flashing firmware etc.
4. What were you in Fastboot for? What were your intentions?
I hope this doesn't come over a condescending. Just trying to get a Clearer understand of your issue so we can help.

I changed 2 lines in my build.prop file so i could see if I could get touchless control.
After I changed it, I restarted my phone. Now it is stuck in the Red M Boot, and it stays there, dosent black screen, dosent boot. I can get to the boot selection menu, but i cant choose anything, they all end up at the Red M. I Read that I can fix it in AP Fastboot, but I can get there. Also if i force it off (with power button and volume button) It just goes back to the Red M.
Everything I do ends up at the Red M

Holding the combination of buttons will only cause it to reboot, every time. Holding the power button down will make it shutdown. With that being said, what was your battery like before you started all of this? If it's below 50%, you're going to have a hard time. Shut the phone down and charge the battery ovenight, prior to attempting to fastboot.
If your battery is good, then you can fastboot. Hold all three buttons down, until you get the phone to power off. As soon as power goes off, you'll see a quick line flash at the top of the screen. As soon as you see this flash, quickly let go of the power button and then re-press it. If you got it right, you'll go into the fastboot menu. If you got it wrong, it will attempt to reboot. If it reboots, just try the button combo again. Once you get into the fastboot menu, use the vol- key to get to the option you need, and then hit the vol+ to choose that option.
