Does anyone else experince Voice search not working stating" Cant hear anything ". When it does work it adds additional words to your spoken request. The only thing to correct this is a Soft Reset. Is Microsoft aware?
It looks like a Samsung Issue, after using a 3.5mm headphone/mic connector the voice search doesn't work. Samsung is aware of this isssue.
Thanks!!.. I thought it was me
Not just voice search. Anything that uses the phone's mic will not work. "Shazam, for example"
I myself have contacted samsung about this, so its in their system somewhere. Another user said that after making a call, that the functionality was restored.

Does anyone know if there will be any progress getting bluetooth headsets to voice dial with the Android OS? From what I've seen, Google has been very lax in pushing forward with this much needed capability. They have not even added it in version 2.1.
Is there any way that a workaround can be implemented? I have been holding off getting an Android phone for this very reason.
I apologize if this topic has been posted elsewhere.

Try Voice Dialer HF. Not perfect but works very well.

Interesting, but i'm not able to found it in market...... any ideas?
Tia
Idk
The Verizon Devour and the Canadian Droid on Telus, called the Milestone, have Bluetooth initiated voice dialing by a company called Nuance. The built-in Android/Google voice recognition has had it's BTVD disabled because it only doesn't perform well with a Bluetooth headset but is apparently adequate with the phones mic. I wish someone would use the ROMs from those phones to add this feature to the Droid or Incredible but so far no one has. It'd even be cool to see if someone could compile a ROM for Android that flips the switch in the code just so people can try it out. Or better yet, fix whatever problem there is with the quality of Bluetooth voice so that the built-in Android voice recognition could handle it. Man, I want to get rid of my Devour but I can't until I can safely use these killer phones in my car.

This whole issue is like deja vu for those of us that were old-timers with Windows Mobile, which also didn't support VD via the BT headset. And ironically, the excuse given by Microsoft was exactly the same: that voice quality wasn't good enough for voice recognition when using a BT headset. However, MS somehow managed to magically solve this -- voice dial via BT is now supported in WM and works great.
So I have to think that Google's bright engineers could do the same thing if it became a priority. It's obviously not, and won't be unless users really start complaining loudly enough. That's exactly what it took to get action from MS, too.

Development thread for a software method to morph your voice during a phone call
The idea is to develop a software method which let's you morph your voice during a phone call. There are many ways to achieve this and I am amenable to suggestions.
Since I was not able to find any API which let's you configure the voice or the stream from the microphone or something similar I came up with the idea to write a driver for the microphone, which would give me the ability to change my voice directly within it, but after some research it was clear to me that it can't be that easy.
Updates:
05.05.2010 - Microphone driver solution died. Researching for a new way...
Windows Mobile doesn't seem to have any influence on the microphone during a phone call. Deeper research about the hardware of the phone is necessary (processors, DSP/MDSP,....).
HELP IS APPRECIATED AND ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME
I will update this thread as some news appear.
Please write your suggestions and your ideas directly as post in this thread.
The IDEA is cool i dont know how to help you, maybe i cant but the IDEA is really Cool and soft like this will be awesome.
There on the Market Already have some Apps to Morping your voice but none of them can Morph in real time durring a phone call so this is most importmantly you can call someone with complete diferent voice LOL
The most importmantly for soft like this is to be simple and to work Fast.
+3 this would so R0CK!
anything new?
chinese phones have this feature in almost all model, these phones operate on their custom made firmwares, if anyone can explore these thoroughly, you will definitely get positive results. I have seen this feature on these phones and they do morph voice in realtime, they have feature of both fast and slow, where it becomes impossible to recognize the caller's voice. I dont know how they do it and these phones are very very cheap and almost all of them are dual sim.
Just a suggestion

this would kick ass! ^^
As it says.
I have an HCB 150 BT car kit which has workred well with other SE phones and it imported/used the phones phone book and allowed BT voice dialling Safe and legal.
X10 connects easily and reliably but no phonebook available (is this PBAP?) Thinks bum! but OK I can live with that as voice dialling is available. Er. apparantly not
Can't believe that a flagship phone can't do these things even worse the documentation does not make these issues clear.
I really like the phone BUT had I known this I would have waited.
I hope (really really really) that it will be the subject of an update.
Leaving BT aside has anyone got the voive dialler to work? I can't. It does not seem to be able to recognise anything.........................dimwit ding.
Oh, and battery life sucks - I know i've read the thread..........all of it.
I tried it once.. and failed.. but thought nothing of it as I wasn't really bothered to use it.. never really had a lot of success with voice dialling on any handset i've had... so I downloaded oftseen gestures which allow you to swipe a gesture to call someone.. I've used that for my main numbers..
No good for driving though................................................
What about that phone book access...........can you help?
Voice dialing using a bluetooth device is not supported by Android 1.6. I don't know whether 2.1 does, but it is one of the major drawbacks of Android devices.
Tons of complains about this feature that Google somehow failed to do. This is specially bad in places where it is illegal to hold a phone while driving.
Edit: Did a search. Apparently, 2.1 does not support bluetooth dialing either. Some people found a solution by using bluetooth headsets that store the contact list in the headset.
Is that 2.1 that shifts the phonebook to the headset? Or is 1.6 supposed to be able to do it?
Help, about to crash whilst attempting to illegally dial..................
Google feels a law suit coming on.............
Bump..............
I meant that I found somewhere, someone stated that there are some bluetooth headsets that store the phone list in the headset's own memory and it is the headset itself that recognizes your voice and instructs the phone to dial. I have searched the web and can't find such a device.
I don't think you will find an answer here or anywhere. You can go to a Google hosted forum and complain over there. This issue has been around since the first Android phone, and I am like you, at a loss why Google can't write a piece of software to deal with this.
Thanks vistador. I assume that in the US hands free is mandatory whilst driving, in which case I foresee law suits against Google?Android for not providing somehting that has been readily available for years.
How do i COMPLAIN DIRECTLY TO gOOGLE?
Wanting to get a Captivate, but have one concern about moving to Android. I was in a Verizon store looking at a Droid X they had, and it may have been lack of experience of thet salesman, but he couldn't demo good voice dial.
I am very accustomed to my Microsoft Voice Command on my old WinMO phone.
I can have my blue tooth headset on, or speaker in teh car, and push a button on headset or speaker and say:
"Call <name> on Mobile", or "Call <name> at home". and it does it. No pressing on phone screen or any other keys.
I frequent too many forms I guess. I posted a qusstion like this, but can't find it. Someone said that I should get Vlingo. Butwhile the site says you can call our contacts by voice, they don't really show it on their video. In fact a lot of what their video shows (not everything) can be done, from what I understand, natively on Android.
If you still have to validate by punching anything on the phone, it pretty much doesn't do what I am looking for. A
Can anyone provide feedback on this?
BTW, I also really like being able to punch the button and say "PLay Jazz", and listen to music. Not having this is not a show stopper, but it is another feature I really enjoy.
Thanks for your thoughts.
So nobody can tell me that voice dial works well like MSVC...
Not very encouraging to look to Android then.
Maybe I need to investigate iPhone after all. Of course, if it's the same with that...not sure what I'll do.

Although not exactly what you asked, I can say that BT voice dialing doesn't work on this phone, but it will once it gets the 2.2 update.
The only high end Android phone with 2.1 that has BT voice dialing is the Motorola Droid X because they included the Nuance software which enables the BT voice dialing.
Thanks for that feedback. Hmmmm....2.2 huh.
Do you know if that means even with Vlingo, no voice dialing?
Boy, its a tough decision. I really want one of these, but I'm so used to easy hands free dialing on my OLD slow phone, I just don't know if I can be happy without that.
Its not because its fancy, its because it is so convenient, and definitely safer when driving. If I don't have a number in the phone that I want to call that I can use voice on, I just don't call when driving.
Of course, I guess there are those that would argue that even with voice dialing, you shouldn't be on the phone in a car.
ive never needed to use voice call.. but why dont u just hit the voice button on the phone and say "call..... xyz" to dial the number.

It might work well speaking into the mic on the phone itself but using it through BT won't work.

So does that mean you never use the phone while driving? Even if thats the case, once you experience the convenience of it, you'll miss it if it is gone.
Also, youmay read my post again, you may realize I don't have the phone yet. Wanting this information to use in my decision making process.

Thanks. That would be better than nothing.
For some reason, pressing the phone button on my Bluetooth headset (Scala Rider), will not launch google now, or any other app on my LG G2. It seems like the phone do not recognize the headset as handsfree kit.
Anyone has an idea how to solve this issue? I’ve checked the headset set with some other phones (GALAXY 3, Optimus G) and it worked fine.
thanks,
same problem here

Hi, I have the same issue! I've been searching for a solution for a while without success.
I have contacted the LG support and they confirm to me that there is no voice call function through bluetooth headsets.
My model is LG G2 (Stock SW Version D80210a-EUR-XX).
The following are the attempts have made:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476080&page=5 (post 43)
NOTE: I have Google Now instead of Google search and I use Cyberon Voice Commander instead of Voice Dialer
-I've tried Bluetooth Launch
-I've tried VoiceDialerLauncher.apk (Post 10 Quote: "It is because phone launch MIC_VOICE_COMMAND intent action instead of VOICE_COMMAND. I wrote small application that intercept MIC_VOICE_COMMAND and run VOICE_COMMAND. I tried it with motorolla Voice Commands (installed on system partition) and it is works fine.")
-I've tried Tasker AUTOVOICE!
I think the solution is quite simple, for example with an xposed module, but we have to make our request to be take into account seriously.
Please keep us in touch if we found a solution!
Hi, I have the same problem. Has anyone been able to fix this?
I tried to copy all Bluetooth files from a D801 ROM with no luck... Phone is Bricked, if anyone can help im sure its easy to enable HFP in our version.
Hi Guys, got a solution for you... Sort of...
What I found you can do is remap the redial action on your headset/car to activate the voice dialer app. Just download an app called "Smart Bluetooth Headset" by Yassen Dobrev https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yado.btbut
Then set it to remap the Redial Button to open your favorite voice dialer.
This might not be what we where looking for but it will do the trick handsfree.
Best
I have the same problem; the phone button does not work in both my intercom-headset (Sena SMH5) inside my helmet and in my car stereo bluetooth hands free phone.
I tried changing this file /system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf as in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023193 but no luck
I heard that with CyanogenMod roms there is not this problem, but I prefer to stay with the stock rom.
Anyone has come up with a solution?
