i was wondering , i am a windows mobile user with loads of stuff on MS Outlook 2007 and wish to migrate to Android?
i wish to migrate Calendar, Contacts and Tasks, if possible.. or does HTC sync does that for us?
HTC Sync should sync everything, but not sure that it will be able to find your HD2 using Android installed in SD...

HTC Sync does recognise the HD2 running Android. Mine shows up as a Desire as I'm running Desire based android.
Doesn't sync tasks tho.
You can export all your Outlook info as CSV, then go to your Gmail account and upload everything It will show up on your phone later.
Here's info on tasks:
http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/12/gmail-tasks.html
It should let ya migrate from outlook to G-Calendar, then all the stuff will magicaly appear on your phone
Hope it helps!

Not sure if anyone has been looking fot them or if anyone knows, BUT the Hero manual and HTC sync are loaded onto the supplied memory card.
Just connect it to your pc select notifications at the top of your hero then you you should see USB connected. Select it and then select mount. It then sees your Hero as a USB drive. Just drag and drop the files onto your pc`s desktop. Then install HTC sync. It then allows you to sync contacts in outlook etc.
Thanks for the hint!
You might find it if you lost it on the HTC-site. Its hard to find, but with a trick you are able to get there..
This is the english support url:
http://www.htc.com/hero/m/en/index.html
If you need another language just change it to /hero/m/nl/index.html for Dutch and i.e. /hero/m/de/index.html for German and so on for other countries.

My contacts are stored in Windows Contact Book(My Documents>Users>MYUSERNAME>Contacts) HTC Sync provided with DHD wouldn't copy them to my phone, so I just installed HTC Sync 2.xx from Legend/Hero and it worked.
It's a good point actually.
If you have your contacts in outlook, then when you install HTC Sync from the phone it will copy all your contact details to the phone automatically.
I learnt that the hard way by syncing with my work computer and having nearly 5000 contacts copied to my phone. I had to yank the power quickly and hard reset before it tried to sync it all to gmail!
Yep here to

OK, I'm a newb to Android so I'm not sure I understand what you're discussing here.
Should I install HTC Sync 3.0 from the HTC website or is there a better way to get it working? The Desire HD isn't (yet?) shown in the list of compatible handsets on the HTC website for that version.
On the included SD-cart there is the program HTC Sync 3.0. You can copy the file to your computer and install it there. Works fine and you can synchronise all the contacts in outlook.

Thank you.
I've imported my contacts already via Google so that bit is OK. Has anybody had success importing the calendar entries onto the Desire HD?
Edit: OK, I had a go and yes: it's synchronised the calendar entries. But only back a month. Is there a way to extend the range so that the whole calendar is synchronised?
Edit 2: I tried something else. I don't think HTC Sync will do what I want. I'm moving from Windows Mobile/Outlook to Google/Android so I figured I really only need a one-time synchronisation. I found that Google has their own sync tool:
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
It's not compatible with the version of Outlook I'm using (2002) so I found other software called CompanionLink:
http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/
They offer a free 14-day trial of their sync software with which I'm uploading my entire Outlook calendar to Google and it's syncing with my phone in front of me. That's all I needed - I don't think I want to sync my Outlook calendar in the future since I won't be using Windows Mobile again. Time will tell if I'm right.
Hello everybody,
i just flashed the RAFdroid ROM to my wife's HD2. (Android 2.2.1)
She was using WinMo 6.5 until yesterday and easily synced MS Outlook with the HD2 via WinMo Center.
As she now uses Android and the HD2 should show as a Desire, i installed HTC Sync 3.0.5511. When i now connect the phone to my PC it asks how to connect, where i check "HTC SYNC". The phone searches for HTC sync on my PC for a while but nothing happens.
I even started HTC Sync on my PC manually. Nothing.
I also already disabled USB debugging which then is turned on automatically, again.
What am i doing wrong?
What could i try to get HTC Sync working?
Is there another way to sync my Android HD2 with MS Outlook?
Thanks!
Steve
Try myphone explorer app and the Windows Software my phone Explorer
After googling for a while i installed Android SDK, rebooted and everything works fine!
Thanks for your hint with myphoneexplorer.
We prefer Outlook which now works (via HTC sync).
If you want to synchronize only the default outlook folders with the complete content, HTC Sync is working. But if you want to synchronize an outlook subfolder or filter some contacts, you will need MyPhoneExplorer. It works top with RafDroid via usb cable (HTC Sync-Mode) or via WIFI.
Thanks, i will give it a try, WLAN-sync sounds nice.
As an alternative, i am using gsyncit. It is an external program to outlook, and has tons of setting (almost too many). You manually set it up to your gmail account, and it does it thing.
you can control the sync timing.
One of the nice perks/hassles about gsyncit, it runs periodically on your computer, so if its the computer/outlook is up and running, it auto syncs. You can like edit your calendar in outlook, and then sync it, and it shows up instantly with on your phone via the web.
So you could alter your wife's calendar at home in outlook, and it update her calendar in another state or driving down the road. Kinda interesting.

You just need to install Android SDK to your pc. PS! I also have PDAnet installed as I also saw this mentioned as a solution. I'm not sure which one (or both together) makes it work, but hey it works for me.

Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

Had the exact same problem when i was trying out a Gingerbread rom, and thanks to Tann he told me about a program called MyPhoneExplorer
It works with your dilema and you'll be back to syncing:
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php
And its Free too, cant get any better then that
ooo good find, i looked high and low for an outlook sync solution, cant believe i missed this.
it also seems to include the adb usb drivers, so perhaps this could be installed instead of the whole android sdk for the adb drivers....

Thank you so much. This application seems very useful.
Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

HTC Sync uses outlook, you need to look in the setting in the app, you can re-sync your outlook contacts with this program. Thats what its meant for also.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.

Looks also not bad, but I miss the calendar sync.
And it looks like you can transfer contacts to the phone, but can't sync
changes on the phone or in Outlook.
Can you report please how it works?
