Hi,
I've just tried to upgrade my MDA Pro to the new AKU2. I didn't get anywhere with the installation. It got as far as 'checking the device', blue screened and now my MDA Pro will not switch on. Note that I didn't click on anything to start an upgrade.
Does anybody have any suggestions to make?
Update
Update ...
The BSOD was due to WCSEUSB.SYS (or something similar). I believe this is realted to the lovely ActiveSync ....
Plugged phone into mains without battery and the battery charge light is red. Plug it in with battery and nothing happens. Battery was FULLY charged before I started (I made sure of that).
did you put your universal on bootloader when you upgrade it ???
cheers

No.
I followed the instructions which didn't tell me anything about that - told me to connect via ActiveSync and I would get various screens - only got to the 'checking device one' when PC BSOD.
Looks like everything is now working - went into bootloader mode and started the upgrade from there. From what I understood of the instructions you needed to connect via ActiveSync. I got the instructions from the T-Mobile site.
My question is what does the additional T-Mobile CABs that run actually provide? Is it anything that I couldn't install myself?!?
Hi,
I was using the phone a few hours ago and everything is working fine.
Now, I'm trying to make a call and cannot! It says "no service found" and there is an exclmation mark next to antenna. I tried manually selecting the T-mobile network. Still, not working.
Also, all of a suddent, it won't let me access my contact list. It won't let me run any programs. It won't even let me get to the Phone program.
It won't recognize my miniSDA card either.
I rebooted the MDA and did the soft reset 4-5 times, still not working.
I did drop the phone in a parking lot 2 days ago, but it didn't physically have any damage and it's been working fully since that drop..up until just NOW!
I called T-mobile Support ... they are willing to give me a replacement MDA..so I guess that will be fine.
However, I cannot access my contact list - Does anyone know any way I can get my contacts off this MDA ???
Also, 4 mos ago, I installed a ROM from this site which supposedly unlocks the phone. Will T-mobile have a problem with this when they recv my phone ? Or no problem?
also..
by the way....
The phone will not sync with my laptop running latest ver of active sync.
It will say "connected" on both MDA and Laptop, then I get a pop up error on my laptop, some thing like:
" unable to syncronize with device, please check device and try again etc.."
OK - I got a replacement from T-mobile.
Now, can anyone tell me how to get my OLD contacts off the old mda and into the new one?
FYI: It won't connect via activesync
To start with: I already posted my findings on USB connections with a mobile phone and windows XP in the thread that handles a USB utility
By Accident I just stumbled upon the next and I think it is worth posting.
As I connected my windows mobile 6.0 on an HTC MDA vario II today it suddenly failed to find my device.
To sync anyway, I connected it thrue Bluetooth and that worked fine.
Then: I wanted to sync some new tracks via my Windows Mediaplayer on the XPSP2 machine. As it seems it is unseen through bluetooth.
I considred that this time, the only difference between yesterday (when everything worked fine) and today, was changing my SIMcard from the WM6.1 HTC to this one.
SO I took it out.
And hey....my device (that I had already removed the USB devices) was seen; installed and started syncing like it was yesterday.
It seems T-mobile has some strange SIM-card that makes it impossible to use the USB - Activesync functionality when the SIM is in the phone.
This goes only for WM 6.0 because my WM 6.1 (HTC Vario IV) does not have that problem at all. Maybe there is some developer with any idea as to how this might happen. There are many issues on the net concerning the same symptoms.
It keeps us busy and does make you want to take your new WM 6.1 phone on holidays instead of taking the oldie and keep an eye on that one.
It is also not so very sustainable because I did not have this problem the first year. Before the T-mobile upgrade.....
PLease tell me we are not being scr**&$#@ for marketing and explain there is a perfictly logical reason for this unforseen behaviour. I'd love to sync without taking my SIM card out. Should I get in touch with T-mobile?
Good luck to everyone who stumbles upon this thread for a reason and let me know solutions if found.
I bought a Dell Streak in the UK a month ago and brought it back to Denmark.
After installing the PC suite tool on the SD card a bunch of new processes popped up in the WinXP SP3 task manager:
Logger.exe
Generic.exe
CapabilityManager.exe
TCPVBTServer.exe
After having run this OS for 4 years with no viruses I almost had a heart attack!
I did a virus scan and something got removed from the PC (sorry, I didn't write it down) and now it seems everything's quiet again.
I've been researching a little and found this thread:
community.sprint.com/baw/message/184182
These ppl seem to think the HTC sync toy is to blame for these (unfortunately named) processes.
Here's my question:
Why do I have them when my wife's Tattoo has never been hooked up to this PC?
What do they ACTUALLY do?

Jess

My phone is vodafone if it matters
Is the Phone unlocked (meaning no keylock?)
You mean the phone is wake? Yes it is! And still the same!
Or you mean the keyboard?
I am new with windows phone i have it from Monday.
The Phone should be awake and there should not be a Screen Lock - Meaning you should see the Home Screen - with Operator - People - Messaging ...... etc.
Additional: Did you install the Certificate?
Yes twice. And i see everything and still don't want to start.I am with windows XP if this matters.
Ahhh. That's where the Problem lays. AFAIK the Chevron Tool only works with Windows 7.
**** and i cant do this on xp
If I' put Windows 7 i will unlock it right?
Yes, it should definitively work than. BTW: Vista should also work.
