Hi,
I have an unbranded, unlocked Legend with a Vodafone SIM. The FOTA check says (not unsurprisingly) that no update is available.
I have downloaded via PC the Vodafone 2.2 zip file from HTC but would like advice/guidance on how to update my Legend with the contents.
Yes I know I could wait for the update being issued by HTC but the idea of waiting possibly until the end of the year is a real downer - so I would prefer to update now.
Grateful for any advice
Thank you
Giles
I'm pretty you still have to root the phone first before it will accept any other ROMs
Seriously? For like 2 days now, the hole dev section is about 'how to update unbranded phones'.
Just learn to read and don't ask unnecessary questions... thank you.
Maybe a sticky is in order...
There is a sticky. Its the very first post. Everything is in there.

Are you Malaysian? Man I'm starving. Lol.
To TS, read the very first post in the General section. Should contain everything that you need.
Yes, we can all meet in Malaysia. Lolz.

No it doesn't. The mods are addicted to the delete button. Look again. No link. I've posted 5 decent posts in that thread... only one remains.
Some guys in Poland say that they got a Security Fix Update from Google today morning. So far they havent found any change besides correct polish letters in the virtual keyboard. The bulild number has changed to CRB43.
I got this just now (in the UK).
Version now reads:
Kernel version: 2.6.27-00393-g6607056
[email protected] #1
Says it was a security fix and was about 4.5 megs
I've got it too, this morning, in Ukraine

Yes it does, it's on the first post. You gotta use ADB to get it.
Hey, I know how you feel. I posted in it last night, to bump the thread so people like the OP will see it and follow the instructions. What happened to my post? Deleted, so the thread went back down off the first page. I even said the reason why I was bumping it, but because my post had no relation to the URL topic, it was axed.
Eh, just got the update message too; I'm in Florida using the U.K.'s CRB17.
Here's the update.

*edit* This is a security update for crb17, though I don't know what exactly it did.

I was paying attention, and it was an update link. Might not of been the Cupcake update, but it was an update that somebody might find useful.
I also got the security update...

Hi All,
I have a X10a from Rogers and i Rooted it to R2BA024 using the rooting steps in this forum. After that I connected to PC companion and SEUS both are saying that my phone is up to date. Below are my queries,
1. After I rooted my Phone Am I not eligible for updates?(Say for future 2.1)
2. Is there any generic unrooted firmware for X10a available?
3. Can I unroot the phone again back to Rogers firmware.
Request one and all in this forum to answer these queries. Sorry if it had been posted in some other thread. Looking forward for your update. Thanks in Advance.

Hi Vikram,
In future please search the forums before you post again
1. If you rooted it to an X10a version of R2BA024 then it should be fine
2. Yes there are many... again, search the forum
3. Yes, there is a Rogers firmware available too if you want to go back (That's what I'm going to do once Rogers releases its branded 2.1)

Hello Bro,
I searchd the forum and seriously did not understand them. So I wanted to ask my doubts in this single thread.
I have rooted to X10a verison of R2BA024 as I have x10a using the 3 steps process posted in this forum. So am I not eligible for future updates??
If I falsh my X10 with Generic firmware will I be able to update to 2.1 or i need to go back again to Rogers. Sorry if my thread has annoyed people in this forum. Thanks in Advance.

Sorry buddy, typo
I meant you should have flashed it to X10a, which you did. So from what I've heard that should enable you to get updates, even if you're rooted.

THe problem is currently I have R2BA024 FW but i see that the latest is R2BA026. When i connect through SEUS and PC companion both r saying that I have latest software. When I clicked Repair i get an error saying that unable to download files. So was bit concerned. Do you have any info on why this could happen. Thanks in advance.
Just what I asked in the other forum. I am currantly at R2BA026, and my Rogers X10a reads X10i (Even if I followed each and every step correctly). Is there something wrong with X10i-X10a step? and I am not alone, there were many people reporting same thing.
I am very happy with R2BA026 but would flash with original Rogers FW if R2BA026 can't read my phone as X10a.
Please help!

Do you have the Generic R2BA024? Or is it branded? Can you check that by accessing the secret menu? (search for secret menu in the forum to see how to access it)

Bro I used the info in the below thread,

Am I doing something wrong here. Please let me know which would be of great help.
Thanks
I'm pretty sure 024 is stock Rogers. I used the flash tool to get to 026.
Edit. By stock Rogers I mean its the last update in our region.

Well, Its not a big deal actually... when the 2.1 update is out we'll all know at xda.. and then u can just flash the 2.1 files when they are posted here (should be at most 1 hour from when they release )

Oh ok Cool then .. Thanks for your patience bro
I bought the Aser Iconia A500 today, and its still running an old build of 1.104.XX..
I was wonder if I could download the Updates somewhere, and then install them on the Tablet.
The OTA Download is taking forever and has failed at 92% the first attempt (on second now, and only at 19% after 32 min).
I don't have "root" and would like to update manually without root if possible.
Thank you in advance for any help given..

You know I would hope not. I would guess that you could go to the 1.4.1 or 1.4.7 straight from where you are. And then maybe the OTA to 3.1 will work. But I wouldn't take my word for it.
Hopefully someone that knows will stumble on this and help you with that part.
Oh, Okay. Well thank you for pointing me to the forum topic.
I just dont want to download the wrong thing and screw this tablet up. I just got the thing like an 3 hours ago.

Hehe you really can't with any of the files on that thread lol, the worse you could do is use the wrong update and confuse the gps, making it think you are in europe or something lol. In other words, no worries once you get to 1.141.07, OTA should kick in: lets just say acer didn't get of to that hot of a start with the whole updating business lol.
YES ! Finally HTC_044 2.24.707.1 (440.84mb) Downloading Now ! CAN'T wait to test it..... Thanks HTC !

The OTA was released yet for this model. You either have to wait or change the phone model, something that I personally do not recommend. Continue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305490&page=169

Thats why i am asking!!!
EDIT
i am so sorry
my fault
HTC__044 is PN0714000 right??
sorry
Yeeeah. Updated. Everything seems faster. First time getting an official OTA. Usually root the minute I lay my hands on the phone. Worth the wait... till Butterfly S comes.
If this topic goes like the general chat "I changed this CID and have model whatever and can't I don't know what... ", we can be sure it will be closed. How about leaving this one to people that are just waiting for the OTA without fumbling around?

Stop opening this useless threads. There is nothing in this thread that warrants it's existence. So please move this smalltalk to the One General thread that is stickied.
And: NO! Not even there we neep people just posting that they have gotten the OTA and are updating now... Or that they are waiting for that update....
Hey fellas,
My note 4 finally died on me so I decided to get the s7 edge and stay with the android fellers. I did have some questions though-
I got notified yesterday of a 164mb update. I'm trying to ignore it because I think whenever root is obtained it should be for older firmwares right? I'm on G935TUVU2APC8 and I don't want to upgrade and get shafted.
My second question is where are the update files stored and is it possible to delete them or disable the update so I can get rid of this annoying screen that pops up every now and again?
And I know I shouldn't ask but does anybody have a progress report for root on this phone? For previous phones I saw a donation page for root, this one I have yet to see it...
