Facebook Album Sync? - Wildfire General

Hi ,
I got a HTC Wildfire i wanted to sync all my Facebook albums so they are stored on my phones SD card. I tried an app Called Facebook HTC Sync from the Market Place but sadly it must have not been designed for small screens because the continue button is only partly showing and when i try and let the app permission to my facebook account the allow button dissapears when i scroll to view the button.
Does anyone know of any other app that can do what i am after?
Thanks
MR

The name is in your title.. just look for an app called "Facebook Album Sync".
Working very good syncing your facebook albums and tagged photos (tagged only in the paid version) to your mobile. I should know... it's mine

Hi
I meant I tried Facebook Album Sync. Problem I got is when it asks for facebook permission I have to scroll to see the allow button but when I do the allow button disappears permanently and then I can't scroll the second time. I am using HTC Wildfire and it seems to be a problem I guess with the Apps resolution. If it gets fixed I would buy the paid version as its exactly what I am looking for.
Thanks
MR

The resolution issue should be fixed in the latest version - v1.5, Although it was not tested on a 240x320 screen.
I'll double check the Facebook controls on the 240x320 resolution and will post an update if necessary.
Thank you for notifying.

[facebook cm7]

Hi, I haven't found thread about it so...
every time i reboot my legend (with stable cm7 and gapps) i'm missing of facebook's account. but... when i try to create one, i can't (after click to add account, i get redirected to main screen with all accounts). I found solution to that (clear cache in apps manager), however, i don't want to do it every single time i reboot my phone. could anyone give me a solution ? thanks a lot.
First, please make sure that the facebook app is not installed on your SD card.
Okay i moved it to internal memory. So it should help, right?
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Well, you're the only one who can test that. Please try to post in the correct subforum in future.
I had the same problem after moving to CM7. I think it's caused because facebook and all the other apps are installed right after the first start but before installing and setup the gmail app. Do you have the gmail app installed?
Deinstall and install again the facebook app helped me.
PS: the official Twitter app had the same problem in my case.
I have installed all the apps like gmail etc. Moved to.phone's memory helped.

List of changes after gingerbread update.

Is there an official list of what has changed, been fixed and improved?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
- added an "auto enhance" feature to the camera. not sure what it does yet, looks like it boosts the contrast and saturation a tiny bit.
- added a quick settings menu to the drop down bar.
- added a "tell HTC" error reporting feature. looks much like windows error reporting. can be disabled in the settings>about phone menu.
- changed the way the app menu scrolls. now scrolls a page at a time instead of smooth. RSI inducing when you scroll fast, but easier to find stuff.
- screen looks better to me, not sure why though.
- camera quicker to focus in low light.
- gallery is faster
Im seeing a difference in camera quality for the worse.
Auto enhance seems like its a fith wheel as you can acheive the same or better quality through adjusting some of the settings.
Has the text message app been fixed?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Text message app seems to be working fine now.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
also added:
new power control widgets. they look awesome! go to widgets> all htc widgets and scroll to about 50 out of 77.
I have also noticed the sound quality has improved on the video camera.. i can now actually hear things when playing back a video.. before i just got an awful low muffed sound. Anyone else noticed the improvement?.
The new scolling is a bit of a pain if you have alot of apps installed but if you change the view to list mode you can scroll down the list as before without the stopping and starting.
The speaker also seems a bit louder.
My texting has been fixed (was stuck on the buggy 1.74 for months!!)
My wifi is fine (although alot of people are reporting theirs has either got worse or no wifi connection at all)
Weather app now has sound on it
The phone seems alot more smoother too.
I'm running my HD on the stock rom and radio (unbranded on vodafone) with official update (2.36.405.8)
Not tested the GPS yet.. been raining here so i'LL wait till it clears up before giving it a whirl.
Battery on mine seems slightly better.
Improved the application management menus, seems to stop the running apps alot quicker than before.
Personally i'm loving this phone again.
In previous stock ROMs, pressing the search button on the home screen brought up the HTC Search application. Now, Google Search is used.
Not sure if this change was introduced with GB, or it was made earlier and I didn't notice, but... Gmail app now has copy/paste
However, still not possible to save attachments
Sound effects on weather widget, also clock and Facebook widget.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I noticed all the above plus better battery stats graph, and better manage apps menu. Also as stated about the Facebook widget/app they finally fixed it from before when you would load the app, click on something, and then back out, it used to make the thumbnail pictures disappear to a white box, but now they stay.
Can now enter title and middle name in People app....
And can paste number into the dialer - this is a particularly helpful addition for me.

When click on the find button on desire HD, u were able to search everything on ur phone, but now it goes too Google search? Why?
how can we search the phone now?

One other change that I'm NOT liking, is the unread count dissapears from the sms and HTC Mail widget once you have gone into the app, even if you don't read anything and come out anything. No longer displays any count.

Google Search is used to search your phone. Just go into Menu->Search Settings->Searchable items.

Found also that with the HTC mail app, when I get Outlook meeting invites now I can see the proposed time and date etc before accepting. Sooooo needed was that as I had no idea if I could actually attend or not when clicking ok.
Can also see my Gmail IMAP account in the HTC mail app listed in accounts now whereas before the only way to get to its settings was through the mail app itself.
Don't use GMail itself due to the horrible interface. Never gotten on with it.
Found that if you want to move an icon too on a full screen you can - drag it over another icon and they swap places. Unsure if that's a new one but I remember on my Desire you had to remove an icon first to make room then re-add. Even Nokia had that one covered with crummy Symbian.
Compared to 1.72 also it doesn't crash, at all. The older version used to just reboot itself all the time, in my pocket, on the table - properly got on my t1ts. Made me regret going from 1.32 to that horrible ROM.
I've also found that videos I could not play before that I'd recorded now play. God knows what was going on there but the update seems to have sorted that.
App management is faster - gives you a list of what's installed almost straight away, icons and all whereas before it would sit there calculating for ages.
The volume is noticably louder too on ringtones and notifications. Again was much needed as it was so quiet before.
All in all I'm pleased - the only thing I've found is when the phone is fighting for signal it EATS the battery with dialer jumping right up in the usage stakes. I think it's a mobile data thing - turn that off or switch to GSM only and it's happy.
While recording the video you can zoom in or zoom out even during recording. Earlier this was not possible and you could only focus while recording.
Also after restarting the phone, the duration of being run on battery, in the Battery use does not reset, while earlier it used to reset with each phone switch off.
here are some highlights

Thats always been like that has it not? A little tip though, if you are search for an app then open the app drawer and then hit the search button so it specifically searches through your apps only.
So if you know whatever your looking for is only going to be in a certain area hit the search button after you get there. I don't know if that's new or not but i just found it and it is very helpful rather then searching the whole phone.

Some roms do no include Facebook Sync, you need to flash it.
For for the second problem, your should
be able to remove the widget from the home screen, if not something is wrong with your rom.

In that case i would flash the Facebook zip , but you have to to reset the rom to factory state otherwise it does not work.

Multitasking needs some serious improvements :'(

I love android but for all the bragging Google makes about "real " multitasking I find it really lacking, let's say you get an email and you have an attachment you download and open the picture but then someone calls you and you finish the call you press the multitasking button and want to open the picture again but the gallery is not "open" ist not in the recent apps /multitasking list and if you try to open the gallery by yourself with the launcher or a shortcut the picture you were watching a couple of minutes is not there because "gmail open the picture with the gallery but the gallery is not being used " , then you try to go to gmail then to see your picture there but surprise ! The picture is closed and your back on your mail , you have to reopen/ redownload your picture
What do you guys think ? Am I being to picky ?
Also the thumbs from the task switcher , sometimes the pictures showing there could be from a state your app was 30 minutes ago , they don't update in real time :banghead:

Works for me.
Are you sure you havn't played with the number of allowed background apps setting in developer options?
Nexus4 has 2GB of RAM, plenty to support the apps you mention.... Android will only start closing background when when memory is low, and form oldest first.
I don't know how exactly android works, but this is my guess on why things happen as you've mentioned.
Each screen in android is called an Activity. When gmail opens picture, it is not opening the entire gallery app.
It's just opening an activity within gallery app to display a picture.Which is why the gallery app is not in multi-tasking list.

But it shouldn't be that way , its very annoying ,try to open a document in dropbox and start reading it then go to the music player using the task switcher , then try to switch back to your document (using drop box ) tell me what happens ? If you were to press back you'd go back to the image and such and as a matter a fact i prefer it this way. I don't want every image I view from email to be in my gallery as I didn't save it. The view attachments is a preview of said image. If a call comes in then and it looses focus it I wouldn't expect to go back to the Gallery and find it there since that's not where it was in the first place (even though the Gallery App was the one that opened it. That's like watching videos online then later in the day going back to gallery to expect to find that same video).

If this is happening then it is very likely a problem with the application. Android has a great structure in place for multitasking, but developers also have to do their part to make sure their app works as expected.

If you exit gmail application with the gallery activity still open, of course the picture would appear again when you return. That is live multitasking.
Yeah so true.. its way better on iOS where you get a jiggly icon

There is an app called PVStar+ (or similar) which allows you to play Youtube in the background. I use it to listen to concerts...
Anytime you get interrupted with a phone call, complete your call, press back, and your gallery image would appear.
The real answer, I just opened gmail, went to an email with image attached, opened in gallery, then press home. Hit multitask key, and the gallery image appears with the gmail icon and name. So the multitask works correctly like it should. Not sure why this thread states otherwise.

No, no you're getting me wrong , what i mean is that it would be better if when you open the gallery the image should be there until you close the gallery when you close it then the picture should be gone which brings me to my other complain, the multitasking button should really kill the apps , not just delete them from the list, well not really kill them since android has to keep the apps "open in the background" just reset them to their "stock state" just so that the background syncing/notifications still work

Well maybe gmail was a bad example, but you have to admit that the way multitasking works in android is very patchy and not only on third developer apps
AW: Multitasking needs some serious improvements :'(
Apps do not multitask at all on Android, only services do. When an app goes to the background, the OS asks it to pause and save its state. When it comes back to foreground, the OS asks the app to resume and load its state. This creates the illusion of multitasking, because the app continues where you left, but only works if the app developer follows the guidelines.

[L5-II E450] Small but anoyng issue with new FB Layout

Hello friends, as you know facebook is rolling a new Layout for they'r official APP.
I hear it is server side, so as long you have Android 4.x, you can roll back older instalation, uninstall and download the older FB APP APK, you can do all that and the new Layout still will be present.
The Layout is fine exept for one small but big issue.
At the buttons on top (Feed, Notifications, Friends Request) it dont display the Messages button.
I dont use FB chat, it is aways off and now exept for the push notifications i cant see if i have new messages on the APP, i need to check then via the options menu.
That is very anoyng for my use and a very deal breaker.
I tryed 3rd party APPs but none seens nice too.
Is there a way (as it seen to be server side) to roll back for the older layout, or add the stupid messages button??
Thanks for all, here what i mean:
