Message Indicator Missing (Today Plug-In)

I ran Memmaid today and after tinkering noticed my today screen was missing the message section where it shows the number of emails, sms, mms, etc...
Checking the today screen settings I have no item to turn on either.
How can I get it back?

Check you reg and see what you have here

Could i get some advice from you... when i try these codes they fail? I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong?
I enter the code e.g. *#1234# into the dial pad and press dial button...
A dialog pops up with the text
"ussd code running"
then another dialog pops up with the test....
"Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
Has anyone come across this problem?
When i enter *#06# for the imea number i don't even have to press dial it just pops up a dialog with the imea number immediately after entering the last #
Any help would be much appreciated

i am guessing you are using a third party dialer?
you need to use the original samsung dialer to get these to work

No result from code means either its not a SGS2 code but a SGS1 code usually .
Or the code is not relevant to your model .
Or like GPS code is so far none functioning .

Hello Nasgilani, I am trying to raise volume of the ear set speaker, I can get into the service mode for the audio settings by pressing *#6984125*# but after that any code that I can put in tells me Menu not Exist, Press Back Key, Current Command is : ( any random number, everytime different) Can you please let me know what to press after getting into service mode?
It is great post otherwise, many codes works fne, I can't get this one working thou.

THEN [1]HANDSET..you will see different volume by default 94, click that what you want to change and input 100 by hitting hard key at bottom.. will give you INPUT option

Think he meant the headset volume, not the handset one?
But here's a pic where to change it I guess? Confirmation would be great!
(notice I've changed the volume from 80something to 96)
Doesn't seem to change anything tho...

perfect, mrfreddan, I think we also have to change the TX and RX volume, I have old Samsung I8910 and that's what I had to change on that phone. I will try it and let you know result. The volume on SGS 2 is way too low for me. But thank you guys both....

Yes type in dialer.
In samfirmware after typing the codes press call button.

Hi, I tried this code but it doesn't work for me, and if I press the Dial option it will just show me the ISMI number.

The one of the apks(don't remember which probably the phone.apk) contains a list of all these commands, the list posted here is not the full one there are a lot more, there pretty much in plain text, get Notepad++ and search -> find in files in the app folder and search one of the WORKING common codes like *#*#4636#*#*,
but be warned there is a code that reboots the phone, reboots to download mode, and one that factory resets without confirmation, there also is a code that allows retyping the imei but it only works on some roms(probably the the beta version KPH)

There is none that I know of.
You have to be rooted to wipe dalvik. If rooted its in the advanced menu of cwm recovery.
The only way to clear dalvik without root would be to factory reset your phone as cache and dalvik get cleared during this process.
For best results it would be wise to perform both Wipe Data and Wipe Cache to ensure integrity and no program errors within the app itself.
Of course, you will have to go through the complete set up/sign in/etc. when you reboot.

Which rom are you using? you don't need to press call button...just dial the desired code in dialer

2. Certain widgets from Samsung are resizable: Bookmarks, Weather, and S-memo. These are again only seen in galaxy note i guess.. Link2Post (galaxytab1)
Hold the widget until it gets big and the desktop gets small, indicating it's able to be moved. Then let go and it'll drop back down and the resizing lines will appear. Touch and hold the grey triangle on the lower right corner, and drag to resize the widget. (maxh)

18. Pause your music using the palm of your hand. When playing music and the screen is active place your palm of your hand over the entire screen to pause it until you remove your hand. (Darius)
19. In camera settings choose "edit shortcuts" and you can drag the ones you want onto the left for quick access. Also works for video mode shortcuts as well, useful for quick resolution change. (Darius)

26. In settings-accessibility at the bottom is a sub menu called answering/end calls, there you can toggle the use of the power button to end the call. I like this one as there is always a small delay in the seen coming on to highlight the end call button.
There's also a toggle for answering a call using the home button and an automatic answer option using the stereo headset. (jamieross)

27. S-memo syncs with Google Docs, just go to S-Memo/Menu/Sync. (Galaxytab1)
28. Tips on S-memo sync with Google Docs:
I. Search option in Docs searches the whole of your document and not just the title. So, of you type something in the notes, it is searchable.
II. Title can be entered at the top, however, any text that you enter on the notes becomes the title.
III. S-Memo also has a tag system (Edit Tag) which neatly arranges your memos together, go to S-Memo/Menu/Sort by tag. (Galaxytab1)
IV. If you are syncing with google docs, deleting a memo doesn't delete the memo on google cloud. So any memo you deleted will be back next time you sync unless you login in at docs and delete the memo.
29. In the stock browser if u pinch to zoom out while fully zoomed out it brings up the new and choose window feature. (jamieross)
30. Upon pressing the status bar for a few seconds,when its pulled right till the bottom of the screen,it disappears immediately,without the need it to pull it up or going back. (NoRmAlY_CrAzY)

I have seen this clipboard only on galaxy note so far, no other Android device. I guess it is a Samsung addition

Pressing and holding the menu key brings up google search
Also it toggles the keyboard in the browser, even when a text input box isn't selected ^_^

I tried a thread back in nov but some members started saying just read the manual. A thread like this should exist

Certain widgets from Samsung are resizable:
1. Bookmarks
2. Weather
3. s-memo
These are again only seen in galaxy note i guess

The new browser in 2.3.6 upgrade has this new brightness option:

Does music player tags in other Android devices? It does so well in galaxy note here.
Also, the radio has a record button (didn't test)

Long pressing on the status bar till it pops up then disappears changes the status bar into a brightness slider when not on auto brightness.

1. with S pen
2.swype palm over screen
3. press menu+power key

ezPdf has this 'freehand' annotation, pen can write on the pdf file and saved there itself, visible on any platform as comments within the pdf.

Just few months back, it was required to root your Android to take a screenshot, which is to say, google didn't actually allow it. And now...

Outside of forums, i guess this doesn't find mention anywhere.

There is a toggle for the noise reduction during calls. Press menu after call is connected to invoke the option. Check screenshot.

I have tested most of them, but not all, hence you will see that some of them are questions (in red). I didn't bother changing those ones as to me personally either not necessary or didn't want to mess. But I included them anyways.
Tried and tested that the hacks will be implemented upon factory reset. Have not tested if restarting will work.
Just restart the phone for the changes to be applied.

As you can see, upon opening the file/s, there are a lot of things that can be changed. Thread accordingly when changing things.
The reason above for the "your_file" is that depending on what base ROM you've got (eu, asia, wwe, etc) plus the combination of the sim card that you've got, the phone will try to find the corresponding xml file. I will let you figure this one out. But it is very easy to do. This could also be the reason why that you might need to factory reset your phone before these hacks will work.
I would recommend, as much as you can, to use the right file. In any case, remove the unnecessary xml files but keep the "default" one. Your phone will use it then.
Upon changing the values on the files, you must make sure that the permissions of them are set back to normal. Too lazy to say.
I bet these hacks can also easily be implemented by the Xposed Modules, avoiding the need for factory reset.

For the telephony 5G I'm pretty sure that may enable the use of 5GHz for the wifi hotspot/tethering, as it currently only uses the 2.4GHz wifi. Might be best to not fiddle with quick boot as I heard that's incompatible with Lollipop.

I've thought the same. But I think it is already enabled even though the file is saying not. Don't have a 5ghz wifi to test.
