[Q] Calendar Alarm/Notification Help - Fascinate General

Used the search feature to no avail. The stock calendar app is not honoring any of my alarms/reminders setup in my Google calendar. I installed Gemini, and turned on the Notifications, but it tells me to disable any other notifications. Problem is, I can't find an option to do that anywhere.
Long story short, if anyone knows of ANY calendar app for the Fascinate that will honor alarms/reminders, please let me know. I am in desperate need of one.
TIA!

I have been using Jorte and it seems to work just fine - but I don't have a lot of Google calendar notifications so I'm not sure about that part. But its free in the market so it can't hurt to try

Switching Calendars

Anyone know If the G1 stock calendar would work on the Vibrant? Just had the random right of copying the .apk calendar file from the my G1 and installing it on my Vibrant. I know it will override the stock calendar I have now though. So before I do it I want to know if anyone knows if it'll work properly or not.

Seriously, the stock vibrant calendar is really bad. Worst: When you add an event, it defaults to the internal calendar that doesn't sync with Google, so if I check my calendar on my desktop, I don't see events I added with my Vibrant (unless I remember to change the calendar when creating the event).
I don't have an answer, but another quick workaround is a bookmark to the web-based touch interface for Google Calendar that supports HTML5 offline storage and background sync. I can't add links due to the spam blocker in the forum, so remove the spaces...
http : // www . google . com /calendar/gp?hl =en#~calendar:view=m
I also really like "Calendar Quick Add" for quickly adding calendar events.
I thought about doing that but I don't always update and do stuff with my calendar when I have service. I might give it a try in the next few days. I just need to make sure I can go back if need be.

Just download any one of the dozens of other free calendars available on the market and set it to use your Google calendar and forget the stock calendar even exists.

[Q] AOSP Google calender

Is there any way to use the stock calender with this phone. Samsung changed the calender to make it look better but crippled it's functionality. Having no alert option and having no way to change which calender is default is annoying. I've used a couple of roms that simply removed the samsung calender, but the calender replacements like jorte don't sync with google cal. Am I simply missing something?

Try smooth calender, free in the market.

Does this allow you to change the alert function on the calender from discreet to alert? I'm assuming it syncs with Google calender because it's a widget.

Hmm... I'm not sure about the alert. Never needed one, personally, and yes, it syncs with g calender.

While true, it's worth noting that it doesn't work.
How doesn't it work? It doesn't sync with google or do an alert? I have a job where I'm constantly running around and need to be reminded of things. With the subtle alert, you have to remember to look for the alert, which defeats the purpose. I really appreciate all the input I've received so far? Any other solutions?
I am on bubby's rom and the calendar works great...I don't know what people mean by it not working. I agree with OP, as it irritates me having to change those settings for every event. I do use Calendar Pad from market for my widget and all is good here.

Jorte syncs perfectly. Just choose the google calendar as the default for adding.

The developer of the ROM states as a known bug: "Stock Google calendar force closes"
So this may be an issue with some but not all. Personally, I got constant FCs with the stock calendar supplied with that ROM.
Check out this page for the vibrant. It works the same for the fascinate and its incredibly easy to accomplish.

Thanks for all the input. I know that there are several widgets that will syc wigh gcal, but I would like one that also does the full screen pop up alerts when you have a calender event. The stock calender does that, but I don't think any other calender does.

What about using Tasker and setting a profile to perform a popup alert on a calendar event?

Yes. You can find it in the market. It's a paid app but you can download a trial from the developers site. Just do a google.

I'll give it a look. Thanks.
I tried tasker, but I'm realizing that I just hate the samsung calender. They took out took much functionality. It defaults to a calender that doesn't sync with google, you can't auto launch maps or other apps from it. It's just too crippled and I use it a lot for business. I tried bubbles rom, but when I restore data I have no calender at all. Strange.
I think launcher pro has the best widget calender.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I tried bubbly's rom and it doesn't work. I also tried to install the calender myself, but I didn't have better luck than bubbly. It seems that there is something that just keeps it from working. I will look deeper into tasker and see if I can figure something out. I'm curious to find out if anyone has successfully managed to replace the stock calender with aosp and been able to successfully change it to alerts from taskbar notifications. When the time for the alert to happen goes off, the calender force closes.

Calendar issues-aria

Hey all,
I searched around here and didn't find anything. But is anyone else having issues with the calendar widget? I can't get any of the events to show even by setting visible and sync. I'm using cm6.1.1
On my aria
Or if there is a better widget that works too.
Thanks!

Which calendar are you syncing with? Google or something else? CM does not work with HTC sync so you will need something else to sync to Outlook. In the 30 minutes I had CM on my Aria last week I could not get it to log into my Google account either.
To get it to sync with google you have to flash the separate gapps. And yes i do have that installed with all the correct settings for sync. It apparently only shows the next one event(Which i wasn't used to coming from sense lol) That's why i was asking if there is anything comparable.
Other than that the cm mods are great!

Calendar not syncing?

Any1 having issues with their Google Calendar not syncing?
This is my first Nexus 7 - 32GB
OS - 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Stock
Can't get any entries onto my N7 calendar widget.
Is it a 4.1.2 issue or my user error?
Did you enable calendar sync in /settings/accounts/Google?
Is your Gmail account ticked in calendar/settings/calendars to display?

Yes to both!
Update: just unchecked the accounts & added back.
Lo&behold it works.
Thanks for chiming in.
Slight different problem I am having...
In settings -> accounts -> google, there is no calendar entry despite the fact that I have installed calendar from the market.
When I go to sync in the calendar app, it shows my google account, but clicking on that shows 'no calendars'. I don't know why it's not working as it syncs just fine to my phone, so I don't think it's a sharing or permission error.
Anyone with a suggestion?
Similar problem
Hey I'm experiencing a similar issue, my google calendar won't sync, tells me to add an account and when I do says it has already been added. If I try to add a new entry the app force closes.
Bough the N7 yesterday, have been using google calendar on my phone just fine. Tried resyncing but no joy. Any solutions out there for this?
Found a solution if anyone comes here with a similar problem, turns out the calendar was not visible, just click on today's window in the app and make sure all the accounts are white rather than tan. Wow, do I feel silly hehe

Hi, I am not a super-user, but also not quite a noob. I've rooted devices and feel I'm relatively competent. I am only mentioning this to simply clarify who's asking, because I am not at all clear on these instructions.
I missed a doctor appointment because my phone (which had all my appointments) did not sync to my N7. Oddly, it did sync some (when, I don't know). I've tried everything I could think of. I've only had the N7 for about 2 weeks, and have found the menu options lacking.
To be clear, my phone has the data. The N7 does not. All boxes have been checked on both Google accts. And, as one does in a situation like this, I unchecked and rechecked them to no avail.
Thanks for the help and everyone's suggestions.

Trying to help a friend and I don't want to make a mess of his phone. What happens when I "uncheck" the google accont? Does it erase his user completely with pictures and contacs and so on?

Google Calendar & S Planner resets after reboot

So this is the strangest issue I have ever encountered.
I normally use my Google Calendar for all Notifications, Gmail Sync etc.. S planner normally just runs in the Background without actually doing anything.. And it worked perfectly till I upgraded to 4.4.2 and then suddenly this error started coming up
Whenever I restart my phone its like both these applications completely get reset. S planner becomes the default app for the Calendar and the notifications, sounds, vibrations etc all get automatically turned on.. While all the settings I had in my Google calendar app get completely wiped clean as if it were a fresh install.. All the notification, sounds, vibrations, default reminder time, last viewed and I don't know if I am explaining it right but the week view the appointments/entires get zoomed in rather than zoomed completely out which is what I set it to normally..
So now I have trolled the internet for a solution almost the entire day with no luck whatsoever.. Can anyone give me one? So as to ensure my sanity by days end?
I used an Xposed Module (app ops) to limit all of the permissions of the S Planner and that ensures that no notifications are coming on on the S Planner anymore.. however it is pretty pointless as a solution as my Google calendar is still reseting itself after every reboot..
Delete this post..
I'm just facing the same problem too, can you find a solution for it?
I have this issue too. Have you found a solution for it? Both Google and Samsung calendar notification settings reset upon phone restart.
Also, it seems that kitkat is messing with how my phone, or at least third party apps, write to my SD card. I miss jelly bean already.
Same Issue Here - AT&T Galaxy S4
Exactly the same issue here on my Galaxy S4. Only been happening since the 4.4.2 update. Can't disable the (rather hideous) Samsung calendar app, either... I've taken to changing the notifications from pop-ups to emails for events created on my calendar, so that I at least get the notifications.
Edit: also worth noting is that this is happening after a hard reset (I performed one after installing the OTA update and using it for a few days in hopes that this would be resolved). No dice.
I have the same problem on Note 3, it is annoying as hell..
I have the same issue on Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. Does anyone have a solution?
please do a factory reset and see what happened. or remove your google account and add it again

A factory restore did not work for me.
I also have been trying to find a solution to this annoying problem. On Kit kat. Driving my crazy..
If factory doesnt solve it the easiest way is to download your region firmware and flash it through odin.

I tried flashing the firmware again, it still didn't solve the problem! This is driving me crazy =/
i'm almost sure this is due to some kind of "security" inside samsungs implemntation of 4.4.2 because
this applies also if you install for example the new messaging from s5, it will also be replaced with the "old"
version after a reboot. also ad-away does sometimes not work on 4.4.2, as if it doesnt get proper permission
to write to /system, even on a fully rooted device!
maybe it has something to do with the full implementation of SEAndroid, see here:
http://selinuxproject.org/page/SEAndroid
this is really annoying!
I am getting the same problem and tried emailing Samsung Customer Support and this is their answer...
Your question
I don't like S Planner and would like to use Google Calendar. S Planner cannot be disabled, therefore I turn off its notifications and enable notifications on Google Calendar. Every once in a while, S Planner notifications enables by itself and Google Calendar notifications get disabled. Why is it not letting me choose my calendar app?

I'm still waiting for a solution to this other than flashing another rom or rooting, although I doubt Rogers or Samsung will care.

Any news on that?
Same problem like you guys...
Same problem here. I have an ATT S4. I used to have notifications disabled for Samsung calendar with 4.3. After the OTA update to 4.4, they grayed out that option, just to annoy us in particular. The app cannot be disabled or turned off now. I recently installed the Graviton custom rom and I continue to have double notifications. Because now I have root, I could use some hard measures to stop Samsung calendar. I don't want the calendar system to stop working for the Google app though. Does anyone know a way of removing the Samsung app safely? Will Google calendar continue to work?
I wonder if I should stop buying Samsung.
Has anyone tried wiping their phone and see if the problem persists?
