Is it worth getting an HD?? - Desire HD General

Hi all,
I have a desire that I am returning to 3uk this week and cancelling the contract as the reception in my area is crap.
I will be getting another contract straight away but now have the choice between 3 phones, the galaxy, desire or desire HD.
Not to sure about the galaxy as I like HTC, but is the HD worth getting over the standard desire?
I like the desire, have been flashing Roms since I had it and find it a nice phone. Hopefully the Rom development will take off soon with the HD but is it any better?
Cheers go advance, blinky

I have already preordered the HTC Desire HD, and my current phone is the HTC Hero, great upgrade! Although I love my Hero!
I want to because having had a string of HTC phones in the past I'd love to come back to the fold........ but at the moment I'm sitting on the fence with my Galaxy S in one hand and in the other pages of info on the Desire HD to get through.
My contract is up in December after 18 fun filled months with a Hero (there have been times where i have loved it, such as now with froydvillain 1.5, and others times where i was ready to chuck it off the balcony!) ... I will certainly be upgrading to Desire HD
I'll bought Desire HD as soon as he arrive in my country...
I sold my HD2...temporary on my dummy phone
I am in the US if the phone comes to AT&T, I am getting it. My currect phone is the HTC Fuze (touch pro).
I'm using my Hero on Froyd Villian I'm 99% going to get this when my upgrade is due on the 16th November.

Prepare for the big disappointment. After you got it, you will probably realize that there is lag and other problems. So, you will bring back the Desire HD and buying another phone.
I am currently on the fence for now. I want the Desire HD so bad, but am happy with my Nexus and not sure how soon the Desire HD would get rooted as well.
Also, except for the big screen, not sure if its a worthy upgrade.
Decisions, decisions! If only it wasn't so expensive!
count me in. currently using 5800XM

ROFL, and this was posted by..... oh wait.... Super Galaxy S
Back on topic:
Despite the "LCD" screen uncertainty, I should be receiving my HD in about 2 weeks. I am reading and surfing the web a lot, so the 4.3" screen will be a must for me. The new 8th generation GPS (Desire has 7th gen) will also be a plus; it's a feature I am using almost every day.
I may possibly abandon my streak for the desire be just due to the fact of that there will be a lot more support for it and dell to be blunt are ****ing about to much for my liking.
Also the fact the roms been released footing wont be far off.

I am moving from a Touch Pro 2 to a Desire HD. Not sure how I'll get on without a physical keyboard but I am so desperately fed up of my Touch Pro 2 that anything will be an improvement!
I'm excited - can't wait for it to arrive!

I'm in the same boat as you mate. TP2 on Vodafone and sick and tired of my phone.
I have had a physical keyboard for years and still don't know how I am going to feel without the option. But I have found myself using the on screen keyboard more that the physical one. I think its just because I am lazy.
I'll be getting the Desire HD me thinks.

[Q] Nexus One or Desire HD?

Hello everybody,
I'm an happy N1 owner since february 2011. I tried a lot of custom ROMs and now I'm using the last MIUI.
I just bought (I'll got in my hand in few days) a new Desire HD for 299 euro (the price was too good), but I'm still unsure whether to sell my N1 and keep the new DHD or resell the DHD and keep my loved N1.
I don't really care too much about Sense UI, but battery life is really important, as is speed, display and "longevity"
I'll post the same question in the Desire HD forum... so I'll get a more complete opinion.
Thank you all
seriously?
WARNING - DO *NOT* POST QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM - only tips/info/etc.
yes, seriously!!!
Anyway... I decided to keep my Nexus one.
The Desire HD is huge... it doesn't fit good in my hand... I don't have the right feeling ;-)
Thank you anyway

Good choice...hard to beat the form-fit-feel factors of the Nexus One!
The DHD is newer and has upgraded specs including the 2nd Gen Snapdragon, but I would return it and keep the N1...Why? Since HTC or whoever will most likely have better Dual-Core or Quad-Core(Late 2011/Early 2012?) so wait for that instead. DHD got outdated quickly, if that's important(Sensation/SGII).
N1 of course ) or sensation )

thanks one and all

Just wanted to say i have been an avid lover of my hd2 and this site for the past 2 years.
Not sure i made the right choice but i have just bought an evo3d simply because it was cheap with changing my phone i have also changed my userid.
So i just wanted to say many thanks to all the wonderful members and developers here that have helped me and my phone flourish. This was my first ever phone and i cannot believe how good it was.
Thanks.
I also upgraded to a Galaxy Nexus. It's not the same as the HD2. It was a cult.
What did you do with your old HD2. Sell it?
hey mate i really liked the look of the nexus or the s2 but with all the hype about the quad cores i was going to wait. but the deal on the evo was too good really.
i sold my hd2 to a relation they are still selling on ebay for nearly 150 they are a good phone. i reckon i will end up buying it back off him soon.
what did you do with yours?
I still have it. It has the NexusHD2 ICS Beta10 on it and other than the fast battery drain, I actually like it more than my new Nexus. I like the heavy, solid feel and the hard buttons.
I will see how the new HTC Edge/Endeavor is received and I might upgrade.
Yea I just upgraded too, but got the Samsung Galaxy S II, miss my HD2 a little, had it since launch, but my power button was out and I didn't fill like cracking it open. I'll still flash it every so often, theres not many ROMS for this phone yet, but ICS is coming, sooooo.

it is crazy with all these new phones. that we still keep our beloved hd2 closest to our hearts.
Truly the best phone i think i will ever own.
I still keep HD2 is my second phone, too.
It's my best phone until now

It's the very good phone. I'm using it and don't have any complaint about it.
Agreed, Thanks to one and all!!!
I've only recently received by HD2 as a hand me down with win6.5
Took the plunge last night and put Nexus ICS CM9 on it.

No probs so far.
From what I've read and searched, this little unit is going to be a rippa to work with - so looking forward to it.
I've been thinking about upgrading to a newer phone, but there are none that match the versatility of the HD2 yet! I don't know if we'll ever have another one as awesome either . I'm going to continue using my HD2 for the rest of the year, and buy the 2nd gen Xiaomi phone. It sounds like the closest thing to an HD2 follow-up to me.

Goodbye

Hello DHD community,
WEll it has been emotional, from almost the word go on my handset I have been a member of XDA and only dwelled in this bright little corner of the forums.
But now I move on. After the expiration of my contract I decided I wanted a new phone, and so I have now sold my Desire HD (it is sat next to me going back to RUU 1.72). I will be moving into the SGS3 world now. Wish me luck.
I have loved this part of the XDA community everyone has been great. Special SHouts go to
Mike1986 Yours was my First ROM Thank you
Lee I loved Leedroid I was very sad when it was no logner developed but I am so glad you took your expertise elsewhere
and finally
LordClockan and everyone involved in the ICS port and build. It was a bumpy ride with many bugs and pitfalls, but thanks for all of your work.
I hope I answered some questions and I hope I gave back what I took from this community.
Thanks all, see you on the dark side.
Good luck and thank you

Its gonna be hard to see you go but I wish you the best with your SGS3 endevours. Be sure to stay here though, we'll always need your brilliance and expertise!
Best of luck

Enjoy the Galaxy S3.
im planning on moving to a new phone like you, S Galaxy 3.
Even tho ive been with sense rom for a very long time, ive decided to move to a different android device.
my contract ends next year Feburary...HAHAH...
if there is a newer phone coming out by then...ill probably get the newest phone.
Personally the Desire HD is an amazing phone & I don't see the need to upgrade (SetCPU helps if I need more power). The only drawback is Sense UI, which is a HUGE memory hog. Other than that, a brilliant little device which has an excellent comunity with members such as @wbbigdave

Is this phone to old ? What will you be getting next ?

Is it time for a new phone now that development on this m7 has started to die down ? Sad really I miss my desire hd days development for that phone was awesome ! So what phone will you be getting next ? And is the development going to be awesome with that phone ? I want to get back to when things where poping off every day with something new to do I just don't feel the thrill of flashing with this m7 like I did desire hd .
Still good phone just not happy with development. Deffinetly better than one x + lol but desire hd had everything on development . I never have felt like I've got my money out of these phones besides the desire hd that phone was worth every penny !

too old? I just got this and its fantastic. This is the best time to buy an M7 for a couple of reasons...speed tests with the m8 are almost neck and neck, prices have gone down and its still a gorgeous piece of technology. Not to mention you can get sense 6 directly from HTC and therefore leave it stock as much as you want
Yeah I won't be upgrading to m8 but maybe m8 prime when it drops I just think the developer friendly environment gonna suck cuz of android L but who knows only time will tell I wish I still had my desire hd still have my HTC hd2 I love playing around with that phone still to this day

Dude, wait. Don't upgrade now. I would suggest that you wait to see the newer devices towards the end of the year. If you're in a hurry, the LG G3 or the M8 would be your best bet.
Is development your only issue with the phone? Because development is still going strong. Keep your M7. You worked hard to afford it
M8 didn't impress overall. I might go for the oneplus one for a larger scree, better battery life, and better hardware support in cm11. The hardware on the m7 is quite good so it's not a rush.
Honestly I'm keeping my M7 for at least another year or so, because by the time it's time for me to upgrade, the new Snapdragon 810 phones would probably be out. That's what I'm waiting for. I hope the next HTC phone won't have the black bar with the logo on it, that's one thing I hate about the M8. I'd like the screen to be directly and evenly centered in the body.
Snapdragon 810 (64-bit)
I'm waiting for the Nexus 6 which will be 64-bit along with the beautiful Android L.
That's what I'm waiting on is snapdragon 810 with 4k capability
I'm bout to turn my m7 back into ge edition and play around with art !
I don't like LG because it's plastic I only buy metal phones HTC hd2 desire hd and m7
I did buy a one x + but it wasn't metal and broke in my pocket att was nice enough to let me trade it in for a m7 I learned my lesson I'm to tough on phones and metal ones only ones that can stand up to my abbuse
