I got a central European Desire HD.
My info is :
Baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d
Build number: 1.32.405.6 CL278359
When i go to the Language & keyboard settings, i get Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, plus of course English.
As you can see in the list of available RUU updates here in forums, there is no such update :

The closest one is "RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_2 6 .03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed", but there is that small difference, the U letter behind the 140e. Also, Those updates are World Wide English, so they are not my version of ROM, which is clearly Central/Eastern European.
Now, if i would like to switch to some other ROM, currently i have no way to restore my original ROM. Is there any way to do a backup ? It's enough to link me to some howto, but right now i'm in the dark .
Hello faugusztin
M_T_M sent me a message to try help you out so here i will try
so to start.
are you referring to try custom roms? such as those posted in the development section?
if so then it is possible to make a back up using nandroid. i will try explain below.
if not please PM me to get my attention i am slightly busy with a few things so don't check other threads out as much as i used to
so i will try explain the steps of custom roms.
there are numerous "guides" in the development section on how to obtain permanent root. if you want a specific link i can give you direct links.
after disabling the write protection you can write to certain areas of the your phone.
at this point i would like to tell you the risks implemented in this. there is no risk of root. there is no risk of permanent root. how ever there is risk of when flashing the engineering SPL which gives s-off.
make sure the file is not corrupt and you are writing to the right partition.
i recommend you read the guide fully before doing anything.
if you flash an engineering spl, you will then be able to flash a custom recovery.
a custom recovery allows you to do a few things more then the standard recovery.
naming a few,
a) flash custom roms.
b) BACK UP you whole nand partition. this includes your current rom's system but with 1 exception.that is the the root part. the root files will have been installed on the system partition, therefore are part of the back up. but it is easy to remove them once the back up is reflashed.
as i do not know where the users obtain the official RRU's i can not comment as to why there is no e version for your destination available.
i would like to state on the other hand that if you read up process you will have better understanding of how it works. i.e. you can reverse the process and go back to your rom. be it the hard way as there is no official ruu for you..
i hope to have helped
Permanent root is not a problem, i already have it (via Visionary r12). I don't plan to flash any alternative ROM yet, i'm just asking to have a "howto" for current ROM backup in case i will install any alternative ROM and i will want to have a way back.
By the way, today i seen Paul O'Brian's ROM :

}
And there are the same screens on my phone :
So seems like the base system is same, yet he has totally different language choices. So confusing ... I think i will wait until all RUU's will show up, sooner or later they must come to XDA .
The baseband is the radio image. I.e. a file from HTC labled radio.img
Language's are in another file. Paul adds many languages as he can to His rom. I have limited connectivity on my phone from train. As I said a nandroid back up will do the job you want. I. E you will be able to restore the Rom you make a back up off. All the developers highly recommend it.
Finally on a PC :s
to back up your current rom you need to have a custom recovery and do a nandroid back up
if you still don't understand read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846248
and if you still have further question i will try to help again.

Since your phone is s=off it is doable, because you can change the /system folder and have stuff stick. With that being said i know there is a thread in the development section that has a lot of gauge options on it. If i can find it i'll post a link to it for you.

Thanks for the work on the link Neid. I am actually using one of those now.
I was specifically looking for one like the link above displays. Apparently I haven't been able to find that exactly.
I know some of the custom roms have it available, but was curious if there was a file or something that could be pulled from them to make it available for the sense, stock ui
I know one of you stud guru's can do this in like 5 minutes!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
Cook it up here if you want. There is an icon like it in the battery mods section.
damn that's tough, I can't find the needed files. Thank you for the link however
how did you theme your current setup? If you used a flashable zip, you use that. If you used the t-mobile theme engine you use the apk. It shouldn't be tough. With that kitchen you just need something to start with, so as long as you aren't running straight stock no theme, it's a quick file dump and let the kitchen cook it up.
I am using the recovery back to stock, which was titled, 1980-01-06.00.08.33. I got it from these forums for a stock recovery with sense.
I am still rooted, and S-off, verified through 3 sources, and i can add mods.
I tried looking in that file last night, but didn't see anything.
You are saying just throw that entire zip in kitchen? I will try that tonight (Can't remember if the zip was over the 9mb limit kitchen had, which I think it was)
no that won't work. You need an apk to get it going, since you're using stock you'll have to find one of the t-mobile theme engine apks already included with stock. I think androidian is one of them. I'm a little surprised, for someone who wants a really customized look you shouldn't be using an odexed ROM. Something like RoyalGlacier would be so much better. It's MySense, stripped, deodexed, zipaligned, and has a lot of tweaks that are great. Much better kernel included as well. Take a look at the thread in the development section. The touchpanel update included in faux's kernel is worth it by itself, it's like getting a whole new phone.
Ahh Darinmc, thank you for taking the time to reply.
I actually have RG ready to flash on my SD, just hadn't yet. I know RC2 was giving me a force close loop, so I undid back to stock until they had more time to work bugs.
I think I will give RG a shot.
Again, thank you very much for replying, think I will try Androidian and then RG
The best thing about TR ROMs is their support. Follow their instructions for installation to the letter. After that, if anything, and I mean anything, goes wrong, post a detailed report in the thread and they will bend over backwards to get you up and running. Having problems with RC2 probably had something to do with a bad install (this is not pointing the finger, simply pointing out that when dealing with custom ROMs many things can happen during an install), the TR instructions are more detailed and generally create better results. Happy flashing!
Dear newbies, please back your device up before updating, trying custom ROMs, Kernels and other modifications. Most common and easy backup methods can be found here. Please note that Acer has released firmwares that broke the update cycle. First thing to do when getting a device is a backup or you might get stuck on an old version!
Dear ROM cooks, please prompt users to create backups. Although for some it may seem common sense, other may suppose that restoring their tablet is an easy task - until Acer releases an OTA update to the current 3.1 we can't say for sure our stock 3.1 will match all the required checksums.
Please do not modify Device Information, Model number, Android version, SN and SNID if possible. I understand you take pride in your work, and you should but by over-branding the FW you can be making it very hard for developers to properly identify the device and address bugs. Some will even ignore reports from modded devices.
Thank you for your cooperation.
I agree flashing custom roms can brick a phone or tablet. Users should be aware of tue possible consequences, but they rooted the phone which makes all this possible. That by itself largely takes them outside of support.
I agree blanking sn and snid, as well as change device types etc should be pointed out where possible, but being realistic most devs will not devote the time for it.
I personally do not develop on android, but have dealt with custom roms on multiple android and other os's. I generally make I have a way to return to stable state. The net result is i have never permanately bricked a phone. Close a few times.
I think a good mandatory read post about the dangers of rooting, installing root apps or flashing romss and kernels, would a good idea before people can accesss the sub-furoms devote to that stuff.
But realize that most owners of any android, iphone, windows mobile, etc will never root(jailbreak). Only the curious. Rememberthe saying about curiousity and the cat.
DEVs - Keep up the good work.
Users - Understand the risks. If you don't understand what you are doing. THINK THREE TIMES
Hopefully, if something goes wrong someone here can help.

Tell that to the people trying to fix their tablet after flashing your ROM.
Just asking nicely to post a note about backing up, but no, you just have to be a jerk.
Thanks for sharing, hopefully people read it before flashing.
This is just an effort to caution the noobs and request the ROM chefs to caution the noobs, we are not trying to blame it on the Chefs, and if developers feel that noobs won't read this - well we can't force anyone to read this - but we can try and help them to not brick their device - which will lead to another 100 threads with the title " I brick my device - whats to dos now " in the dev section, if by one thread we can save 100 new threads - maybe worth a shot.
Q&A for [KERNEL][HCR-PRO][LOLLIPOP 5.0 LRX21T][ L1-72/CM12-73]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.

Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
i am really love your rom.. the stable one, but why when i try to flash new kernel, my phone boot almost 20 minutes but nothing happen.
in the end i am using the previous rom.. and btw why sometime my data could not connect ..
Problem
after flash this kernel on stock L, my Google's stuff are mess up...
Google account was erased automatically after boot
Google apps error occurred (pop up once after boot)
any Google stuff disabled... n i don't see System update tab on About phone.
did anyone confirm this?
I'm on stock lollipop and have encountered no issues with this kernel. I've flashed the last three versions.
Not sure what's going on with your install, but any kernel shouldn't be affecting the Google account on your phone, afaik.

i knew something like flash kernel won't be touch Google stuff in my previous 20+ devices... yes, im flash a holic
but my problem wasn't usual... when restore stock kernel, everything just fine...
i just need custom kernel for optimize the battery life, that's it nothing else...

@JaMeVu advised me to post my question here again (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56862150&postcount=448 )
Long story short:
These are the readings I get in trickster:

I flashed busybox, but on boot trickster said I either have a broken or missing installation. So I installed busybox on rails via the recovery method (Couldn't install ***.zip from Cache or something like that) but after that I got that status
I'll quote my last post here:
evga_I said:
I'm quite careful therefore I ask beforehand. Can we trust those values? Any idea on why they are displayed higher? So then I go - 150mV to get the same result, I assume the steps remain unaltered?
All these boxes are to be checked after setting the values:
View attachment 3022256
The OP states the kernel is for more performance too, I'm thinking OC? Would you be so kind to provide me a quick check list of what settings I should set so my setup is the way you intended?
Important: If the voltages are too low and the phone won't boot or freezes, will it reset the settings on next boot or will I still be able to reflash the kernel then to get back to stock settings?

Hello:
I've posted a thread in my model of phone, to enable Miracast featura. As you probably know, Miracast feature is used in almost all phones since Android 4.2.x
Heres is the link to thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/zte-blade/general/miracast-zte-blade-l3-t3203223
I also quote the actiones I've been taking in Stock Rom rooted with KingRoot
Hi, this is my first post. I'm a self-experienced using Android. For year I had no problems with my devices. I had a Motorola G 1st generation who worked fine, but I waste it. Now, I bought ZTE Blade L3. Such as Moto G, Miracast feature is not enable (at least in my stock rom).
I want to know if this device is compatible with that technology (read that works in every phone since 4.2.x).
This phone has Android KK 4.4.4.
Tried to first connect trough WiFi Direct a Miracast Dongle (easycast), but the phone doesn't connect. Then, I tried whith screen cast option, and the same. Finally, I looked forums how to unlock modifying bootloader.ini, just as I had to do Moto G. I added the lines with BuildProp editor after rooting with Kingo Root:
persist.sys.wfd.virtual=0
persis.debug.wfd.enable=1
AAAAAND nothing happens
I need some help, first to know compatibility (wifi drect certification page is down, unfortunately), if there is a ROM that solve this problem (CM maybe?) and if there are other lines that I must add to buildprop.
Thank you very much for your asnwers, and sorry for the bad english (I'm from Chile).
If you need any further information, please ask!!!
UPDATE: use #MirrorEnabeler and the message is "Your Rom is lacking the audio_submix file. You must contact your device mantainer and ask them NICELY no imlement it. Please refer to the red part of the original post on XDA-Developers" This going to take long time, so decided to install stock ROM from other country using SP Flash tool, to see if it has the same problem.
UPDATE 2: Stock ROM from other country, same problem. Rooted the phone to make changes using KingRoot. Followed instructions from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193 The thread was closed, and will create another thread for dongles (no chromecast)
It says, or those STILL having issues,
Check /system/lib/hw directory for the file "audio.r_submix.default.so".
If it doesn't exist, ask your device maintainer to add audio.r_submix.default to
the product_packages in the device.mk file. (You may not know what it means, but they will.)
So, Asked my mobile company to do the changes, they said "the manufacter must". Contacted ZTE to do what is being said, and ther is still no answer.
Will ask in thread posted after, to see if they can help me. Please let me know if somebody can run Miracasr in his Blade (also did't found another ROM that's not a Stock one)
Click to collapse
I´ve trying to contact manufacter to enable the feature, but It is probable that the stock ROM (from my country) is blocking the feature, just for buying an more expensive phone.
There is NO custom Rom yet stable for my rom (MTK device)
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Regards and SFMBE.
Got the answer from ZTE.
Said this: " am sorry to inform you that you cannot have miracast individually custom-made to use on this device hence there is no authority of Miracast.
Should there be further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. "
So, they cannot create the file that I asked. So, my mobile company and the manufacter said "no way dude".
CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME IF IN A CUSTOM ROM IS A WAY TO CREATE audio.r_submix.default FILE!"????
SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME PLEASE????

Hello everyone
I have been enjoying my phone for a while along with my old S6 which had a ton of mods.
Ever since I sold my old phone, I can't help but miss features like viper4android and other magisk goodies that I used to have.
After the pie update which broke the bluetooth function I downgraded my phone back to oreo using odin and original fw.
I have been looking for a complete way to install a custom recovery (twrp) and use the phone with custom roms, but i have not found any complete guide yet.
Can someone point me to a existing guide or just tell me what files I have to use.

Hey. Its not that hard and you already know the process. Go and try renovation ice . I am using it from a month and nothings better then it . The speed, the battery timing and tweaks are all amazing. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ovate-ice-g950-g955-android-7-0-aqdg-t3598040
For installing a custom rom you need a custom recovery so flash twrp using odin .https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/guide-how-to-install-twrp-root-galaxy-t3752480
And While flashing renovation ice dont remove your system apps and dont do tweaks while flashing renovation ice there will be options for tweaks and removing apps but dont use them because when i did that my phone just bootloop and the next time i tried to flash it without using any advance options and then it was successful. On the first boot it may be slow or dont boot dont do anything let id do that wait and then it be all fine . I hope may this helps you and the rom is already rooted with magisk if not then tell me . I give you the link to flash super su .
Stay blessed?
