hi
my htc hero cannot detect wifi signal which are from my laptop
it can detect wifi signal from our college library (here we can connect through laptop and access internet) but cannot access through internet.
I spoke to customer service, they said I have to download some certificate and copy it on my sd-card.
plz help me...
AFAIK the Hero does not support peer to peer connection over the wifi. You have to go through a router.

iam a noob
tell me wat i have to do
i spoke to htc guys they said i have dowload some security certificates.
wat r they?
from where can i get them?
I think they are probably giving you incorrect advice. Would not be the first time.
I do not have a clue what they are talking about and can think of no certificates that you need to download that would make any difference to your problem. What you are trying to achieve is a peer to peer connection and as I said in myprevious post I do not think that is possible.

I don't believe he is trying to achieve a peer to peer connection. He's trying to connect to his colleges WiFi with his phone. The stuff about the laptop is a red herring as he is just saying that he can connect to the WiFi via his laptop.
Chances are his college WiFi uses WPA2 Enterprise, which would require a security certificate. I've never tried to do this myself, though I'm aware of an app, Wifihelper, which purports to help.

Dave

What college have you managed to convince to accept you? Your use of the English language is awfully lazy.
Try, at least, to construct meaningful sentences that contain complete words. It is so frustrating to read that it deters me from even offering you technical advice.
It will probably be best for you to test it on the laptop first to make sure its not the phone.
you need to change the wireless card to AP mode
for Windows 7 follow this http://tameyourpc.blogspot.com/2009/07/windows-7-as-wireless-access-point.html
For Vista http://lifehacker.com/software/how-to/turn-your-laptop-into-a-wireless-hot-spot-280002.php

Arrongance and stupidity walk side by side...

Glad to see someone sticking up for users :-D
Seems someone is always waiting to belittle someone just because they speak a different language!!

I would hate to be 'arrongant' - surely such a typo is a nested irony, however, in your case due to the flag your ID displays, your fallibility is understandable.

You are assuming the original poster does not speak English. I do not agree with your assumption. To me it appears the OP is simply a lazy text typer. The very fact the poster is able to take English text and condense/concatenate it suggests a mediocre level of understanding.

WOW what with nested ironies, condensation and concatenation, you are obviously much too clever for the rest of us mere mortals. We can but worship at your feet and sincerely thank you for choosing to occasionally come amongst us and show us what we are doing wrong.
But then again for most English speaking people the OP's posts, poorly crafted as they may be, are more easily understood then yours. "Correctly" written sentences with multi-syllabic words do not necessarily make for good communication. They can, however, reveal the true character of the communicator.
If this forum is happy to advocate the use of text talk then so be it. Such encouragement does nothing positive for the quality of the environment. Suggesting that the OP is unable to type due to inability is assumptive and unsubstantiated.
I ask not for worship but I do request that posters try their best to type in a way that displays a modicum of effort on their behalf. It is not 'my' forum so my request is that of a contributor, however, I do run my own phpbb forum for an angling society and do understand that such type, if encouraged lowers the cumulative value of the discussion, something I sought to point out here, which clearly not all (you are an example) favour.
QED comes immediately to mind
AFAIK (oops an acronym) this forum if for communicating, discussing and resolving problems with a particular type of mobile phone. I am not so arrogant (made sure I got the spelling right) as to favour or disfavour, or encourage or discourage the style or form that the posters of those communications, discussions or resolutions choose to use. And (there I go again starting the sentence with an and) I do not believe that choice of style in any way "lowers" their value, singularly or cumulatively.
I have learnt much from many of the posts on this, and other, forums, and the style or form that those posts took had no relevance to that education.
One of the many glories of the English language is that it continually evolves to suite its users. Whether you like it or not every generation changes our language. Mine did, my father's did and so on. If you do not like that then a short hop across the channel to join French academia is advisable, taking, of course, a large tub of aspic with you. Otherwise you are likely to end up permanently bitter and twisted.
Just one final question - can you help in any way the OP's problem? I couldn't, but at least I tried.
I could have helped the poster but I refer you to my initial comment in this thread
I suppose some of us are comfortable with the current bastardisation of what is generally a wonderful language. 'Plz' and 'thnx' and 'wivs' do not bring anything to the evolution of the matter in question. I, conversely, seek to preserve the art form but in all honesty, that is probably a reflection of my education and background. This thread is so far off the mark now, I feel a little embarrassed responding - however, in fairness I accept that the current direction is largely my doing

An education and background that has apparantly left you, from the evidence you have presented us with, unhelful (your first sentence), arrogant ("I ask not for worship ..."), and xenophobic (your slur on the Portuguese nation in a previous post). Let us hope that evidence is misleading.
The one thing we can probably agree on though is that this part of the thread has run its course.

Some people are not so far up their own arse that they can see past grammar and short hand "bastardisation" as you put it that they will help people no matter what, and as you said it is not your forum so if you do not like the users language have some respect and keep you pathetic fingers away from the keyboard instead if being disrespectful.

Dumbass. You're asking for help in committing a crime, publicly.
Sent from the void...
"Aircrack" lmao!
Rule 9....
Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Hello
Anyone can suggest a safe and solid way to replace IMEI embedded into the device? Is rooting a must for this ?
And What could be some typical drawbacks of changing IMEIs in the future?
Thanks
Xda does not allow any type of IMEI change or manipulation talk in the forums. It is rather considered illegal even if borrowing from a old phone you own.

Thanks
SacredDeviL666.
I've been browsing the internet trying to find a workaround for telus throttling my data after 30GB. I'm on an unlimited plan, and after the 30GB it's reduced to 512kbps. It's useable, but it's not enjoyable. I often see it jump to full speeds, then slowly throttle back down to 425ish kbps.
I'm on iPhone at the moment, but was considering picking up an Android device if it's possible. I've looked at a couple things like Shadowsocks proxy, a http injection technique that disguises data coming and going, but I think that's on a per carrier basis?
All in all, I'm just trying to find a solution to this that could be done on iPhone 4s, SE, or if I need an android device to even consider it. Thanks for the help and sorry for the slightly off topic nature of this.

While we appreciate your plight and inquiry, XDA does not condone discussions regarding circumvention of carrier limitations or rules as stipulated
