Where can I find the apk for Samsung's Epic stock Music player?
If you want the stock music player with a lot of cool tweaks (ie fullscreen, see-through background, gesture controls), download MusicMod from the market. Similar to but much better than stock.
thanks I'll try it but I would rather have stock music player if you have it.
I'm a fan of DoubleTwist.
Which exactly are you going for?
Sound Player or Music Player....
2.1 came with Sound Player
2.2 comes with both Sound Player and Music Player
The Music Player is the one with the 5.1ch option and Equilizer, but apparently cant play ogg :/
The fascinate music player was playing oggs just fine, it doesn't keep the tags though (So no album art), so i just converted em to high quality mp3s and got over it.

because you would first have to uninstall the music player you have when doing it locally. try using adb.
what is adb?
I found a Galaxy S system dump here. It's about 80 MB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8022126&postcount=13

Bingo. However you should check out winamp. It was just released for android recently. Much better than any other music player I've used.

I'm in the process of pulling the Music.apk out of CM5 for the Nexus1, and am going to push it to my Vibrant.
Question though... do I need to remove the current music player (/system/app/MusicPlayer.apk) before I put the CM5 one on there?
Is there anything else I should know before doing this? Thanks!
Curious, whats so good about the CM5 music player that the Samsung one doesnt have?

Well for me, I'd like it so I can use Last.fm scrobble feature. It doesn't support the Samsung one because the api is not supported and the its closed source.
@OP
Yea push it, then debug if it force closes. I'm pretty sure you might need some libs. De compiling the apk, maybe.

Ah, same reason I stopped using the Samsung music app. I love it though, just want Last.Fm support.
I use the music player called "Cubed" as in the math symbol. Its free, supports Last.Fm and is better than the stock music player. Search for it in market under the author "filipe"

I just read the Vibrant5 thread. And eugene included the stock Music player in his rom. Might want to check that out.

I flashed Eugene's hybrid rom, which didn't have the stock Samsung music player.
I then extracted his Vibrant9 rom and copied and pasted the Samsung apk into system.
I haven't uninstalled the music app, that came with the hybrid rom,but they both work fine.I just prefer the ui from the stock Samsung player.
Hey so any instruction on how to do this. I'm kind of a noob and really like that player...

I would hope that at the very least it can list more than 50 artists. The Samsung player looks nice, but it's a piece of crap for a media-centric phone if it gets overloaded by too much music.
i have the htc hd2 tmob version, runnin █ ELEGANCIA ROM Series™ █ ◄●|17 Aug.|V2 Final|6.5.5|6.5|●► █ [CHT]●[GTX]●[MaxSense], E-GTX ROM, with the dal131 (spell check) android 2.2 froyo. now when i boot into android, whether it be using haret or the dual boot, not all of my music files are recognized in the music player. now when i use the linda file explorer it shows my music in the MP3 folder and they are all in a compatible format (unless the nexus uses a diff format than the g1 and cliq use)
any ideas on why only 100 out of the 700+ music files are showing in the music player?
Also i have looked under, recently installed playlist, all songs, all artists, etc etc, and it doesnt show all the songs but it does when i boot in windows mobile
should i move the files out of the android folder and place them in the root [of the SD card]?
I'm no dev, nor am i even very knowledgeable with the programming side of the android universe.
I think it is probably because you are running android off the sd card right now. I think all your music will show up fine when a full nand version of android is released. Although, what do I know, I'm no dev.
For the heck of it go get "NSW Player" from the market and try it. Report back and let me know if that player works better.
Good luck.
hmmmz never thought of that, yea could be becuz im runnin it off the SD card, ill check if it does happen with that player or any other installed player
i just also thought i'd delete the mp3 player and let the system create its own (if it even will)
if you uninstall the stock mp3 player i don't think the system will reinstall one.

Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.

I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Do you know that you can set the folder(s) to scan for media within the options?
Also, regarding suggestions you can also disable them. Do you guys just stop on the first screen or what?

Just wondering if you're talking about the stock sense music player or Mixzing? I've hunted high and low in the stock player and can't find anywhere to tell it where to look.
Horrible yes,ok it is good, but it does not support rewind and forward on my jabra bt 3030....only back skip, and forward skip.....the sense player supports all my jabra functions....

WMP; flac
Guys, I was used to synchronize my audio library from WMP to my Android device. There are both MP3s and FLACs in the library. Since I have Nexus 4, WMP doesn't sync flac to Nexus, it writes "the player might not support the file".
I haven't found any option how to make WMP to do it. PlayerPro in Nexus plays flac without any problem. is there any setting in the devices? Or am I missing some application? The truth is, when I click on flac file in Astra file manager, it writes "Activity not found"...
One more thing. Even when I try to simly copy flac file to Nexus in widows through My Computer, it writes me that the device doesn't support that type of media...

EDIT:
I was wrong about this. Android does support FLAC natively since 3.0
Not natively, for whatever reason.
Meaning it must be implemented by a third party and some paid music players have gone that extra step.
Simpler (free) music players tend to play whatever file formats are available by the Android OS.
The default Google player and Apollo do NOT support FLAC.
Your question should be "which music players do support FLAC?"

I get the same message when I copy .mp3, or FLAC files directly to my device via a Windows box. Also, try Solid Explorer, it makes the other file managers look outdated.
I play FLAC all the time with Poweramp. If the Nexus 4 had OTG, I'd be using FLAC a lot more. However, what I normally do is download files to my phone with Dsub from my Subsonic server. I force Dsub to limit the bitrate to 320kbps, and Subsonic will automatically transcode FLAC to 320kbps. I highly recommend checking out Subsonic. It really helps you work around the small amount of space we're given in the Nexus 4. I can essentially carry my HUGE collection of music wherever I have an internet connection.

That's weird - I've been using the standard Play Music on my Nexus 4 to listen to FLAC files and it's been working fine. Unless I've misinterpreted what the OP is asking! Basically I just copy FLAC files to the Music folder, hit the 'Refresh' button in the Play Music settings and everything's okay.

Weird indeed. I couldn't play a FLAC file with Play Music as well but I've come across reports of people having no problems with it. I did test only one file and had the DRM service disabled. I was running stock 4.2.1 at the time.

Are you trying 16-bit or 24-bit FLAC files? I don't have any 24-bit ones to test so can't confirm that they work, but definitely haven't had any problems with literally hundreds of 16-bit FLAC files. Like yourself I'm also running stock 4.2.1 with no hacks/root etc. I haven't installed any other audio programs either. Prior to my Nexus 4 I was also able to successfully play FLAC natively on a Note 2 (running 4.1 I guess?) and HTC One X (probably running 4.0 but I can't remember now).

In your dream, only in the Android world. Ask Apple or Microsoft about their feeling about open standards.
For Honeycomb and newer, flac is supported on a system level. Flac is not supported by defauit for Gingerbread, but you can install certain music that have Flac codec.

As a last resort, if you can't find anything else that works, you can convert the flac files to mp3 using Lame with "--preset insane". Still technically lossy, but probably past the capability of the G6's DAC to distinguish.
