You need to call T-Mobile and get a android data plan added to your rate plan for the internet to work. Yesterday T-Mobile started their 3 Tier data plans. 200mb = $9.99/amonth, 2gb = $15.99/amonth, Unlimited = $25.99/amonth.

I recently canceled Android Data plan and got Web2Go and it works just the same. You need to change settings under Wireless & networks. There are a couple of threads here on this. Check Q & A for $10 data plan.

you need to change your APN, I bet you're still on epc.tmobile right?

If OP signed up on weekend, then he has unlimited. Anyone who signed up before gets to keep unlimited, while from now on only 2 data plans are available for new customers : 200mb for $10 or unlimited for $30 (Preferred android $20 is just given by retentions if you call and get lucky).
Go to your APN settings and change it from epc to internet2.voicestream.com and for APN type put in default, supl and thats it.

thank you smachine

ATT GoPhone

I tried this in the general forum, but got no response.
Does anyone here currently use your 8525 or similar on the ATT GoPhone service?
And if so,
Are there any issues with using it on the unlimited medianet plan for goPhones?
Is it as simple as putting the GoPhone sim in my 8525?
Is it 3G?
Thanks
Bump.
Does anyone have any input on using an 8525 on the prepaid plan?
8525 GoPhone
YES YES AND YES!!
Sign up for GoPhone (Pick Your Plan)
Thats the specific name of the plan
"Pick Your Plan"
The most is 69.99 for 650 minutes , Unlim night/Weekend , Unlim ATT 2 ATT
Then you can add MediaNet for 19.99 for unlim data to access HSDPA/UMTS
I switched to ATT for this (Bye bye TMO get 3g someday)
All in all about 90 bucks + tax for prepaid Hermes(8525) with DATA!!!
This is what im using NOW
addendum
I did a superCID and sim unlock before popping in my GoPhone SIM
I didnt even think to see if it worked before that because I was using
my TMO sim in the 8525
Well, I got my GoPhone in the mail yesterday with unlimited data.
Put the sim in my 8525 and been working great ever since, including 3G.
I got the 39.99 plan and 4.99 texting plan since most of my calls are to other att mobiles. So with tax I am around $70/mo.
I love not having a contract.
AINT IT COOL !!!
I checked my re-up
Im paying $122 after taxes OUCH
650 min, unlim ATT2ATT, Unlim N/W, Unlim DATA, Unlim Text
ok, so how do i get this? i walk into the store and say i need the cheapest gophone you have with unlimited data and pop the sim in my 8525 and walk out of the store whistling?
I signed up online. Choose the Pick Your Plan goPhone, add texting and data plan features, and checkout.
I chose the cheapest phone, a refurb for 9.99. It arrived in 2 days, at which time I took that sim and put in my 8525.
All is good.
Oh, and my I had performed super CID unlock in the past. I am not sure if this is necessary or not since mine is an ATT phone.
Works
Yep, GO Phone works just fine on the 8525, only thing is you still receive that annoying reminder each time you deduct money from your account.. Other then that works like a charm.

Do I HAVE to use that plan, or is it just the best deal in your opinion? Can I use "Pay as You Go" if I want to?
"bump".......
Can I just buy a Go Phone plan w/o data and just use WiFi
I see that I'm probably good to buy a cheap Go Phone w/SIM online, then put that SIM in my 8525. But I only want to do downloads and Internet access via my WiFi not the typical GPRS 3g cell network. So...If I get the current plan w/o any data options am I good to go? I can't see which plan would make any difference as long as I do all my data transfers via WiFi. Can anyone confirm?

any know neuxs one can use tmobile t-zone data plan?

I have hd2 now with $5.99 data plan now I think about swtich to nexus one.can I still can use that $5.99 data plan?!or must $24.99?
anyone know.if not are there any other way to resolve it?
i'm using it now and have since day 1 of the N1 release and for a year with the iphone before that
same here. thats the only reason i got the nexus. so far so good! and the nexus is freaking SWEET!
guys wait....what data plan you have? the 24.99 one or 5.99one??!
The lowest data plan on the t-mobile site I see is $10 for "unlimited web".
Can one of you guys provide a link to the t-zones plan? thanks.

yes, now there isn't 5.99 anymore, right now it is 9.99
paullu is correct. If you've been with TMO since they had $5.99 tzones and still have it on your plan, you can have that. I think there's even a user of these forums that claims to still have $2.99 tzones. If neither of those apply to you, the cheapest you can now get it for is $10 by saying you have some non-smartphone but want the internet access for some strange reason and make them believe you.
I'm using the 5 dollar plan since the middle of january.
As others have said, the $5.99 TZones plan is only available if you have it grandfathered in on your plan. Using this plan is a classic "trick" for any unlocked smartphone device that you use on your line... works with unlocked iPhones and other devices.
Unfortunately, I am a sucker and have the standard $24.99 plan.
yeah i got my data plan a year ago or so, 5.99tzones. im one of the lucky ones who are now grandfathered so my internet is cheaper. but my minutes arent!
Beware I had the $5.99 plan for years but at some point it morphed into the $9.99 TmobileWeb plan. When I got the N1 it switched off several times. I noticed that setting my phone in the my.tmobile.com webpage to a dumbphone seemed to reset it to work again. That worked for January and February but it failed two weeks ago. I am guessing that Tmo somehow identifies smartphone users (especially the N1) and has gotten more aggressive about their data plans.

When I first got the Nexus One, I was on the iPhone 3G with the $9.99 plan. I poped in my sim card, and I had bypassed all the screens, logged onto my google account and the contacts were synced already. It showed the 3G logo and when I called up T-Mobile, they said the Android Internet plan isn't required but I still bumped it up to the Android plan anyways.

Can I use prepaid + web2go (T Zone) together?

currently I have a Tmobile prepaid dumb phone and am thinking about buying a nexus one.
I heard that I can use web2go at 9.99 a month for data. Can I use prepaid + Web2go on my new Nexus one? Or I must sign a voice contract to get the web2go?
I'm almost certain that you need a voice plan to get web2go. Doesn't require an actual contract (it can be month to month) though.
29.99 voice plus 9.99 data no contract
Unfortunately N1 is considered to be a smartphone and the web plan starts from $25 + 29.99 talk plan(500 minutes) or talk+text+web $59.99.
Freshest data, today went to talk to the T-Mobile store rep, cuz (Pakistani or India) over the phone customer service sux!!! LOL Hope it helps.

Don't tell T-Mobile you have a Nexus One. Do what I did and use an old Nokia or something to activate, with a web2go plan. Test it out, make sure all works.
Put the SIM in your Nexus, use the internet2.voicestream.com APN (*not* epc.tmobile.com), and you're all good with 'unlimited' 3G for $10 per mo.
If you do this, you can manage to get voice + data at $39/mo + taxes, etc of course. If you want unlimited txt, it'll be $49.
thanks a lot to all of you guys for the detailed info. seems that I need a voice plan to get web2go. Too bad that I don't really need the phone function a lot. But 39$ for both voice and data is not too bad.

T-Mobile US APN for Android w/ $10 data plan

Hello, I've been having problems with my HD2 running Androids. I currently have the $10 data plan which works perfectly fine with the apn on internet2.voicestream.com
however, I cannot get the picture message to work for the life of me. Does anyone have any info to point me in the right direction?

From what I know of there Isn't a 10 unlimited plan its impossible... I would be on it, they might have given you a certain amount of mb for you to use and if you pass that, you get charged extra every time.

Not if you had tzones added on a non-smartphone before getting the HD2. I have the TZones internet as well that was added back when I had a Nokia phone
T-zone used to be $5 which used wap.voicestream.com in the past. I think the current T-zone is call Web2go and it's for $10; has restricted access to website. You can try using epc.tmobile.com, the new data access point. Please, tell me how it goes.
I Love the 10 dollar unlimited plan.
Ive been rocking this 10 plan on truly unlimited data for many, many months now.
All you had to do was sign up on my t mobile, select the shadow as your phone, go to edit your services, remove your internet, re-add unlimited web for phones 10 dollar option, wait 24-48 hours, manually enter APN internet2.voicestream.com
There you have it, will check to see if the option is still there, if you had it, you are GRANDFATHERED in FOREVER!! 4.5Mbps Download 1.4 Mpbs Upload on Unlimited 10 dollar plan, only works with the hd2 for the Hspa.
Plan not available anymore, 4G 200MB for $15 or an Unlimited 4G option for $30.
64.00 unlimited everything is very nice with this HD2 on Android, lol.
He's right it works..... But T-mobile doesn't give you that plan anymore... if you know someone with that t-zone phone buy him his phone and take over his plan.. lolol... it's best thing to do... Cuz all T-mobile internet APN works on 3G frequencies...
Cuz it's true that we don't need anything else these days... we can text, make phone calls and all that over the mobile data plans....(Google voice, SIP, Ect...) But companies Knows That..lol.. so now you can't buy a data plan by it self anywhere... Bastards trying to make money..lol...
Like me I have a sidekick data Plan Unlimited for 30 bucks (Unlimited 3g Data & Text) I have it in my HD2 with Android on it... with the sidekick APN (hiptop.t-mobile.com)
And the 3g and text works very good...
Those plans are not gonna come back..lolol...
So back to the original question on getting the mms with pics to work, has anyone got it to work?
Gigabyte01
I had the edge plan for $10 on my Iphone for awhile and it worked great. Tried to do it for my G1 and it would not work and then my iphone broke and I was without a phone so I had to give up the $10 unlimited data... I doubt I will be able to get it back ever. I had to fight with them to get the plan in the first place.

Coming from unlimited data plan

Anyone that upgraded to an atrix that had an unlimited data plan have to change plans for atts supposed 4g service or did u get to keep unlimited?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You can keep your unlimited if you are grandfathered in. A simple search would have answered that for you.
Thanks for the answer and the extra criticism

what my buddy at ATT had to do for me was change me to the unlimited enterprise data connection in order to keep it through the upgrade process and not have to bump me down to 2GB and then call and have it reactivated. For some reason when they came out with the new plans for data the old sku for unlimited data wont push through their system onto the newest phones, for example when u update to the atrix. His coworker noticed that if you switch the plan to unlimited enterprise during as you process the upgrade, itll stick with unlimited without them having to call in to support and have it reactivated. (much less hassle)
The price is the same, and theres no penalty for switching to this plan, but he said i have exchange support or something now? i'm not sure, its not something i'd use.
so if you want the most painless transition just toss the idea out there to get switched to enterprise unlimited for 30 and itll stick. say a little birdie told you

You don't even have to do that. As long as you are already on some sort of grandfathered PDA data plan(ie. BB, iPhone, SMT) it will show in the system the
"4G" unlimited option.
All I did was call up at&t and made sure I kept my unlimited plan...They said no problem and switched me over to the "Smartphone Unlimited Data Plan" I had more trouble with text plans more than anything, seems I had the iPhone 1500 text plan and they don't carry it no more so i had to upgrade to the unlimited plan. Not much of a difference just 5.00 more I really didn't care but I when I called and question them about it they said they would also start a case and see if they could get my old plan back. But back to the data no real problems at all on call one supervisor and they gave me unlimited data again.
I had no issues with keeping my unlimited plan at all.
It's a simple billing code change for the Atrix.
Here are the billing codes for consumer unlimited data plans. (Enterprise plans not listed)
iPhone unlimited code is
GPRS WAP UNLTD DOM - CMB1
3G Smartphone unlimited code is
GPRS WAP UNLTD DOM - DPPB
4G smartphone unlimited code is
GPRS WAP UNLTD DOM - HSDPPB

Its supposed to be the 4G unlimited so I would call and change it. The rep changed mine right in the store, not sure why they don't do it for everyone.

rjohnstone is correct the three codes listed above are the grandfather unlimited smartphone (non enterprise) plans you should see if you previously had them prior to the 200/2000/4000 rate plans AT&T sells now.
I just changed my last phone (Captivate) to the Atrix
and on my data rate section only it shows both PRS WAP UNLTD DOM - DPPB
and GPRS WAP UNLTD DOM - HSDPPB listed but each have a legend number listed showing they removed me from DPPB 3G to HSDPPB 4G unlimited.
I am testing the theory by downloading TF2 (10GB) now =)

So where on my account do I check what data plan code I have?
It's called the Smartphone Personal plan, 4G version.
My account just says Smartphone plan unlimited. It doesnt say 3g or 4g. Should I assume 4g or should i call them to confirm?
