Slow 3g speeds, something is wrong, tried everything!

Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a quagmire. I have an evo, on boost which was working very well. For some reason, i started to get connection errors, and for a while I struggled with error 67 and 104's. Got past that. Problem is that my 3g speed and connectivity suck, and by that I mean 900+ pings and .11-.13 in speedtest, not to mention the disconnecting. Sounds like a PRL issue right? Updated that yesterday (manually through cdma workshop obviously since im on boost) and still nothing, same speeds. Is this a settings issue? Is there something I am doing wrong? I am on a stock sense with root.
I am seriously considering selling the phone at this point. My iphone never gave me this kind of grief on simple.

Well then that's probably his problem, as the Evo is not meant to run on boost. Hacking it to run on another network is bound to give you problems.

First of all it was working fine until recently. That 50 page thread was basically edit the host file to 0000 which did nothing. Anyone wsnna contribute and not send me on a wild goose chase? Cake will b given

Boost is on sprints network, so perhaps his experience is the shared experience some of us are getting

No answers, but I'm having the same problem on the Sprint 3g network. Also getting 1000+ ms pings and download speeds have been less than 100 kbps since Friday. 4g seems to be working fine (when I can connect). Don't know if it is a coincidence, but change occured after PRL 01115 update.

Anyone?

You don't need to keep bumping your thread. If you read the post I gave, you would know this is a nationwide issue with sprint. Their towers are overloaded. I haven't gotten above 100kbps on sprint since November.

And if you read what I said,i was fine until one week ago, and something changed. If sprint had this issue w every customer 24/7 they would be out if business. Again, reading the post helps. STOP digging in your heels. This is a software issue for most ppl, hence why I am here looking for an answer

And again, if you read the data speeds thread, you would see that this EXACT thing happens to many people. Some people will have normal data speeds for a few days, then dial-up speeds for a few days.

I'd say try updating your data profile if you were on sprint...but boost...no idea

I have updated my profile many times with no change. I agree that it may be something software (or EVO) related because I did simultaneous side-by-side speed tests on my son's Hero and my EVO, both on 3g with the same signal strength. The Hero was getting dowloand speeds 3-4 times faster than my EVO. I repeated many times with similar results.

Try that 1)phone>##3282#>edit mode (must now your MSL passcode)>data profile>push menu button>restore>commit mode....that's it. worked for me

Is there a way to backup before I do this? If I lose my boost settings I will not be able to restore them since i am not very good with cdma/qpst

Well In my case it's not changed anything but I got a normal data speed, and anyway you can't backup this settings. Your own risk

I take back every good thing I've said about EH06 working with Bamboozle. I went on my bi-weekly trip to NYC and had no problem locking gps. But it would drop after 5 minutes and I'd have to close Navigator and restart the trip. I received poor wifi signal in places where I normally am fine. And finally, and this one blows my mind....I lost 4G every 15 min. I'm in New York City. The best city in the world. In broad daylight. In the heart of downtown. I've never not had 4G in NY since I got this phone. I didn't like EG22 with bamboozle because it slayed my battery life and I don't like EH06 because it sucks. I'm gonna try EE03 with it, then back to SRF if it doesn't work out.

i live in nyc and earlier i couldnt get a 4g signal for the LIFE of me. Eventually after like an hour i got a lock but it went away after a few minutes.
I dont think its eh06 cuz ive had amazing signal everyother day BUT today.
eh06 actually gives me better reception than ec05...

EL30 and 1X

Does anyone else find with EL30 that their phone seems to go to 1X a lot more than before, and is slow to come out and go to 3G?

If you mean the modem, yes...thought it was CM9.

Yes, also on cm9a5 and I gets lots of lag when connected to 3g. Barely connect to 4g

Thank you for posting this, I did seem to notice this today, it's like wtf? I could of sworn I had good signal in the past, then I seem to realize places where I had good bars is now a lot less. I thought it was CM9 too but it could be the damn modem. Guess we'll see what the future holds, wether it be a leak modem, or official.

It could be the modem. I've been on EH17 modem (too lazy to change) and I've noticed no decrease in my signal strength.

Agreed.........signal on FB15 is a definite improvement over EL30 in this area.

I'm not sure if fb15 is better yet because sprint is screwing up my test!

I'm seeing 1x a lot today in areas I would normally have 4 bars of 3g

I'm seeing a lot of 1x as well, I was on ec05 and had great signal but slow dl speeds but great signal but when I odind the fb15 I topped my all time high dl speed at 1.7 with one bar but still a lot of 1x. Crazy huh

+1 for it being sprint. I have been having it happen a lot lately and I am on EI22.

Is this result of the move to network vision? Or are they working on towers now?!? Hence the feast or famine signal.

Tmobile Is having service issues ATM

Yeah they sure are... I've noticed many people have the delayed text message problem. I too thought it was a rom issue but I guess not. Any idea on how long until things are back to normal?

Anyone know if its affecting data at all? I ask because my phone has lost data on two roms so far today whereas my wife's Nexus S running stock, rooted ICS is having no issue sending or receiving texts or data.

OK so talked to T-Mobile anyone in California might be experiencing problems due to downed towers if you call and go threw all the basic stuff they can try and reset your network. Might help get data back. Should be all fixed tomorrow 8 in the morning according to the Rep...

Same issue here in Washington State....sms issues. Is anyone having issues with data just randomly being slow or not working at all? I got my sgs2 about two weeks ago and ive been having data slowness or no data at all.

I was having problems with slow data since about 4pm yesterday, and was having issues with wifi calling from like 2000-2300 yesterday night. Wifi calling came back before midnight, haven't checked data yet because I've been on wifi.

No issues here in Pittsburgh pa.

I may retire the Supersonic today...

For an HTC One V with Cricket (yes, because of budget issues). I still plan on keeping the EVO, and will even donate it to developers of needed. But my question is, besides the One V, what other HTC no-contract phones do you think I would enjoy after all my time with the supersonic? Something I can modify with OC and UV and sound mods. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and again, hit me up if a dev needs a perfectly working EVO! Thanks.

You'd be better off getting a samsung device, less hassle to root and more development due to the easier rooting. Plus all the samsung devices are selling way more than htc now. Lots of ppl have come from the evolte to the sgs3 or note 2 from terrible reception and lte > 3g/wifi handoff issues where the data just drops out til a reboot.
I like to break stuff!

The cricket service on the 3vo is way better than sprint. My of evo gets 1.5 on 3g and the 3vo usually gat about 2.2 on 3g. Yes rooting is a pain but has gotten easier with a bootable CD ROM. Plus for around 100 for a used one with bad ESN how can you go wrong.

Good advice, I appreciate it. I ended up just flashing the EVO, but immediately afterwards I changed my number on their website and dialed *228 and let my phone reboot, now 3g internet doesn't work at all. Talk and text are fine.

I hope you flashed it yourself. When ever you change your number you have to open qpst and change it in there also to get you data to work. Now before you change anything you will want to make sure you read from the phone and then save that information on the pc. I normally call it whatever the old phone number was. Then you want to make sure you write down the IMSI_S number. It is in the cdma tab. Now go through the tabs and change all the old numbers to the new one. Then go back to the cdma tab and make sure the IMSI_S number is correct and then save that profile. Now write to your phone and once it reboots you will have data again.

I got a one v for my gf. its decent. screen is a little small and dont like the sealed battery. sound is good because of the beats audio. as far as rooting, not sure. she wont let me touch it

This is helpful, when I try it I'll get back to you. I'm at the library now to use internet but can't install such programs here due to policies, ect. I'll try again either tomorrow over the weekend.

And no, I paid forty bucks to cricket to flash. And when I tried to go to a closer one to reflash they said I had to pay 20 bucks or go to the store I initially flashed at. How lame is that?

Sure you can hit me up here or my email which would be a little quicker to get any extra help you need. I have flashed two evo's and a 3vo myself and helped out on many more. Plus my last girlfriend liked to change her number every few months so fixing that will be a snap.

If you want to, you can keep using your EVO on Ting (a Sprint MVNO). Ting allows you to BYOD and I've brought two EVOs over without any problems. No overage penalties and refunds for what you don't use.
If you don't use tons of data (or are always within range of wifi), it can be very cheap. If you stream movies all day, it'll cost you an arm and a leg, though.
Think of it as the open-source carrier.

I actually was just on Ting, haha, they're good service but too expensive, I like unlimited data.
Yeah so reflashing with cricket to regain 3g and mms is a no go right now, cricket wants to charge me and I can't do that right now. I'll be sure to shoot you an email in my attempts to get my phone working again.

I've been using DK reincarnation. I messed up msl programming and got it reflashed at a repair place, 3g works but gets an error message every half hour or so and mms is a no go. I'm gonna do it myself when I get the time.
