You say you downloaded a bigger root fs file, have you tried booting without it?
Hi,
I have a question about the Froyo 2.2 Android on HTC HD 2.
- I have performed a HSPL succesfully and updated my Radio to R: 2.10.50.28_2, also succesfully.
- I downloaded the Android folder and a bigger rootfs file.
- I formatted my SD card to FAT32.
- Now I extracted the Android folder to the SD Card and after that I first tapped CLRCAD and then I (tried)installed HARET.
But here's the problem.. when I click HARET to install it brings me to a black screen with a few small text lines in the left-above corner and these dissapear after 2seconds and bring me to the HTC boot screen where the screen is white and you see HTC in green letters.
What am I doing wrong? . I really hope someone can help me with this.
Laurens
That is what is supposed to happen. Honestly it's asked about a dozen times here every day. While it's on that HTC screen it is creating the data store which takes between 10 and 30 mins depending on lots of different things.

I know that is what is supposed to happen, but wThat's not it. The htc title screen is just for 10 seconds and then it just reboots and I need to enter my password and the phone is totally normal... On the youtube videos I saw that when you click the Haret, there first are a lot of text lines going down but that does not happen to me either. I really don't know whats wrong and I hope that someone can help me, because I un derstand that I probably sound like a moron

First thing, If you smoke, go grab your smokes, if you drink coffee, go grab a cup. This is usually a painless process but not always.
You will need HSPL installed, as well as a Class 4 or better sd card.
Before i begin i want to thank the following; with out them it would not be possible.

THANKS GUYS!!
What you will need is the installation copy of the build that you will be using, the latest zImage and your sdcard.
The latest Android build can be found here: Its under the standard builds section.
http://gamesquare.co.uk/
And the latest Zimage can be found here:
http://cotulla.pp.ru/leo/Android/
I personally recommend the dan1j3l's Froyo build.
Down load both the zimage and the build.
Format your sdcard, select default settings and unselect the quick format option.
After the formatting is done (about 20 mins)
extract the contents of the Froyo build to your sdcard.
Located in the folder "android" you will find a file names zimage, replace it with the one you downloaded.
WITH YOUR USB PLUGGED INTO A POWER SOURCE, reboot your phone.
As soon as you can, using the built in file manager if u have one, navigate to the android folder, select the program CLRCAD, (it will not do anything that you can see)
Then select the Zharet program.
Lay the phone down!
Sit back and wait, you will see text fly across the screen, the flash might flash, screen might fade and then come back.
Once linux is done loading and mapping out the hardware, android should be up and running.
Sign in to google and your contacts will sync if you have any on there.
Android is not perfect yet BUT it has come an amazing way since the beginning of the month.
I am using the current settings in WM, if you can do the same and you should have no problems.
SA TMOBILE HD2
HSPL2, I know HSPL3 is/has been out and is recommended, but is there any advantage in using it, i don't want to change if i don't need to
Radio 2.10.50.26
O.S. 5.2.21908 (21908.5.0.93)
Manila 2.5.20161332.0
Energy.Leo.21908.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.16 (absolutely love the energy roms, always updated and he includes the program to back up all settings making the update flashes a pleasant experience)
i ALWAYS TASK 29 before all roms!
CLASS 4 or better sd card.
When ever you want to load android, you must do so by selecting the two files mentiond above after a clean boot and always clrcad.exe first.
Sometimes android will not boot correctly, remember it was not designed for this phone.
Also all settings you make, programs you download, ect will stay in android
Pictures and such will be shared between android and wm.

I'm installing it now per your instructions. A couple of concerns you might be able to help me with. I could not find the program CLRCAD in any folder, ok I couldn't find an android folder either. I went to my SD card where I had extracted the froyo & copied over the Zimage, I didn't see a Zharet program but I did see a haret file that looked like a program so I clicked on it and it started to download Linux! I hope I did it correctly even though it seemed slightly different. am I going to run into trouble not having run the CLRCAD?
Thanks for all your hard work.
Guess I answered part of my question. It did not install correctly. I'll look for a CLRCAD and retry.
cant believe im back in the winmo forum once again.ran HARET froyo last night on my HSPL2 Leon RoM,and wow.with wifi i was browsing, playing 3d games(flawless compare to my EVO 30fps capped),and watching youtube.really loving it.glad no one bought my HD2 but now its a keeper.

I Found CLRCAD ( I think I was just a little sleepy last night when I was trying this) I ran it and it loaded correctly. Wow it seems to run great! I am running Touch-X Extreme ROM and have some issues with the phone(it doesnt work, I have no antenna). I will try loading energy's rom (since so many people have got the phone to work well with his) and see how well it works out.
Good luck!
Do we really need to format our SD card? If we don't what would happen to the data already on there?
is the "zimage" provided for both dan's froyo and desire v4?
which files do i replace with the new zimage?
After a few days of use, this build seems to run fine. Except for a few things. 1) my phone tends to run real *hot* after using Android. And second, after about 5 min of idling the screen goes black and there seems like there's nothing I can do about except to reboot. I can't even push any of the bottom buttons, that doesn't work either. on. It will run just fine as long as I don't let it sit to long without touching the screen. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I can't wait for a even more stable build.
why cant i sign into google and other networks and why is it running overclocked? help me out yall got daaaamn lol. thanks
Is Paradoxua's Froyo build more stock than daniel's? Because daniels' uses ADW, which I'm not too fond of.
Also, is anyone else experiencing weird scrolling issues? Like you flick down a list and it's supposed to go flying down, but it only goes down like a tiny bit.
Another issue, when the screen turns off while you're connected to PC, the phone seems to disconnect too. I assume this is a WinMo issue because in WinMo when you connect your phone to your PC the screen is always on.
Thread moved to General.
i got my hd2 to load android just fine.. but the screen is very dim.. any ideas??
maybe you can toggle the backlight settings in winmo.. idk. it works for the tp2.
I always get the green screen or death or it enters android and quickly says powering off. And shuts off.

you need to make sure automatic light is off in win mo before you boot up android and i always leave it at around 60% and it works fine.
I have also been having some scrolling issues. It goes down a tad bit and if you hold the screen for a fraction of a second too long after first setting your finger on the screen, then it acts as if you did a holding touch.
Also the 3g is very very slow, kinda makes the market place useless since it takes for ever to download something. Wifi downloading is working.
New zimage file
Try replacing your current zimage file with this one.
http://cotulla.pp.ru/leo/Android/Cotulla_zImage_CABDET_NOSPEEDDY.rar
Just replace/override it on your sd card.
Also delete your cache folder and your data file.
You will loose your information inside of android, like doing a reset of the OS.
Check this http://cotulla.pp.ru/leo/Android/ often, fair warning many people are having problems with the newer image marked(7-25)
Some roms or radios wont work for sure!
I am now running MIRI rom wm6.5 V17.6 with radio 2.12.50.02.2 and I must say very impressive how far you devs have come in a few weeks. Phone is working with audio and WIFI. I had stock rom TMO 2.13 installed with radio 2.10 and although Android loaded and ran fine I did not have audio during calls, they sounded robotic at times or no audio at all. I am not sure if it was the radio upgrade or switching the ROM to MIRI that did the trick. I have been playing with phone for approximately six hours nonstop and it has been solid...

anyone know how to get the data connection to work for T-Mobile on the Android desire v5? I go into APN settings but it always requires a username and password but t-mobile doesnt use a username/password for apn.

What you are doing wrong is not being patient.
Erase and reformat your SD card. Then recopy the Android folder from whatever build you are trying to use.
Then ClrCad; Haret; then WAIT..... Green HTC logo can last up to 20 min as it is writing a 1 GB data file.
Be patient.
hi everyone i am currently trying to install android 3.2 on my htc hd2 and the steps i am following are to copy the android folder to the root of my sd card and then once i have done this then to tap on the CLRCAD file then tap the haret file then a loading bar comes up then goes to a black screen and in small writing in the top left hand corner it says
haret boot

i have repeated this process a dozen times to ensure that i have not missed anything out last nite i made sure that the battery was fully charged and also i updated my rom from the htc website to the latest version as i have read that some people cant get android working at all unless they did this. i did the process until i got the black screen again and left it all night thinking that it may take a long timer as it is the first time i have ever tried loading android but i woke up and the screen was still there i am not sure what i have done wrong i have watched videos on youtube and read forums but no one else seems to have had this problem any help would be greatly appriciated thanks
i have just tried to boot an older version of froyo android the 2.2v i got past the first black screen and it went to the black screen where the white writing starts to scroll down the the writing faded into white lines what am i doing wrong
back up your sdcard contents to your computer.
format it, preferably from a linux box. if your stuck with win-blows, then you can do a full format, not the quick format.
now put JUST THE ANDROID folder on the sdcard.
put sdcard in phone, boot into android. when it boots, dont do ANYTHING for 5 min. reboot.
once it reboots, goahead and log in, synch etc.... then reboot
after that you can coppy the rest of the sdcard contents back over and be good to go.
which winmo rom, radio rom, and android build are u using?
i am using the darkstone froyo 3.7 build i am not sure what radio is or which one i am using i will try what you have suggested and let you know how it goes
right i formated (full) the sd car using windows vista the only way i could do this is plugging my phone into my laptop using the usb and formatting it that way
then i copied just the android folder to my sd card
rebooted the phone and went to file explorer opened the android folder doulbe clicked on clrcad then on haret
i was then stuck on the screen that i was before so i waited 5 mins just like you said to rebooted the phone and it was still on windows.
i repeated the same steps and waited ten minutes still no luck
also just so i understand after i waited five minutes should i be able to reboot the phone i do i have to pull the battery out like i did and where you put (when it reboots login etc)
is there any way you could email me a file to see if it is the files i am using
thanks for all you help so far guys!!!!
i am from th UK i dont know if that makes a difference
i have a 2gb sd card
i have just done some research on the radio versions and round a thread called master radio for the htc hd2 on xda but i am unsure which one to use and could this be the root of my problem thanks again
OS version 8.2.2.1869(21869.5.0.82)
manila version 2.5.20121429.0
ROM version 1.72.206 (8637200) WWE
ROM date 04/15/10
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol version 15.32.50.07U
i have just done a bit more research and found out that i need to use a .50 for flashing could this be a problem if i dont could this be th root of my problem
very big part I'd say.... It does say on just about EVERY build that you need a .50 radio NOT a .51....

no, depending on the class (speed) of your card it'll take 15-20 min to initalize on the first boot... theres alot going on in the background.
once its booted...ie: once it shows the initial android log in screen. ie: it has actualy booted into android.
if you pull the battery in the middle of the first boot, you just corupted the data it was writing.
format the card again - get rid of the corupted files.
now start over.
and yes, you got to have the corect radio installed etc.
most roms have a requirements list... if not folow the stickies.
as ive stated a ton of times in a ton of thereads, its worth installing ether droid explorer or adb on your pc if for no other reason but to be able to run a logcat so you can watch it run comandline, aswell as post it so others can help you debug/troubleshoot.
I have the same issue with linux showing that message then it boots up a green htc sign and stays there.. i left it there for 40 minutes waiting to see if anything would happen and never did. I had android running before but did a full format on my sd card and then installed another and this happens everytime i try.
I am running Miri_Dinik- V 19.0 WWE
Radio: 2.15.50.14
I also am using the 16g sd card that came with my tmo hd2
i have been searching for days for an answer and decided to finally make a post to see if i can get any answers
thanks
So ive been going through a few different SD builds for my HTC HD2. and all of a sudden the last 3 dont load past the HTC loading screen. right now im trying to get the newest MCCM GB sense build i think its 1.8 going. but they all freeze. some people said it takes about 20 mins to get up and running, but i wait 30-60 mins and it stays there. Maybe i deleted a folder that allows it to boot up properly? help please!
bump for help
Please help!
Did you add the relevant directory and boot type to the "set cmdline=" line of startup.txt?
Considering i have no idea what that is. probably not. but ive never added that before and ive always been able to boot android up on the first try.
Heres a basic play b play
I load up my phone (WM)
i go to my file explorer, sd card, and android. i do my sound (clrclad or w/e) and then run Haret.exe. it starts up, black screen says booting from kernel, and it goes to HTC logo. and stays there.
If you have copied the ROM to SD in a folder called "Android" to boot from SD then you would add "rel_path=Android nand_boot=0" in quotes to the line "set cmd_line=" in startup.txt in the Android directory.
Yeah... its already in there....
Got the same problem today! Tried several different SD builds with no luck. Now on darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 it restarts the phone after the green logo...
It might be a bat sd card format or maybe because i tried to do a task29 several times without success
Got it working
Flash a normal HSPL - 2.08 and unplug from USB while performing first HARET start!
Someone might be able to show me in the right direction.
Been trying to load several android roms on my hd2. Everyone has been a SD version, But for some reason the installation stops at the initial black screen with "micro size" text. Am I doing something wrong not getting past that screen?
Please help. Been trying fo 6 hours now, about to give up.
Tx for help guys,
/Wiklander
What do the last few lines of 'micro size text' say? If it's truly failing to boot, there's usually a clue in there as to why.
What build are you currently trying to boot up?
The first boot up can take quite awhile, sometimes 5-10 minutes. Let it go for a good while, and if it still won't boot, report back with what build it is, and the last 5 lines or so of the white micro size text. Good luck
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I think the last line in the boot screen was jumping to kernel or something like that. Dont know if that helps..
After it says that, does the screen change to black with a green HTC logo, or stay with the white text? The older initrd.gz's showed all the text, while the newer ones cover it with the HTC screen. Was there like 100 lines of code or just a few?
It sounds like it's failing to load the kernel.

Yeah, I sometime also experienced as you did
You can try to reformated your SD card and dont put any files except the Android rom files. And when your copy the Android files from PC, use Card Reader. Also try to combine with other winmo roms, because sometime it just works when you use other winmo roms. Also try redownload and do MD5 checksum to ensure the downloaded file is correct and not corrupted
If it still fails, you can try use with a brand new sd card.
Good luck
Goodluck
first make sure your SD card is error free, it means you have to check it using any aoftware, windows explorer will do, just right-click the card on My computer, go to properties-tools and check it for errors. I also recommend formatting it, make sure you uncheck quick format, choose FAT32 for file system and 32 for cluster size (not smaller!) and again.
also, read the build's info again, some builds require you creating a config file before you start, like the one in my sig, if so, you have to create that file before you start android.
hope that helps
