[Q] wifi doesn't work at any android build - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi,
I tried multiple builds, but wifi didn't work at any of them. I found out that most probable reason is inabilty to get MAC address for wifi.
dmesg:
wlan: dhd_preinit_ioctls: can't get MAC address , error=-110
I tired to modify startup.txt, but no results. I found that similar issue was resolved for other htc devices (tilt 2, touch pro 2) by correction of wifi-nvram.txt. I couldn't find that file on builds for hd2.
It would be greate if anyone could you say which file is responsible for setting up MAC address for wifi.. Or what can I try else..
Thank you!
* reposted from HD2 Android development.. It seems I've tried everything I could..

Disable WPA2 in WM 6.1 device

Hello to everybody. I tried to search this forums, but didn't find the solution.
Is it possible to disable WPA2 wifi authentication in windows mobile 6.1 device? I have issues with connecting to WPA2/AES network (device crashes to black screen). Manual setting to WPA/TKIP does not work, because it is overrided with WPA2/AES.
Some information here on the MSDN website:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa916274.aspx
There doesn't seem to be anything to disable WPA2 though
Thanks for the links. But after long time googling and reading some technical stuff, I am more and more convinced, that it is hardcoded into wifi drivers and it isn't possible to change it .
Better solution should be use of correct-WPA2-working driver, but I am neither programmer, nor experienced cooker to use driver from different type of WPA2-working device with same wifi chip.
EDIT: I found, that it crashes before showing of login dialog (PEAP auth), so that must be problem with WPA2 pre-authenication.

I have WPA2/AES working on my Kaiser with the (almost) stock 5.2.19212 ROM. I did update the WiFi driver in my kitchen though (TNETW1251.dll version 3.55, dated 10/06/2008). I have never had any issues with WPA2 though, even before I upgraded to WM6.1.

I have Vox and it crashes with every ROM, original & custom without difference. Mainboard replacement didn't solve this problem, so that must be software issue. Where did you get that updated TNETW1251.dll? Here I only found patched one for ICS.

I can't remember where I got it from originally - more than likely a post in the Kaiser ROM Development forum. I am not sure its the same driver on the VOX but here it is anyway (just delete the .zip extension).

Too bad, another driver for same wifi chip doesn't work (doesn't load on startup). Maybe because of different chipset. But thanks anyway.

titan wifi won't load, no MAC address, need help

My MAC address must have been messed up when I used ppckitchen buildOS
I no longer see a MAC address.
this is not a HERMES, so don't bother me with that thread.
anybody know how to reprogram my MAC ADDRESS ?
trust me, I read many threads, searched hard.
will a Verizon reset to stock rom fix this?

[Q] Same old MAC Address problem, different question?

It occurred to me that there must be some kind of really easy solution to the problem of cracking a windows phone and applying Android and ending up with the WiFi MAC Address conflict issues...
I have 00:90:4c:c5:00:34, but my "real" MAC address ends in :38...
My guess is, there is a string in some bit of code, somewhere, a config file or a boot file, or some hardware file that has this MAC address in it.
Wouldn't it be easy to just go into that line in the code or config files and change it?
Or am I making this too simple?
Is this some kind of default address handed out when a program fails to find a proper MAC Address (nand not working, etc)?
I have searched all day for a solution, and tried 3 or 4 that I found without success.
So my questions are:
1) If this "default" MAC Address (00:34) is in a config or other file, what file would that be?
or
2) is there a simple way to change the MAC Address some other way, so I can get all 3 of these devices on the same network?
I have Android 2.2, Kernel 2.6.32.15r8.4-gb02a70d (hastarin... #66), Build 2.29.405.2 CL263770, Software Sergio Core Droid Desire V0.8...
On an HTC HD2.
(maybe there is a better distribution that gives me this same kind of look and feel that might work better for this problem?)
Thanks in advance for your consideration and help.
