Lag on boot up - Desire HD General

Does anyone experience any lag on restart (bootup) as for about 5 mins I get CPU on 100%. Never did this when I first had this phone. On os monitor it says Customization is the reason for high CPU. I just thought with the high spec it shouldn't lag for that long or even shouldn't lag at all.
Also when I put device to sleep I notice lines for that split second on screen is that normal?
Thanks in advance

Mine started doing this a week again. I go to Settings > Applications > Development and switch the USB Debugging on. If it is already on, i switch it off and on again. The CPU goes right down to 15-30%.
I hope it is going work for you as well.

Hello
Does anyone have any idea why the device takes 4 seconds to come on ??????
the artix rooted
Mine takes less than a second. There have been a few times when it took a little longer, but that's pretty rare.
I'm rooted, but I stuck with Blur.

Are you underclocking? I have SetCPU set to lower mhz's when the screen is off, which I noticed did cause it to take longer to come on, once the profile was set.
underclockink ??? what is this ???

Its when you set it so the CPU can't go above a certain mhz to save power. Opposite of that is over clocking which makes the CPU go faster.

Completely stock
If you installed live wallpapers from market don't use them, I had same problems with some, sometimes took some time to wake up. However the stock ones are fine.

it take sometime. More then 4 second.

The device is clean. Only Rooted no apps and no wallpaper
I've been having issues with this too. I definetly hope this gets resolved at some point. My captivate was on as soon as I hit the button.

My G.Note does not use the 1.4Ghz

Hi all, I have been seeing some screenshots that other people post about the sleep issue and there is one major difference from mine.
Note sure why, but my Note does not use the 1.4ghz and 1ghz frequencies. I am running a stock gingerbread unrooted ROM.
Is everything alright? I do play some intensive games on it, so I am not sure why it doesn't use its full power.
Please see the screenshot attached.

Wow you are honestly complaining why your phone doesn't use 1400 MHz and I'm here dreading why my note keeps using 1400 MHz draining my battery
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thats actually a good thing, higher frequencies = greater battery drain. My note also rarely jumps over 800Mhz even though i play intensive games like modern combat 3
Discovered after each reset or power up, Note deep sleep and processor speed unstable.
Mostly mine run on 200Mhz, rarely above 500Mhz.
Stock 4.0.3 LP5/LP9/LP9 Rooted.

Do you have System Power Saving mode on? That mode can underclock the processor to save power, so if you're using it try switching it off.
I can see from screen shot power saving mode is enabled. Please disable then it will work.

Yep, that is indeed the problem. The sign for the power saving mode can be seen. Deactivating it should resolve your problem.

Thank you all. I have completely forgot about it, as I have turned it on after I got it.
I'll try turning it off just to see if it will solve the issue.
I have a follow up question. Why does my phone take so long to get into deep sleep? In the morning when I wake up it is consuming about 6mah of power just after I switch the screen on, but usually it uses about 60mah with all but BT turned on.
Is this normal? What values do you get?

There is no provision for accurate mAh readings on Exynos devices - the function simply doesn't exist unlike in HTC phones. Apps like CurrentWidget and Battery Monitor Widget can only estimate mAh usage readings, so that would probably explain your puzzling values.
The way to tell whether your Note is going into deep sleep is to use CPUSpy - the deep sleep timer should go up if you turn the screen off in CPUSpy, wait some time, turn the screen on and refresh from the CPUSpy menu. On Gingerbread, there also is the customary lag coming out of deep sleep between hitting power button and the screen coming on.
Looking at your screenshot, your deep sleep time doesn't look too unusual. Remember also that the phone does not go into Deep Sleep when charging the battery.

i don't think this is correct.. im on rooted GB stock and i see my note clocks 1400 ghz..
this probably depends on what games or apps you use... it just doesn't make any sense to put an O/S that is not designed to use the max cpu speed of the device

Lag on the s4

I find myself getting massive lag and stutter on the s4 I dunno if there's something wrong with the device or if everyone else is experiencing the same thing. Also battery life hardly lasts me a day and I have everything off other than air gesture and air view. Are other people receiving a similar issue
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
same, barely getting any battery juice out of it, i find myself constantly charging it throughout my day, also my 4G isn't turned on. also getting performance lagg when going out of apps and playing games. also scrolling lagg on Facebook and typing lagg. hope im not alone! D:
That does seem pretty strange. I haven't really noticed any lag whatsoever (a slight wait when exiting some apps, but i can count the times on one hand), and my battery has been good. I use 4G or wifi all day, syncing is always on, google now, listening to aprox 40 min of music each day, lots of mail, some texts and probably 20-40 mins of talking every day, some videos now and then and so on. Still, i usually have 10-30% left when i go to bed at night.
Idk if you guys have turned down the animations? that can help against the feeling of lag at least, and it speeds up everything no matter what you do, so try it. It's under development or something.
The battery drain i can't explain though. Any apps you guys use a lot? idk, but it seems very different from the juice i've been getting out of this. A lot better than my S3. Probably on par with my Note 2, if not better. That might just be my imagination though. lol
My battery is great especially compariong to the S3, 24 hr usage 2.5 hr screen time 40% left... Every now and then a get a stutter when scrolling through homescreens or in and out of browser or heavy memory apps. But like the above poster so far I can count these times with one hand. I am enjoying this device, its a great update from the S3 especially the battery consumption and speed.
mmm, animations turned to 0.5 and constantly checking facebook and social media, the apps i have i use constantly and install if usefull, except the few lone games i pay for on special that i never touch

i think you guys are snapdragon users of s4.. cant say what's causing you this but my octocore is well almost lagless(only whatsapp lags, cant be s4's problem). battery life well i was previously a gnex user and i can hardly believe that a smartphone experience can get better than this while still having enough juice left).. even on power saving mode its performing flawless. i was just a bit disappointed with not being able to use lockscreen widgets while having a security pattern.. but that can be fixed later on.
My I9505 is excellent as per my comment above... And the other user is also I9505 and he also is having no problems
Start turning off the sensors (Air View, Air Gesture, etc.) then check again if it makes any difference.
When i first got my S4 it lagged a lot with the pre installed firmware (MDC) after updating to MDM the lag was mostly gone, Putting transition time to zero in Dev Options made the Device butterly smooth. No more lag at all

Putting transition time to zero means no more transition animation. Sure cannot detect any animation lag or not.
mine has 0 lag - ive rooted mine, changed a few things here and there, frozen apps i dont/wont use to get the best performance results
As for battery - ive turned off all of the sensors when not using them, keep wifi/4G on constantly and use my phone very regularly throughout the day and i can only burn off about 45% from 5am (wake up, go to the gym, listen to music through my phone for a whole hour in the morning) to when i go to bed at 9pm at night.
I noticed a lag in the spell auto correction. When typing fast , the " blue" suggested word appears with some small delay. And by that time, instead of the suggested word, I put the previous one word that has stayed in blue.... So in order to put the correct one I have to wait for second the suggested word to change/appear in blue... (I use the stock Samsung keyboard)

Turn off animation in developer options. That will speed it up.
If you switch off all animations ' all motions and switch off the home screen
unlock effect your phone will fly
It seems daft we have to go to such extreems to get a smooth phone but it does work and will also give you decent benchmarks

It's really annoying but I'm getting used to it.
My exynos variant does not suffer from any lag whatsoever
Samsung wouldn't replace my phone as wake up lag isn't covered by Warranty.
I have exactly the same problem however my lag is 1s at most.
I have tried everything from going back to stock rom, stock kernel, unrooted (all this using odin).
My friend has the exact same phone and it doesn't do it, so I would say it is a defect from Samsung's part.
There's an app called "Wake Lock" in the appstore which you can enable "partial wakelock" and you'll get instantaneous wake screen (basically makes sure one of the cpu core is running at least at 200mhz).
I am not sure what the impact on the battery yet, so I am testing it out. I'll get back to you when I have some data.
Yes, I also see the lag.
And there are also lags when I press the "recent apps" button.
Dispointed... not sure it's Android's problem or just Samsung
I have this issue too.Same boring Samsung problems every year in any flagship
I had a microsd card in my phone. I removed it and no more lag!

I had this problem for months and tried everything, it's the microSD card. Turn it off, pull the card, start up, and your phone is back to its own self! I cleared my cache too, but I always do that. I hope this works for everyone as well as it did for me!

Random lag is starting to piss me off..

so, it seems that whenever I'm out, my phone is slow as all hell. I'm at the store yesterday, and i pull my phone out of my pocket to take a picture of something for future reference. I hit down volume twice to launch camera... so it takes about 8 seconds just for the screen to pop on, and another 8 or so seconds before I can actually click the shutter to take a shot. so, that's annoying. but then, I wanted to Google search something while I was there, so the phones already awake mind you, so i hit home, open Google, this takes another like 7 seconds, and then going to type in the box takes another 5 for swiftkey to even pop up.
I don't understand. it's like, when I'm not home, my phone gets laggy as hell. when the phones plugged in, it gets laggy as hell. now I'm coming from an s7, aka a lag machine, but this thing is starting to annoy me to the point where I'm ready to throw it.
I've recently even factory reset and started fresh and it still happens. it's as if when you wake the phone, doze is just taking forever to ramp the processor speed back up. it's like it's limited to a low speed so there's tons of lag. when I'm using the phone for a while it's fine, but that experience seriously made me want to whip this phone at the ground.
so now it's like, i don't want samsung bc of lag, i'm starting to not want LG because of lag. who the hell else makes a decent android phone now that's actually fast!?

doze sucks. honestly, I get no better battery life now than I did on my note 4 running what, lollipop, and the same size battery. they didn't have doze back then, and it ran better. doze was such a bad programming decision bc it does absolutely nothing for battery, and just makes the phone slow as hell whenever you wake it.
Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
Same thing here. My battery life is so BAD, yesterday not doing anything but standby and checking a few things, 10m 37 sec screen on time, 7+ hours off charge from 100%, it was at 21%. Lags like crazy from time to time. When, it gets like this I pull the battery for about 5-10 minutes and it seems to work fine for awhile. One other thing that has happened, is my data signal sucks, which is probably the cause for the extensive battery drain. I put in new SIM card, no change. I have seen where others are experiencing the same thing. It was a good phone, until about 2 months ago and all this has started, very frustrating. Note 8 can't get here fast enough.
If you guys aren't getting better battery during standby then you guys have a problem like a rogue app or conflict cause standby drain on this phone is nigh non-existent compared to older phones like note 4. Usage when screen is on is pretty much identical to older phones though.
In relation to topic I do get random lag sometimes which does annoy me but my brother gets random lag on his stock unrooted Nexus 6p as well and id be willing to bet that the high and mighty note 8 is going to suffer from random lag as well.
Just depends on how often you are experiencing this lag. It happens pretty rarely for me and usually only when is really hot out.
the other day at my new job the phone drained like crazy just idling in the drawer. like 30 percent from 7am to 1230pm. it was awful. I noticed my signal was super low in gsam during that time though, which sucks. not sure what I'm gonna do about that.

I bought this phone after changing over from Verizon to T-Mobile. My note 4 was really reliable and somewhat compatible with T-Mobile, but it didn't support some of the bands. Anyway, I immediately noticed the lag on this phone when compared to my Note 4.
After messing with several settings and doing a lot of reading online, I decided to try a different launcher and it made a huge difference. I'm currently using Nova Launcher. It takes a while to set it up exactly how you want it. I still found it a little laggy, but instead of the 7 seconds it took to open apps, it would take about 3. I then went into developer options and changed window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale from 1x to .5x and apps now open and close almost instantly.

So how do you like the V20 now compared to the Note 4?
Agree even if can be hard to completely abandon your favorite launchers & some live wallpapers it's worth experimenting with other launchers-wallpapers & you could first try turning off those 3 animations in developer options to make it feel snappy or if you like them change them to .5x as suggested by Archangel1183. For laughs you could try all 3 animations to 10x :laugh:before turning them off or down as low as you like.:good:
Any of you all with Sprint. If so I have sinking suspicion their crappy over saturated network is the cause of most of the lag.

Just reread your original post & that does sound like crazy lag, are you saying when you're home (probably on Wi-Fi &/or with better signal?) not plugged in, the lag is dramatically less only or mainly getting that crazy lag when not in that environment?
How often do you reboot & what apps do you typically have running? Did turning off those aforementioned animations make it more snappy?
If you think it's doze you could try http://www.tomsguide.com/faq/id-3026187/disable-doze-android-marshmallow.html
Have you tried a different battery to see if it makes a difference on your battery drain, anyone recommend one like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MR3NHAK ?
Did you buy your V20 online or could you pop in a Verizon store to see if an exchanged replacement makes a difference?
yeah its mainly when I'm out and actually need to use it quickly, that's when it lags the most lol go figure. I'll check out that doze link. the battery itself is fine... usually it doesn't drain like crazy, but my new job is a metal building so it's awful on the signal. gotta airplane mode it! I have a us996 so I never played with any other version before.

I have found on my T-Mobile variant that if I run a AOSP ROM the lag is less noticeable and most of the time is less frequent.
Do you have Facebook and messenger? Uninstall them both and see what happens in a day. Also, are you rooted?
rooted yes, Facebook dear god no.

Install magisk latest beta and try crossbreader in the downloads of magisk manager. It removed all signs of lag for me.
When I had this problem is was the wi-fi trying constantly to connect to every router in the area. I set smart manager to automatically turn wi-fi off when I leave home and back on when I return and haven't had a problem since.

You might want to double check as I have the T-Mobile variant and stock rom came with Facebook already installed. After disabling that and Lookout, it ran a lot better. Think there is actually a thread on here somewhere about those 2 apps lagging up the device
nah I've deleted Facebook immediately when rooted.

you probably have frozen or disabled some apps that causes the lag. I actaully did a backup first before trying to uninstall or disable that looks bloatware to me. I disabled some LG bloatware apps that causes lag on my phone and camera. I don't know which is which but then I manage to install back my backup and start all over again.
