I'm Orange Uk user generic still without 2.1 is that just me or is everyone that is on orange generic not been able too get 2.1 without doing that nordic thing ?
You should try out the generic-uk code and see if that works, which i think it would be out already, theres are many country firmwares out already.

I would have thought (from past experience with other handsets) that the 2.1 update on all carriers will take a while to catch up. I couldn't be bothered waiting for o2UK so installed UK Generic instead.

i have the x10i factory unlocked version so i guess it unbranded.

and this is not a OTA update you need a computer.
obviously hasn't reached the uk yet then.. tried using SEUS (via PC companion)... nothing new yet..
Can you let us know the build number you have though..
Thanks

Thats already out im from uk and already got it on my phone
Bricks were shat, but then had to be retracted.
I AM DISAPPOINT!
Thought as much. Se blog said it would be in the next 2 weeks, so would have been surprised to see it within 24 hours.

I'm in the US and there are no updates for me yet. I have the X10i unbranded and unlocked. I also have the latest version of SEUS (2.10.5.11). Still rocking R1FA014. I will be extremely sad if I don't see the update for a while.
Can you also tell me if this update fixes the playnow force close problem? It's very annoying since I get that message everytime a text comes in.
Generic UK stiil @ R1FA016.

Come on, be honest. Who got all excited there when they read the topic title lol. Apparently there is another FW update coming in the next 14 days.
Hello all, newbie here.
Plugged my unbranded phone into computer yesterday to charge it and....................................
PC Companion says update available. Did all the bits and pieces and restarted and all the appropriate numbers appear[/I] to be the same?
PC Companion now states I am up to date - ver. 16 - this has not changed.
Has anyone in the UK managed to get this firmware? If so how?
Don't think its out in the uk yet but I got the generic rooted version from xda!
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Still waiting myself on Vodaphone UK, not rooted of course.
I couldn't wait so I went and rooted my Vodafone.. all good except I swear the fone has restarted a few times... and IMHO its not any quicker and haven't seen much improvement in battery :-(
I say wait for the update.. unless the bootloader gets cracked first ;-)

You don't need to do anything as dramatic as rooting to get the latest update.. you just need to debrand/ unbrand your phone.. which is easier, and allows you to stay on the "default" SE upgrade path without major faffing about each time!

Hi, just search "debranding" within the x10 forum, there's a few good threads to choose from.
My phone was purchased unbranded, so not had to go through that pain!

Im on T-Mobile UK, Debranded and got the update next day. battery is so much improved. Id reccomend going down the debranding route. Im not doing the rooting untill its fully cracked
Does anyone have 2.1 on the UK Orange generic yet ? If so how did you update ?
Yes the update for UK generic only have been released..... download using SEUS
Do you mean the Orange branded firmware provided by Orange? It's not out yet but on its way see here.
yes thats what I ment thanks very much mate Hmm now just a matter of how long :/
Before end of November is what I've heard. I'm going to hang on until then as I can't be bothered to faff around de-branding and re-flashing firmware.
All the whining on this board about the update has put me off to be honest even though the reported improved touchscreen responsiveness does sound appealing.
Hopefully all the negative vibes will have dissapated by the end of the month so I can be delighted when I finally update.
got a message from orange yesterday saying the update will be out this month.
Hope this helps.
Hello, I am currently on build number 2.1.1.A.0.6. I connected my phone to pc companion today and it notified me of a update! Anyone wanna take the plunge and let me know
can't you just backup you current settings on xrecovery and try the update yourself and report here?
it might be the 2.1.1.B update that'll make you go to baseband 6X.
Definitely not the GB update.
fake, i think.
just one day passed after ptcrb check. cant be the new fw available.
besides, se said 2.3 wont bi available for branded prones, generic only.
it may happen after you use the custom kernel
once i freshly flashed the .b.1 firmware
and i used Z`s kernel
the next day my phone come with a message that there`s a software update for me and can only be processed by pcc or us
i was really happy cause i think its the GB
but when i connect my phone with my pc
it says the new firm ware 2.1.b.0.1 can be used ...
its really funny
Phone is bootlooping, I will look for gingerbread on SEUS

No thats some #%@#$.... They never said it won't be available for branded phones, it will maybe not be available... In the Netherlands all branded phones will get the update Hi, Vodafone, KPN, MTV Mobile etc... all big providers... There is a good chance that some branded phones in other countries will also get the update And yes, SE NL confirmed it...

Sure it can be a new firmware.
It might be the 2.1.1.A.0.53 firmware.
And all major Swedish carriers (3, Telenor, Telia) also confirmed Gingerbread update for their branded X10's.
So the old statement that Sony Ericsson said about, only generic kits would get the update has been debunked by many carriers around the globe.
have any rogers customers updated to this yet.
Just curious as to what the baseband is
rogers from what ive spoken to them about they wont have any update from 2.1 > 2.3. and it seems they have no plans in doing so. unless they change their minds which they'll have to work too hard to put all their crap in on an "outdated" device to them, which they wont.
I am on Rogers and have an umodded phone running 2.1.1.A.0.6. It says I am running the latest software in both SEUS and the PC Compansion software so I don't seem to be getting this new update you speak of.
ya, with rogers as well... if u speak to one of their service reps or tech support any information they give you regarding an update to Gingerbread I would take as hear-say since they just dont know... you'd need to speak to someone working quite a bit higher up to get a real answer.
I just debranded my x10 yesterday to a generic, running the latest updates, waiting for Gingerbread to come out now so I can update to that.

I'm a Rogers client, just plugged my phone in to check this and there's no update available for my x10.
At the Rogers SE Play launch party in Toronto I was told that GB would be available to us by now, although I wasn't supposed to say anything about it outside of that party.

There will be no problems having a generic device on Rogers.
I would recommend flashing the Global Generic for X10a

Thanks- Finally updating the wife's Z now/
She didn't want me to mess around with hers even though I kept mine up to date by Flashtool!!
Finally. They took ages with this! Been using Spanish version for a while, need to send the phone back to Sony (Glass back coming unglued) so might as well flash UK generic.
Thanks for letting us know. :good:
Let us know how your return goes.
Mines going back this week. There's summat up with the data receiver. Keeps dropping signal and trying to roam...

I got this last night.
Typical that it appeared less than a week after I bit the bullet and flashed Netherlands 4.2.2!
I wonder how long it'll take for us to get 4.3 though...
isn't there a newer update .244 that other countries have now got that sorted a lot of bugs of .423?
which means whilst we're on 4.2.2, we're still behind much of the rest of the world. *sigh*

Just have a look through there. You need to read about using Flashtool, then download the TFT file you want from the list.
I actually spoofed the Sony PC companion into thinking my XZ was a belgian one, and it downloaded and upgraded for me, but you need root for that.
If anyone needs the FTF of this software version to flash back to UK software for warranty purposes etc., I have uploaded it and posted it here -

Going to use this to get back to UK generic software, was using Vodafone before just to try 423 out while waiting.
But you shouldn't need it for warranty as far as I know, Sony couldn't care less about what software you flash (the repair centre will just flash the one your supposed to have as an "upgrade"). I have sent an Arc in twice with the wrong firmware, and my fiancee's S went in with a custom one and was fine.

That's useful information. Thanks.
Perhaps I'm just overly cautious with sending any of my electronics for repair as, in my experience, many companies will try to wriggle out of repairing them for free for the smallest reason. I personally restore stock firmware to any phone before sending it for repair if possible just so they cannot use that reason to deny warranty. I probably will still continue to do so, even though I now know it's a waste of time.
