Can someone explain this to me? - XPERIA X10 General

Hey guys/gals I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now as I have no idea what it mean. When I go into "Running Services" on my X10 at the bottom it says the following:
Available:77MB+89MB in 22 Other:35MB in 4
those numbers usually fluxuate up and down and Im sure it has something to do with whats running on my phone, but are they good numbers or bad?
Thanks!

I am not saying it isn't loaded but it can't use the GPS, 3G or anything else on the phone.
To check which programs are running in the background use pTerminal.
Run "ps" for a list of processes
Run "kill <pid>" to terminate a process

What kind of processes you trying to kill? I didn't have any problems with the apps I launched... hrm
That's ODD, I just tried it and it threw an error, and it killed the app too. Wow interesting, i could have sworn it didn't throw that error before, but it killed the app. What about for you, does it kill the app anyway?

Can anyone give an example of what the <pid>'s look like ?? Thanx
The PID is the number after the user that is running the file or service.
The first one in the line should look like this.
root 1 0 264 136 c00a5cd0 0000c36c S /Init
So root is the user and the PID is 1, they go in numeric order and on my phone go up to 3716
so if i wanted to kill /Init(which you can't) i would type in kill 1
which right now will throw me an Operation not permitted.

OK, What Did I Do Now!

Bragged to the apple world how great my battery is, now I musta turned something on that's killing it quickly.
Look at the percentage of Android OS in the first, then the 2nd screen shot.
How do I figure out what is killing it?

OK I did that, but I'm sure I did not put all three of the checkmarks on, (I think 1 or 2 of them were checked when new).
My guess is that it's "google location service" ?????

No I have not, and would you mind telling me how to turn off OTA updates, (so stuff doesn't get installed without my knowledge). thx
Who knows of a good app that can let the user know which apps are drawing how much juice?

1. What firmware are you on? Settings > About phone. Say the build number
2. To turn off updates Settings > About phone > Update. But it never gets installed without your knowledge.
3. Install Wakelock detector (from play store) or BetterBatteryStats (search for it here on xda)

"Use wireless networks" ....................... WOW, what a battery killer !!!
This little check mark makes an unbelievable difference in battery productivity. I'm mean "really", (like a whole new device with it unchecked).
I am on Ml9.
Do you folks have a preference as to which battery app I should download?

[Q] Question about xnote custom rom

Hello guys,
im quiet new to xda and to rooting as well.
i read, tried to inform myself and then tried rooting and flashing a custom rom becaused i really liked the idea to discover new features, looks and to empower my device.
anywayi rooted my device, backed it up properly and searched for a custom rom where i found xnote Rom and really liked it.
i flashed it with twrp and it works fine i just wonder about a little issue i have now but cant remember if its there from the start (since i flashed it this morning) but i guess it occured after a few and not immediately.
getting finally to the point, on the top left corner of the screen there is a white line just when the display is about to end, i dont know how to explain it better (the old iphone jailbreak (3gs,4) had a similar line in the middle of the screen when booting while the apple logo appeared, if this might help someone to figure out what i actually mean).
i made a screenshot from my homescreen but i doubt its visible from there because of its thinness, i tried to give you and idea of its location with the red arrow though.
i wonder how to fix it ? should i flash again or is it even a well known issue?
help appreciated
thanks for reading

It's a battery bar, some user doesn't like the usual "Battery" icon on the notification and want minimalism instead. So they remove the those icon but need at least an indication to know the battery levels.
Imagine the whole top line that showing up is your battery life.

Mysterious text message

Today I sent a text message to an unknown number (unknowingly, when I was asleep) as follows.
APMN;BVD:4.0.8#ANDROID7.0#H2560W1
What is this supposed to be and how did this message send automatically?
What kind of implications can this have?
Also, I'd like to know what the other data is supposed to mean.

Is that an IMEI number? I recommend you hide that from your post... Check that your number is/ is not one of the ones on the text. No idea what it would be about, but I dont like it - it looks like your IMEI number plus a few other details just got sent to someone? I hope I'm wrong... Who did it send to? Be careful.

Hide the number from your post and never post it. As far as I'm aware, people can steal ur imei and make ur phone useless. It is a risk here but it seems like ur number has already been sent. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong and raising false alarms.
A crap app that has text and other permissions from the sounds of it. Are you on stock rom or rooted custom

Its. All ure build info. Sir it sounds like you have a app on ure device with to many permissions. Are u stock unrooted rooted or custom rom? I would delete many apps. But first go into settings into permissions and see what apps have text permissions. And maby look if any can read info permissions. If its an app its aparantly setup to send at a specific time. But the infos already been sent so u may never see or hear of it again. But i would unistall anything untrusted.
And deny more permissions. Even stock apps can run correctly with some permissions shut down.

The battery runs out and gets warm

Hey buddy
I have htc u play from 1 month ago
When I bought it and start using this phone, HTC update suggest me to download 4 files one by one and install them.
The phone was good and worked properly until the last file update!
About 10 days later, update system suggest me to download and install the 50Mb file! The important things is the longer time for installing that update, around 30 min!!!
After that my phone became boring because the battery runs out and gets warm even I was just using the web surfing!
No a days I have to charge my battery 2 times a day!
Would u please help me how can I fix this problem?
Thank u in advance

You first have to be sure the problem is the same.
Install the CPU-Z app from the Google Play Store (this is a free apps). Run the app and go un the SoC tab.
Wait some seconds for the phone to be in Idle (10-15 seconds).
If your phone has not this problem, you should have only the Core 0 running at 598Mhz.
If your phone has this problem, you shoult have Core 4 et Core 5 running at full speed (1950Mhz) => Consequences: Phone is getting warmer and you have a huge battery drain.

Do you have any idea for me?
Yes the problem is different. It's strange that your phone become ward with a low CPU Activity. When you check in settings the battery report, you see nothing interesting about an app draining you battery?
Did this ever get resolved? I have to fix it on my mum's phone.
Hello Photographerpete,
You have the same problem that i have describe? 2 Cores of CPU allways on?
I do... well my mum does.
You can try:
Go to settings>Applications>Google Play Service.
Uninstall updates
Wait 2 minutes and check CPU activity.
Only Core 0 must be running at 597Mhz.
After that, you can re-update Google Play services, but don't reboot the phone or the problem is going to be back.
Open a ticket at HTC support. If we all open a ticket at HTC support, the patch is going to come faster.
Keep me informed.
