I have tried 7 different android builds and none of them boot. I have HSPL. And I've formatted my sd card to fat32. Then only one that brings up the code screen is the bangsters build. I've tried different ones from froyo and mdeejay as well and those just bring up the black htc screen. The bangsters says failed to find rootfs you need to unzip a rootfs file to the root of your sd card. Can anyone help me please this is driving me nuts. I haven't slept in three weeks ha.
The build which ask you to unzip the rootfs to your root, do what it want.
Check the files that came along with the build you'll find a Rootfs.img file, copy that out of the Android folder, to the upper of your sd card, then you should boot fine.
Other builds I'm not sure .
It's still asking to unzip rootfs
I have ran 3 android roms on my phone perfectly with my original ROM, Radio, and no HSPL. I just followed the instructions on the android page. you have to wait for more than 10 minutes for the first boot. also, make sure you know what the build you have needs. Some Android roms need to be extracted directly to the root of the SD card, others need to be extracted to a folder named "android" on the root of the card.. Check the android section and read a bit more

put the Desire_DL folder at the root of your sd card. The data.img goes in the Desire_DL folder. Check to make sure that you have your config.txt (it's inside the Desire_DL folder) set right. Boot mode should = 1 and data_img should also = 1
clrcad, haret, viola
Also you might as well grab the update to ver3.5 while you're at it, just put the Update_DL and Desire_DL folders that come in the ''upgrade.DL.DesireHD.v1.1.7z'' also at the root of your storage card, next to the original Desire_DL folder, not inside it. Then you'll be on version 3.5
btw, i am using the newest rom and my spl is 3.03.
do i have to downgrade it? and where do u suppose to put config.txt?in the root of sd card or inside the desire folder?
my software info is
rom 3.14.707.3
manila version; 2.5.20181527.0
os version is 5.2.21913
No, your Windows Mobile ROM is okay, as long as your radio is X.XX.50.XX and not a X.XX.51.XX.
config.txt is inside the DesireHD folder (or whatever the folder's named depending on what build) . Edit it as needed and leave it there
it still cannot work. sry for my dumbness
btw,i didnt install maglndr i just install android loader.
ps; i am so dumb with technology
any1 to help me? desperate for android
is it possible that my sd card is spoilt?it still can be used though

can intro me any build using the sense or similar to it?
still cannot...... any idea?
Hi there - I tried to install this too, but ran into a great deal of trouble, up to and including a problem in running ANY OTHER builds. I deleted the existing Desire DL folder off of my SD and the update folder and anything else in the root directory that I thought might have been connected to that build. THEN, I tried Dandiest's v2.0 Desire build. Once I put a 1 GB data image in the Desire DL folder and renamed the config.txt.sd to just config.txt, it went pretty successfully. I've been able to really do a lot and it's restarted successfully. You need to be patient when it first installs - it's a teensy bit slow when restarting, but I'll take stable and fast once booted over the other options. I also recommend a boot loader - I am using Exceller. When you do that, you can easily choose which Android version to load, in case you want more than one. GL!
is it supposed to take more than 2 hours?
No.
Something must of went wrong.
Can you explain the steps you did?
i extracted to sd card
took out the usb cable
went in my storage card, opened the folder
clicked on clrcad
clicked on haret and started the load
now its reading
acr=### fl=####raac=##
The first i've tried took me about 1h, but I had to install everything Mgldr, CWM, etc. ..
Are you installing SD version or nand?

and ive tried HyperDroidV1.5.zip
Can you link me the way you did it maybe a quick step guide and a file download pleasE?
It's not supposed to take more than 2 hours, 20 mins max.
Try either of the following, a combination, or all of the following:
format your sd
rextract the android folder form the build you downloaded, into the root of your sd card
Try a different blank data image (if the build requires you to have a data image in there, some builds make their own)
If it's the case of where it makes its own, go into the android folder and delete that incomplete data image
Is it just the build you are using now that doesn't work, or does every other build give you the same problem?
Maybe you need HSPL installed, iunno
You got the latest radio?
Tried a different winmo rom?
Try reading thru this.

what does "failed to find rootfs on sd car. you need to unzip a rootfs zip file to the root of your sd card
[REF] A Brief guide to Installing and Maintaining Android [SD/RAM] on HD2 Despy1989 thread.
3) Android Build :
Download your chosen Android build on your computer.
Extract / Unzip the folder on the computer
Now copy into the Root of your SD card.
Folder should be labelled "Android"
Once copied into SD card you will see 2 files: CLRCAD.exe and HaRET.exe which have to be run to boot into Android.
There will also be other folders / files (Android Apps, initrd.gz, system.ext2, rootfs.img, zimage, startup.txt, ts-calibration) please leave them as they are.

I have set up a dual boot on my HTC HD2 following one of the threads on this forum.
The phone boots into wm7 ok, but the problem is the Android boot (AmericanAndroid build)
I copied the Android folder as per the instructions
I go into magldr and select option 2. Boot AD SD
I then get the following messages.
Android load 1800000
From Microsd
Load Zimage
k: /ANDROID/Zimage
SD kernel open failed
Any suggestions as to what I may have done wrong?
is this your first AmeriCan Android install?
Edit; Have you tried;
"In MAGLDR go to services(10)>Boot Settings(1)>AD SD Dir(3)>"choose your Android folder. Make sure you have all the files you extracted in sd/android."
(from HearMeWhisper)
Warren and Cope have recently changed the way ACA boots up
Thanks for the reply.
Yes it is my first American Android install. and I set it to boot from the Android folder.
I extracted all the files, changed the rootfs and statrup files as per the instructions.
I previously tried the Warren and Cope build, but had the same problem
It's worked for me without any problems, try to put all the files in the root of your SD card, not in folder
"In MAGLDR go to services(10)>Boot Settings(1)>AD SD Dir(3)>"choose your Android folder. Make sure you have all the files you extracted in sd/android."
The "Android" folder is usually at the end and must not be confused with Androi~
Keep scrolling until you find it
Thanks Win_XP and Robbie P.
Tried both suggestions, but still the same.
Excuse my ignorance as I am new to this although computer literate.
Looking at the setup text file it seems to point to the Android folder and part of the bootup message tells me it is looking at k: /Android/zImage
I cannot see the file zImage. Should I be able to see it or is it contained in another file?
Not sure where the K: bit comes in either.
zimage should be in Android folder.
try deleting the files on the android partition (it is set to Primary Yes?)
do the rootfs manouvre
copy the folder "Android" to SD card. (dont bother editing startup for now)
In Magldr point to the Android folder as above (option 10 etc)
see if it boots from option 2
What is your sd card size, and what are the partition sizes?
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I have managed to get a bit further in that ALZip was not extracting zImage so this was the problem.
Managed to extract it and now have phone sitting on 'powered by AmeriCan Android' screen.
Not sure how long it should stay like that, but at least moving forward.
Just out of curiosity what do you people use to unzip files?
7zip, its free and unlimited.
others like winrar expire after a time.
Hope its gone OK
I had the same issue when I first try to boot AmeriCanDroid but now it's work like a charm
What I've done?
Simply forgot to choose the android SD boot directory under Services>BootSettings>AD SD Dir and also don't forget to replace the rootfs.img with MAGLDR version (see readme in AmeriCanDroid folder>SDMAGLDR)
Thanks Robbie P - all working ok now
I'll have a look at 7zip

There is no need to installing anything. Just download a SD android rom, unpack this one to a root folder on your sd. Run clrcad.exe and than haret.exe.

can you please send me the site with the sd android rom to download it and explain me what is a root folder?
Go to the android sd development section and find an sd build that you might like (it will be trial and error until you find the best for you)
placing android build on sd root ... Simply means place the folder you will extract (normally simply named android) onto your sd card all by itself (no sub folder). so that when you have extracted the file you downloaded and placed that folder on your sd card and NOT into a subfolder it will be located /sdcard (the root or main directory) ... Not /sdcard/android/ics4.03 blablabla (notice this directory has sub directories and isn't on the root (or main directory) of the sd card.
Hope this helps ... If you need further advice/help please please please simply read the stickies in the sd android section (the "stickies" are the first 3-5 posts that will outline guides, tutorials, etc)
Good luck
I'm using AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7.2
A week ago I installed also
NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9-SD V1.5
Both seems working well. AmeriCanAndroid is probably bugsfree, but NexusHD2 looks better and consumes less battery.
Hello,
I installed a NAND Android (NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.6 (Kernel: tytung_HWA_r3.4) which I’m quite happy with but would like to try out some SD card ROMs.
Now I tried to start SD Android Builds (e.g.JaguarMIUI-V21 to run via MAGDLR v1.13 and MccM MixTheme V1.3 HTC) but no matter what I do it’s stuck at the Boot splash. I even notice that the data.img gets built. But no Android gets loaded. Just logo splash. I reformatted my SD card. Same result.
What are the considerations: Does only the Kernel of the SD Card ROM matter? If so which one is recommended? Does the resident NAND ROM matter? The version of MAGDLR? SD card format/partitioning?
I’ve seen others encounter this but it’s been hard finding a definitive conclusion. Most point to using the right Kernel for the SD ROM.
I have followed the instructions to copy rootfs + startup.txt to ROM folder as well as to ensure that the startup.txt shows the appropriate path (i.e. rel_path=Android).
Any advise would be appreciated.
Hi, just take the sd build as it is. Everything will be ready to go, kernal etc. Nand will not make any difference as you are rebooting from the card files.
Check the location of your files, you can rename main folder but change rel_path in the startup.txt
Otherwise, also in startup.txt, check the data_size, 512mb file could take 10mins or more to create

Thanks gazzacbr. Note I didn't have this issue when I was on WM 6.5 and loaded SD ROMs via HaRET.exe. Now I'm on NAND Android and attempting to build and load same ROM from MAGDLR using Dev's instruction. I notice some report similar issue in individual ROM threads but I've not come across consistent root cause and resolution documented. Perhaps I'll try a newer SD ROM and see if experience is different from the previous SD ROMs I've attempted.
I am able to now get yugoports miuiv4.1 to boot via MAGDLR. Still not sure why I couldn't get the other MIUI SD ROMs to load. I have some old data.img files from those roms from my wm6.5 days. I'll extract data that I need by leveraging ext2explore app. gazzacbr, I saw you mention this app on an unrelated thread and so I thank you.
