[Q] Froyo .zip install aborted - Epic 4G General

Installation is aborting due to bad signature? Any ideas?

You're not rooted

I am rooted and running Syndicate Rom.

Are you flashing with clockwork recovery or the stock android recovery?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Flashing with CWM

I would delete your zip and dl another one.

Make sure you're in cw recovery it has the green text. I had the same problem. You might need to unroot and reroot with noobs new one click.

If you flash one of the zips from this thread you will have the stock ROM with exception of Clockwork still installed.

It only formats the system partition, so if you want your data wiped you would have to do that manually.
Thanks

Help please

Hello, I am not inexperienced with all the epic mods so I can understand most of what's being explained. Long story short had to odin my epic back to stock. I only had time to root it, not to put clockwork back on from my computer. I'm stuck on 24hr duty now and I have all the files from clockwork on my phone. I want it back on so I can use my favorite rom while I sit here. So... is there any way that I can install clockwork from either terminal, or through stock recovery? Thanks ahead of time.

Ps before I get the why didn't you search. Well I have... I can do it manually through adb but I don't know how through terminal if it's possible. Or hopefully someone can point me to an update.zip compatible with stock recovery

Not recommended - ROM Manager's install method is hackish.

Use the One Click Clockwork flasher. Unlike ROM Manager, it drops Clockwork right in bml7, where it belongs, replacing the stock recovery. No custom kernel needed.
I have tried rom manager. Several times. Each time it tells me it has an error with downloading clockworkmod recovery.

Lol, I would but my entire problem is that I do not have a computer at my disposal. I appreciate the responses though.

Also, I was wondering if there was a way I could use the one click script in terminal?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Oh and I got rom manager to download the file but when I try to update.zip from stock recovery it says somthing like cannot be verified as whole file.

I has the same problem as op. Its best to do the one click root with clock work mod in it. I found it to be easiest after many problems with z4root and rom manager. You will need a computer though.

Thanks for the try guys. I ended up getting to a computer and I'm back on track.

Look for the thread that says return to stock /fix bricked epic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032
follow those instructions then root with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612
wipe Data, dalvik, cache x3 then install any rom you want.
Z4root does temporary root that last till u turn off

No I have perm root on mine

You don't have a custom kernel with clockwork redirector , you have to do the three button reboot and flash a different kernel, or Rom if you're on DK28
thanks for the help
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Use one click root instead of z4root. Installs cwm and all the goods for you. I think its version 2.5.5.0 your looking for if your on stock di18. If your on dk28 you can use 3.0.0.5.

If you're on stock 2.2, this doesn't work, yet everyone seems to spread this method like it's the end all be all.
You need to have either modified 3e, or 2e recovery for it to work. Easiest is to Odin to jfd, then use the update.zip method.

This has been the easiest method for me...
This method worked for me:
Odin back to 2.1 eclair
Then get root with z4root mod.
Then install CWM from rom manager
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
I also used the noob guide to root which involved using the update.zip file. It involves using Odin to get back to stock 2.1, and then using the update.zip to install Clockwork recovery mod. From there you need to flash a rooted ROM to get root privileges. The method is very reliable in my opinion. The "Noob Guide" is excellent for starting to learn things like root and many others. Its in the Q and A section of the vibrant forum. Good luck!
