Anyone with triple image problem could try this :
1. Using root explorer and goto /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media
2. Move all external-something.db to another folder on sdcard (just in case something goes wrong).
3. Reboot the phone.
4. After reboot it will scan for all media files and make a new external.db file.
Btw, I am using gallery.apk from jpd rom.
I don't know if it works on gallery3d from the market.
Please let me know if it works too.

Yeah it does work but it comes back too often.
Just curious, do you delete .thumbnail folder inside DCIM both on sdcard and external_sd before reboot?
On my sgs, it doesn't come back again even after several reboot.

Works on jpa, I had double images in gallery.
What do you mean by triple image?? Repeat images perhaps??
Another thing that works is
0. kill gallery with task manager
1. connect phone back to PC mount SD cards , then delete jpgs from DCIM\thumbs.. don't delete folders itself.
2. unmount properly , first from phone itself then from pc side.
3. unplug cable
4. profit.
Maybe some steps can be changed i am to lazy to experiment.
thx for the hints.
it works on my phone (Doc Froyo XWJPA v7.6.2 / XXJPO v7.6.2)
first i removed only the content from DCIM\.thumbs.. but i didn't solve the problem.
then i do the steps from s3xkiller and it works
You're welcome.
Glad I can help.

Hi guys. I have installed JPX and while using SGSTOOLS to clear the battery script, I've accidentally deleted it (I've pressed the option a bit too long instead of clicking it, and carelessly hit delete). Now the clear battery script is gone and it's not there even after reinstalling SGSTOOLS. Now the questions are:
1.) Is there any adverse effect of having this removed? I've noticed that some of my widgets on my homescreen were gone and had to reload them.
2.) Is there a way to restore the battery script aside from doing a factory reset?
Thanks!

Try it this way:
Uninstall SGS tools
Mount your sd card and delete the sgstools folder
reinstall SGS tools.
Done it, now there's nothing on the apply script option. Checked the sgstools folder in sd card, it's empty.

Ok, here is whats in my folder:
Pretty sure this is all you will need. Hope that helps...
That's all I need indeed! Downloaded the files and moved to sgstools folder. All working now, sweet! Thanks very much mate.

The picture folders take forever to load when I open gallery, does anyone else get this? seems slow creating previews of the pictures
i have the same issue
I went back to di18 and that problem was no more

only remedy I found was back out of the gallery, and re-enter it. It loads normal speed then
I had success a while back deleting all of my thumbnails, early on, in fixing this problem. (Thumbnails are regenerated upon launching after this). Id also check that u have the latest version of the galley that we're using. Check out the development section, and most of the roms there have that version that I haven't had probs with. I don't know what you're running (dk28.. cw3 ext4..?) If so, I'm usng the version in the Truly Epic rom, and also have used Quantum rom's.
Btw, I have a TON of image files on my sd. If you have certain directories that u don't want to appear in the gallery, u can manage them with a .nomedia file. Ask if u have questions about it.

Exactly delete your android folder on the root of your sd card. It still re generate on the next boot and your gallery will be fixed.

I use a alternative picture app, "QuickPic", it's so much faster then the stock gallery app.
Thanks for the tip guys, that fixed my problem

Just rename the folder to x.nomedia?
I just put a bunch of stuff on my phone in different folders, but photosafe and videosafe need licenses to hide things so this would be a good thing to hide them from my less-tech savvy gf and allow me to actually take the security lock off lol

hehe - in response to the first part:
no - don't rename the folder to that. basically, the .nomedia is a file the GOES into a directory that you don't want the media scanner to scan.
The .nomedia file basically says, "move along! nothin to see here!".
So, a .nomedia file would have to be in EACH of the directories you don't want to show up. Keep in mind.. this won't hide them, and in regards to ur gf... a .nomedia file won't have any affect on the history that a media player might keep... so keep that in mind
To create the nomedia file, you can either find one on your sd somewhere, and copy it (pasting into desired folders)
or
open Notepad on ur computer, save the blank file as "nomedia.txt"
Copy it to your SD, in Astro, rename it to .nomedia (with no extension). and you're set.
Hello friends,
Now that the amazing Gokhan has found a way to successfully have cm10.1 as second rom the main hurdle in daily usage for me was that all the data was on my internal sd root and cm looks for files in sdcard/0 folder hence I have found a small workaround which is working perfect for me and everything is awesome :
STEPS :
1) This is assuming that you have a sammy rom as 1st and cm10.1 as second rom already installed and while performing this step your SIII should be booted in samsung rom
NOW PLEASE DELETE ALL FOLDERS FROM 0 FOLDER AND MOVE ALL YOUR INTERNAL SD DATA TO THE 0 FOLDER please ensure that the data in 0 folder i backed up
2) Install directory bind from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262 credits to the dev
3) go to directory bind preferences by hitting the menu button and tick alternate database management
4) go to the main screen of directorybind -> add new entery -> long press where it asks the source and select sdcard/0/Android and press select
similarly long press path area in target and select sdcard/Android and save and then highlight the floppy icon and it should turn green. In the same manner folders like games and whats app can be linked and by doing this you will have all the files in both the roms
I understand the above steps are little difficult and confusing but for now this is the best work around I have thanks
I was searching something like this for a while, im looking for a way to have whatsapp on my sammy stock rom and tamasek cm 10.1 i know you cant have 1 whatsapp account on 2 different phones but i have a dualboot and thats with the same sim offcourse......
Im trying to find a way to create an symlink or mount sammy stock from cm 10.1 to have a working whatsapp on both roms with dualboot.
The problem is that i have cm 10.1 as first rom and sammy stock second.
Maybe anyone else knows how to have whatsapp working on those 2 roms on dualboot?

I'm not sure I understood the first step. Should I
1. Backup all my files in the sdcard/0/ folder
2. Delete all my files in the sdcard/0/ folder
3. Move all data from sdcard/ to sdcard/0/ (excluding the sdcard/0/ folder, of course)
???
If I've to do so when will I restore my sdcard/0/ files?
Thank you anyway for the idea, really helpful

Rescan your SDcard. Either reboot your phone, or download rescanSD app from the play store.

it did not help..
i tried Rescan SD from "sTOOPIDfiG" and "Kevinpr007"
it still not working
but, i did use the camera to capture new pictures,
the new ones i can see in the gallery, but the old ones still cant, all the picture in the same folder !!
1. Copy them (not the parent folder) to another file or off device
2. Reboot
3. Copy back to device original folder
4. Reboot

OK so as you have noticed kit kat does NOT allow third party apps to write to the SD card, this is stupid, but lucky for us we have a fix IF you are rooted
we have 2 solutions
1) using root explorer or something similar go to
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
Click to collapse
and enter the permission that i have circled in red below (see attached) then it will work. Enter it so it looks EXACTALLY like it does below
2) the other option that MAY work is to go to the play store and download SDFix, that does the same thing (however myself and a few others are reporting that it isnt working as it is written)
big thanks to Mr Sam Epic for showing the fix, which came from Unknown Force in a SGS4 forum
****edit 4/19
had a few reports of SDFix not working, it didnt for me, i thought it was just a random error, what i did to fix it was to go into platform.xml and manually edit the permission so it looks exactally like the image below, i put in the extra return after the permission, there is not a logical reason why this fixed it, but it did
Also if you're going the non-rooted approach, although not necessarily preferred, it does work to just copy stuff with the stock my files app, as it is a system app rather than third party.

I'm having to copy my movie and music files to sdcard via the my files app. The app makers need to update so we can automatically save to sd.

If you are rooted and do the fix I listed above and then reboot you should be able to change the directory it saves to, if not uninstall and reinstall the app and all should be fine

Thanks, but will only root when there is a way that doesn't invalidate warranty.

Use an app called File expert. This app has been updated and can read/write to external xd card without root.
