Yep, you might need to install Gapps first, gapps-tiny is a "lite" gapps package, it doesn't include every Gapps

I flashed gapps-tiny but after reboot gives me the following error:
"process com.android.setupwizard has stopped unexpectedly"
and force close......but it doesn't close....any solution to fix this...or just recovery?
or maybe someone knows how to add the market in the rom before cooking it?

If you're cooking the rom from a HTC rom, I don't see why you don't just put every apps and libs from gapps-tiny in the right place, then replacing original vending.apk by mine patched one.
Cook that, flash it and voila!

Hi
some of the devices sold in Europe do not have the android market.
How do I add the device without root android market?
yes, in some country, they sold the phone without market, The solution I found is to flash with another rom who do have the market.
- you can flash custom rom, I think all of them have market
- or you can flash official RUU (be carefull with the froyo RUU, you won't be able to root yet if you do so.)

I noticed in the Liberated ROM that it's using the up to date market. However the CM 6.1.1 release is not. I did some searching and found this. But it's not working for me. I tried installing it from recovery. I also tried placing the apk in the /system/app folder still not working. In fact now market is missing all together.
I'm sure it's a easy fix but for whatever reason I'm not figuring it out.
*Solved*
What I ended up doing is wiping, installing CM 6.1.1 booted up. Then installed gapps-mdpi-20101213-signed.zip from recovery. I'm all set now.
Thanks for posting that gapps.

Any clue why that gapps file is so much smaller than the previous one?
The 10/20/2010 file was 16.7 mb, this one is 3.94 mb... ?

So... install the Oct version first then the updated market version from Dec?

That would be my guess, since the Oct version has several things that the Dec one doesn't. I'll probably give this a shot later myself. Let us know how it turns out!
Just installed that gapps, wiped cache & dalvik just in case, so far booted up fine, market works good too. Thanks!

Here ya go guys, it's Market v2.2.10. It installed and runs perfectly on my Crackflashers AOSP Gingerbread ROM. It's also fixed some issues where I would have to download something five or six times before it would install.
Parse error. Please post in a zip.

Over 150 downloads and it still doesn't work. Any updates?
If anyone has an android central login, can you sign in and download it there and repost here?

Thanks!
Here you go.
Blackrose, how did you install it?
I tried using Root Explorer to rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak and then installing the file. I rebooted, but started getting FCs. I tried restoring the old Market but ended up needing to NANDroid. I am running Salvage Mod 9.6.
None of these are working.
Tried these and several others found around xda.. apparently its also being pushed to Nexus S. None of them work. Tried copying to /system/app and /data/app None of them in either place works.
Using stock 2.2 3.70 rooted rom.

I'm guessing it's because it was specifically designed for Gingerbread.
You have to push it via ADB..
ex..
adb push yourpathname\com.android.vending-1.apk /data/app
This worked for me.
Try this one. The one in the OP is for Gingerbread

I pushed this one via ADB, and while it opens and things look ok, as soon as I tap on a product I get an FC.
Is there something that needs to be done to initialize it? I did clear all the market settings before trying it.
Solution
Its not really much of a solution, more like an insight.
The reason why no one can install the market is because you flashed a rom without the market, then installed a newer version of gapps. The newer version of gapps assumes you updated and still have the market apk installed. The gapps file only includes the apk to update the market app.
Flash an older copy of gapps and then boot your phone. Run the setup and then flash an updated gapps. You now have the updated market.
Also anyone that was having the home button not working issue, this resolves it. Home button stopped working as a result of the above issue. You may have to install a rooted stock rom and then flash cm 6.1.2 and then your kernel and then the gapps in the above order.

Hello Jamie,
because of legal issues the google apps is not included in the rom. You can find a zip to flash in the official thread of that ROM, http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/11667-cyanogenmod-61-for-hero-v610-12072010/
Br,
Henrik
Reflash the rom. It comes with the market right? did you do your wipes etc? failing that, you can download a market apk i think from somewhere in 'general'. That will be the updated market anyway. I sometimes have to flash it as the older market doesnt seem to show all of my downloads...annoying when updates are avail. anyway, i'd say reflash.

Did you flash Utopia Final or SDSL Final? If its Utopia then you need to crate folder called ".cache" on the root of your SD.
