I was wondering if anyone could post the ROM for this version? The other one in this forum isn't the exact same number, so I was just wondering if someone has the .5 version for warranty purposes.
Thanks!
I'm looking at the same version. Unrooted. Anyone got that?
Link to all shipped ROMS
My phone does ship with this rom..and it's unrooted as well.. but I just join the forum today and have no clue how to extract/backup the rom out..if you guy can give me a bit guide though( for example what post to follow) then I can get it out and send it over to you... And does any of you guys know if my phone need to be downgraded if I want to root it? (the guide say firmware version higher than 1.34 need to be downgrade, does my desire Z need to go through that if I want to root it?)

I also have the HTC Desire Z with the same software number 1.34.666.5 and want to root it. I'm not sure if I need to downgrade also before rooting as I do not know enough about putting fastboot on the phone to find out the CID. putting adb isn't so hard. is it possible to just ignore checking the CID and just going the creation of a goldcard to downgrade? If I dont have to downgrade, then it makes things a lot easier.

You dont need to downgrade. 1.34 is froyo, just follow the wiki

According to the Wiki, 1.72 and up require downgrade.
I followed the wiki and successfully rooted my phone to have S off, have Super CID and have simlock off plus have clockwork recovery installed from rom 1.34.666.5 just like ptesmoke
At the end of the guide, it says, "You can delete the files in /data/local/tmp they are not needed anymore. " How do I go about doing this? is it done in ADB? I don't know the commands for it and I don't see this directory on the SDcard. I assume this is in the internal memory of the phone?

Yup you can delete it, I usually use root explorer to do all my stuff dealing with the phones internal mem. It is the phones storage, not your sdcard. If you don't wanna pay for root explorer I think I've heard es file manager handles root directories fine and is free

I am having a hard time finding the 1.34.666.5 rom. I was running cm9 on my Desire Z, but due to company policy, I had to unroot the phone. I got the 1.34.666.1 rom from shipped-roms, and the phone is back to froyo, but apparently need the 1.34.666.5 rom to be able to upgrade to gingerbread. I have searched everywhere for a download, but can't find anything but the .1 rom... Is there any way to upgrade from 1. to the official gingerbread update from HTC?

As per a forum member of XDA-Developers , he states that HTC Wildfire Which is soon to get its Official 2.2 Froyo Update , Is a good news for some , but will give tough times to others , other uses who wish to Root their Android Device.
In Details warriorvibhu Explains that HTC Wildfire will be provided with a OTA Update with HBoot , a Bootloader which would be harder to crack / modify in order to Root the device.

Downgrade???
Do you think the technical staffs of HTC com can downgrade this ROM to OS 2.1? They invent the upgrade utility software, so do you think they can do downgrade???? I am going to the warranty my device. How do you think so?
I am wondering the same, what would happen when I try to flash the 1.37 RUU back on the phone?
If you have upgraded to the offical Froyo either OTA or from RUU your stuck in a hole.
The update changed the bootloader in the Wildfire meaning it is currently impossible to root (which rules out custum ROMS) and you can't role back to a previous RUU because they are written with the old boot loader.
Thats what the original OP of this thread is about.....the fact that it could be a while before it's going to get re rooted via unrevoked or any other method.
So your just gonna have to wait until rooting is supported again by Unrevoked or some other app, or some clever sod figures out how to change the new Boot loader.
Hope someone figures it out soon :/

Is there something like unrEVOked out? I really like how easy it is to root on a EVO and how any unexperienced person can root there phone without much hassle.
HTC seriously ramped up the security on the Vision (G2 and Desire Z). It's not a one-click thing to root, sorry. But it's not hard if you follow the instructions carefully.

Nope there are none. Well you can easily prem root your phone with s-off pretty easily without adb. You should read android development section. i used the old way of getting s-off cause its the fastest way... but if you want the safest way gfree method will do.
Follow the guide on the WIKI of XDA. It's simple and easy. I got it and it's my first time rooting anything. Just read everything carefully and good luck!
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I also read that the method posted on the WIKI page results in very few bricked devices (if any at all for that matter!). Go for it!
Does anyone know what version of ADB/SU should be used to Root the new Desire Z OTA Update? And if this is possible wo Downgrade? I see the Wiki is not too updated

If you are talking about the 1.72 OTA then you can use psneuter to get root, rage won't work at that level. That assumes you already have used gfree at a previous version to get radio S-OFF. Otherwise you have to downgrade.

its okay if you want TEMP
Easy enough to do if you take your time, and well worth it. I had never used ADB before but following along slowly got it to work (took a while to figure out to move all the files I wanted to 'push' into the adb directory!); and although I lost all my games progress (the horror of having to start Angry Birds over again!), I got back all my texts etc. from Google after moving back up to 1.72. There are backup programs in the market that should backup your apps if you want also.
Well worth it if you need root for MarketEnabler like I did; ClockworkMod is nice too for backing up.

At the moment you can't get permanant root on 2.2. You can get a temporary root, but that wont let you edit anything on /system. If you can find someone with an xtc clip you can get your phone S-OFF which makes /system writeable.
Downgrading seems to be easy based off the 2 or 3 step by step guides I've seen on this forum so far.
Your questions are no different to any of the ones asked before by others, please use the search next time.
Downgrading will work, but, it will still be unrootable. As said above, the only way as of now to root 2.2 is by using an XTC Clip hardware box to get S-OFF, then, downgrade (this is a 'proper' downgrade) and root.

I don't believe this. Because that process was not a newer one and was there long ago. If it worked, it must have became a lot popular by now. And "Universal Androot" is not a root application recommended for NAND locked devices like wildfire. If one has bypassed the nand security with xtc clip and made s-off, then this process might work. And once if u make s-off, there are many other rooting options available. But the point here is to root the wildfire with hboot 1.01 and S-ON dude.... Do not just stick with the thread title. Read the thread, he mentioned wildfire 2.2 clearly.
I doubt whether ur device is wildfire or not (if wildfire rooted or not). Check the below attached "Root and Me" application. In that, go to the root guides and check the compatible devices for "Universal Androot" process. There is no wildfire in that.
Just confirm any process after it worked with u guys.

U might not have asked this question if u know that his process is nothing but "Universal Androot".
Inspite of being aware, i just tried it for u. It won't work and says failed.
If anyone wants to recheck they might. Actually that process is little bit confusing. And im attaching a screen shot of that website below.
The process says to install "App installer" just to install an apk file. Cant we install an apk file from a file manager ? This is ok.
Then the process says just to enable usb debugging alone to transfer the apk file frm PC to wildfire. It not even says from ADB, so i expect it means to transfer through disk drive. Come on stop joking.
I found that this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
was very helpful I am running droid 2.2 Froyo on a Cherry Mobile Candy
I was able to root my phone semi permanently. So long as I don't clear the data for the Z4root program I maintain superuser status. So far I have had no problems and have been able to remove bloatware using AntTek App manager with ease.
thanks man

Flash a 1.32 RUU, then root and do s-off. Simple as that.
As Hawk said. You won't be able to actually preserve it, but have to root it again, as you will lose root by flashing stock.

He will lose the root by flashing stock RUU.
So just root again and not flash any custom kernels or custom ROM.

And the same goes for the ROM, I would advise the Ace_HTC_WWE, rather then the _Vodafone one, which proberly has a full of their blow-wear, as you must know what it was like when you purchased it.
But like anything else, the choice is your.

Follow part of this downgrade thread. You need to DL the PD98IMG.zip file.
As you already have root, skip the adb temp root part, and follow this copied directly from the above guide;
•Put PD98IMG.zip to your SD card. Do not put the file into a folder...... Do not extract
•Reboot while holding volume down, it will go to the bootloader
•Follow the instructions (start the update)
•Done. You can now proceed with old S-OFF methods, and remove the PD98IMG.zip from your SD. I recommend Radio S-OFF for new users.
Then,
Follow this guide for temp/permroot with visionary and S-off using
Easy Radio Tool DL Link at end of 2nd post
Then,
Follow this guide for ENG S-off using the
Easy S-off tool DL link at bottom of page
Hope this helps, just make sure you read every in full at least twice.

umm not sure if you understand where i am, im on a custom rom already mate, im going back to stock, i dont need to downgrade
Well when you follow Upintheair's instructions, you get a stock ROM, and it is not really a downgrade because you do not have to use the command line commands. You do not have to run the radio s-off tool, though. Just run ENG S-OFF tool.
The other way is to flash Raidroid Stockify series ROM, it is a rooted stock ROM that you can flash in clockworkmod.
Helllo,
I have a desire hd on software version 1.84.110.3 on 2.2.1 branded on t-mobile. I basically want to debrand the phone and install the stock unbranded software to get rid of the t-mobile apps and flash screen, and get software updates quicker. If possible I would like to keep my phone in a stable state so if anything did happen to the phone in the future I can send it back for repair. Is this possible if so how would i go about it? Thanks in advance.

I think once you've SuperCID'd your phone you don't need a goldcard, as that just messed about with something to do with CIDs.
The T-Mobile RUU is on my site you can find it HERE
It's easy

I got my T-Mobile HD Desire yesterday...and today I have LeeDroid Gingerbread running on it. I used the gold card method found here: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
It was simple. Just follow the steps exactly and you'll have no problems. I followed the links in that website to complete the process. My phone is rooted, radio s-off and eng s-off. There seemed to be so many different ways of doing it on this forum that I eventually gave up. That link, above, is on one of the "how to's" in here and references this site - I just found it clear, concise and easy to follow because it's aimed at noobs rather than tech-wizards. Good luck!
So i need to create a gold card and then perm root it with s-off? And i am fine doing all this with my software version?

You have no option but to downgrade. You can't root the phone until you've done that, and you can't stick a custom ROM on unless the phone is rooted.
Like I said, there seemed to be so much conflicting information on here that I went elsewhere. That link, and the ones that follow, are well written in plain English.
These are the steps I followed:
1 - Make goldcard: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
2 - Permroot the phone: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-permanently-root-htc-desire-hd-complete-guide/
3 - Radio S-Off and Eng S-Off: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-gain-s-off-radio-and-engineering-on-htc-desire-hd/
4 - Flashed Optional FULL WIPE to EXT4 patch, then flashed radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2, and then flashed the ROM all from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056727
I followed Lee's instructions to the letter and had no problems.
Dips44,
I am thinking of doing the same. I'd be interested to hear about your experience and any recommendations.
Cheers,

I dont think i will be doing it just yet as there is just to many guides out there and confusion. I mean just on this thread somesay go for it others say downgrade, need a goldcard, goldcard not needed. Let me know if you do try
Just to clarify,
If your T-Mobile branded you WILL need a goldcard. If your software version is greater than 1.3x.xxx.x you WILL need to downgrade to root. The goldcard is needed to downgrade.
Where else are you confused? I am more than happy to help.
Ok so let me get this straight I will need to follow the follow steps
I will need to create a goldcard following this guide
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...htc-desire-hd/
I then need to downgrade...
How do I do that?
Once I have downgraded I need to perm root following this guide
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...omplete-guide/
I then need to s-off using this guide
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...htc-desire-hd/
Do I need e-off? What is this? Also how do I then install an official unbranded gingerbread rom?
Thanks
Where to start. Follow this guide.
How to downgrade to 1.32.405.6 WWE
You want to follow Section's 1 & 2a
Also i have read about ruu...can i just flash my phone with a ruu?
Once you have followed that guide, simply follow this one.
One click ENG S-OFF
Then this one,
One click Radio S-OFF tool
Simply put this is the process you need to follow.
1). Create Goldcard
2). Downgrade to 1.32
3). Root using Visionary+
4). Remove device security & SIM unlock
5). Enjoy
Great thanks for that just one more question once i have done all that how can i flash an offical gingerbread rom?

A RUU (ROM Update Utility) allows you to flash a HTC ROM. Yes you can flash a RUU, but not to complete the process set out above.

Once you have followed all the above guides, your handset will be ready to flash anything.
Download ROM Manager from the Market, and flash ClockworkMod Recovery from there. Any 3.x.x.x recovery is sufficient.
Now donwload this ROM - seraphic_gb_rooted_0-1.zip
From this thread - HERE - 1st Post
This ROM is the exact HTC Gingerbread update but with root access added. Nothing else and nothing taken away.

Well this maybe a better root for me as i dont really need root access. I just want to debrand and install gingerbread....that possible? or should i follow the guide?
Ok, if that is the case, simply downgrade to 1.32.405.6 then run the latest Gingergread RUU.
