Hi,
I'm having a problem with the Galaxy Tab. I keep being diverted to mobile sites like BBC iPlayer which I don't want.
There is no option to switch mobile view off like on my HTC Desire.
I've also installed Opera Mobile, Dolphin HD and Skyfire and tried to use the desktop function but still be presented with mobile sites.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? :-/
Try this.... It works for me.
Open the stock browser and type cnn.com. It should take you to the mobile page m.cnn.com.
Next, type about:useragent in the address bar and tap ok to confirm your choice.
Now, type cnn.com and make sure it goes to www.cnn.com.
It works this way on my T-Mobile Tab.

It seems to be a problem with the shipping firmware on UK models (at least).
No matter what I did (i.e. changing user agent etc), or what browser I used, I could not get full desktop iPlayer to work on the Tab using the default firmware.
Upgrading to JK1 does fix the issue - or at least it did for me and others.
Regards,
Dave

I tried it, it seems to work with cnn.com, but there are other websites that do not respond to the user agent change. Maybe it needs a custom user agent, but I would not know what parameters to enter. Anybody?
I'm using the Miui browser that when setting user agent chrome desktop.. actually does the trick.
Dolphin Browser HD.
Settings/User Agent/Desktop.
Very cool browser -- it has become my default. (Now if only we can find a solid fix to the no-phone-call/3G issue before my 30 day return period expires -- You Hear Me T-Mobile?!? No, I can't leave that alone... sorry.)

sigh... Galaxy Tabs sold by carriers in the USA (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T) have disabled the Galaxy Tabs' ability to make and receive traditional voice calls.
And yes, I am aware that being able to make/receive traditional voice calls might not be a concern of yours. So noted.
I, like many (as is evidenced by the myriad of threads discussing this very topic), would like to be able to make/receive these traditional voice calls -- as this capability is standard on Galaxy Tabs around the world.

Hi Guys, just thought id post my thoughts on the Leo.
Ive been using mine now for over 2 weeks having come from an N95(and several failed attempts at finding something I liked inbetween including various iphones, N97 etc etc) so to the thoughts.,
The screen for me was a bit tricky as many have said before, I have huge hands, but decided to persevere.
Has to be said that after about a 10 day period typing messages etc became much easier, after 2 weeks it was brilliant, but then came the eureka moment, which it has to be said was'nt good for me, but telling all the same.
After flashing the ROM, the typing experience became similar to a fair proportion of others on here, infuriating!
Now thinking logicly about it, I decided it couldn't be the screen as was fine before, only thing changed was the ROM, so was software, tried a screen align, hmmm, worse still, did it again, slightly better, but still no cigar, went and checked settings and set to how id had it before, no vibrate(seems to fubar typing), keyboard click on, screen click on, correct as you type on, complete words in both XT9 and ABC both on and did screen align again, now zoila, its better than before(after another screen align) no more false inputs although xt9 has to learn my vocab again(annoying) but it really is a revelation.
Now the only thing annoying me is the long sms list issue (although partialy sorted by selecting all messages and going in through WM)
Can I just add, absolutely epic site guys and thanks to all those that spend there own time making the WM experience better for all!!
Noooo! you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to try typing for 5 minutes, throw your toys out the pram and go buy an iPhone.. *then* come on to xda developers and post a nice long rant about how poor the entire phone / windows mobile is (bonus points for expletives and spelling mistakes).
Fixing problems in an intelligent, logical manner? whatever next?!
I just got my HTC HD2 from Royal Mail. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. The screen is just gorgeous and the navigation is really smooth and snappy. The videos online really do not do it justice.
I've just got a few of questions. I heard that Opera does not support flash, is this true? and will this change in the future?
I tried using IE to open youtube but it doesn't seem to play anything. It has the flash 9 logo and that's it. How do I play videos via the web browser?
Also, when I open up IE it says that it connects using my data plan and I may get charged. Does it not work over WiFi?
I'm just uploading files onto it right now but yes, this device has had my jaw on the floor since I opened the packaging. By far the best phone I have ever owned.

Opera doesn't support flash.
Use the You Tube app already on your handset, it works perfectly.
For playing videos within your browser, download the Skyfire browser for free. I don't like the interface and therefore only use it when I have to but it supports flash and you can play videos and surf for porn on it lol.
gamma500. looks like you still need to find the return key (aka as enter key) as this is the only thing missing in your message. Or did you type it on a PC keyboard, and is the return key (aka as enter key) broken?

Opera doesn't support flash and IE only has 'flashlite' which isn't suitable for playing video. You will need to download Skyfire but the You Tube app will be in your start menu - press the icon at the top left of the screen or the windows button in the middle at the bottom - then scroll through the icons.

I don't have it pre-installed, is there somewhere I can get it? It's wierd that they didn't include it. Is anybody here on T-Mobile UK who has it pre-installed?
Dont have a HD2 ...yet! But from what I have read Youtube is not included on the T-Mobile handset.
Thanks Christonabike, personally don't see the merit in ranting, seldom effective in sorting issues and htc-hd2, in an effort to be cloggy friendly have inserted a few returns just for you!

Fantastic! Disabling the vibrate response was one of the best things I could do! I can actually type for long periods of time with little errors and the XT9 and ABC is working great now, I didn't realise it could learn... so have been typing in all of my Northern Irish phrases that we use over here!
I'm happy once again, I'm really starting to love this phone; was a bit doubtful at the start and was thinking my N95 8gb looked like a good option to go back to but my faith is growing in this device by the day!
Once again to OP, thanks!
It Just gets better with time Rossimac, which only became apparent after having flashed the ROM and thereby losing two weeks of it.
Working Proximety sensor & Internal speaker without 3rd party application within Skype (sick of putting it on lock first so i dont hit anything

swype is by far the best keyboard. Also i dont know what you are doing but it only takes two taps to change you keyboard. In any text entry screen you will see a little upwards pointing arrow at the bottom of the screen.... tap this to bring up all your input options.

USA T-Mobile has no restriction on torrent.
I'm using my HD2 as the Wi-Fi Router and posting this right now whilst downloading torrent files.
Of course, They still might warn me, or at the worst case, ban me at any time like my ISP at home did.

Perhaps a little clarification is in order.
I'm using my HD2 as a wireless router, and downloading torrent files on my computer using t-mobile data service.
Opera 10 is nice, apart from no pinch to zoom (external program must be installed first)
& flash like i said earlier does not work If it did, It wouldnt say you are required to install new version, skyfire works well with www.narutoget.com but as a browser its terrible compared to opera10
Any way to make it happen? A lot of people he websites i've tried are giving me the mobile site and it's getting on my nerves.
Thanks

Unfortunately, you will have to do this after each reboot of the device. This has been an issue from the earliest versions of Android and Google seem to be incapable of finding a solution to what on the face of it seems to be a relatively simple problem.

Dolphin Pad seems to be a bit better about remembering this...although some sites still insist on loading the mobile versions, at least it seems to remember the setting once it's set. It's a good browser anyway, I keep going back and forth between the normal browser and it, can't decide which one I like better. Both are good.

What are you talking about? I set defalt browser to desktop a month ago and it still shows as desktop.
That's not the same thing - that just renders in desktop mode. Sites can (and some still) redirect you to an m. version. The difference being major HTML/CSS /JS(Q) etc. Optimization for mobile browsing is still a concern for a lot of Web developers.
You can set to render Desktop but the sites that check mostly doesn't care what you have it set at. If you don't meet its criteria for a Desktop browser they will redirect you to a m. version (IF they have that functionality in place - not all sites do)
EDIT***
I'd also like to add that the the UserAgent setting not being permanent is in all likelihood a Honeycomb bug. Nobody can get it to stick using the stock browser however it works flawlessly on 2.x OS versions.
I just went into the browser settings, under advanced, changed to desktop and I don't get the mobile sites anymore.

As i say in the title, after the last update i have an issue with the browser and i can see many websites in mobile mode only. In the settings i have (as usual) user agent = desktop !
I have :
1) cleared the cache
2) done a cold boot
3) changed user agent in mobile mode - reboot - changed again in dektop mode - reboot
but without a positive result -_-
Please tell me anything i can do. Thanks.
P.S.
I'm not the only one with this issue, according with comments seen in some blog...
Same here
:/
But where is or when come out the solution ?
Asus knows this issue ?
The only solution I have had is to switch browsers. I find that one must have the stock browser as well as Opera and Dolphin, at a minimum. Each one seems to see the same site in different ways
Same here. Browser in general seems less buggy and much faster but many websites, such as the Gawker family, seem to be trying to force mobile no matter what now. In fact setting user agent to tablet seems to fix this for some sites while desktop works for others or neither work.
Same here too. It's very annoying and I don't see any improvement in the stock browser. Still loads web pages slowly and I can still see blocks when scrolling on some sites.
Otherwise SuperNote is nice but it's not enough to make the update worthy.
I agree Nikola ! Browser is same as before but with this issue.
I use Maxthon browser for now...i hope this bug will be solved sooooon.
How the hell is it that Google, the author of the best browser around (Chrome), can screw up the Android built-in browser so bad?!!?!??!
Geez - as hard as I tried, I just cannot use it as my default browser any more... Back to Dolphin!
I accidently found a fix by flashing the Circle battery/Xoom button file.

Google has, but NY Times does not.
For NY Times (international access) the quickest way is to select the "Site help" link and from that page the "Go to home page". That brings up the desktop view of the home page.
Too bad we have to apply all sort of tricks when it's Google that didn't test enough before releasing updates to the browser.

Right...however NY Times opens in the desktop version on both Opera and Dolphin
If you are fortunate enough to have rooted your Transformer then you can apply my fix that I posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18053134&postcount=469
For Users that do not have root, given that Asus added the new user-agent url lookup thing then I hops they will soon do something on their server so that the Desktop setting brings up Normal web pages and not mobile ones.
I see NYT in full without any tricks. Some sites were pushing mobile versions, but after finding link for full version on each one everything is fine.
However, new browser brings drop down button with back/forth/reload buttons, so you don't need to scroll from bottom to top for them. Big thing. Also I found option for openning new tab in background, although I am not sure if it was there before.
What I need (besides more speed) is back/forth history on long press, so I can jump several pages. And a spell checker.
I would also like content of browser to be preserved in memory when I am using another application. Android is too aggresive in clearing memmory, flushing to storage should be used.
Thanks Roach, you are indispensable.
Then a new firmware is not needed because, as noticed, sometime a website goes on mobile mode and sometime goes on desktop mode.
Right ?

You need to root and have ClockWorkMod on your Note to flash those files.
Here is the link on how to root and install CWM5. It's a long read but basicly you download the root programme, the correct modified Kernel file, extract the kernel into the root programme folder (do this 2 times until you get a zip file), then let the programme do the magic (takes 2 mins).

Thank you.And does it also support the text reflow which is not working properly in the stock browser?,I am using the Opera but relutantly mainly for those two reasons.
I have another reason idon't use the stock browser.
You can't have the buttons that let you adjust the text size to the screen as much as you want.
At first i was convinced that it was a mistake on my part, but no, as hard to believe as it is they dropped something as essential as this, they did.
Could someone post firmware specific browser links?
I am for instance currently on XXKKA.
Yes, reflow would be very nice. I use Dolphin HD but reflow doesn't work there either. Rotating the display triggers text reflow though...

why you guys not try firefox? reflow, user agent, plus the powerful adblock plus!
The reflow in stock works once...many third party browsers I can double tap a number of times for continual reflow.
The zoom icon allows continual reflow also but it's not available on stock.
If modded on it'd probably work well.
