This came up in another thread and I just wanted to put it out there in case others have the problem and don't follow the thread. I know I have bought apps before on the Marketplace but now, for some reason, I can only see apps that are free. I am using the most recent Google Ion image, with sqsh.
Any ideas?
-Xrom1.5r4c
-Verizon
-No Paid Apps Available
Just noticed that, I wonder if its the rom or if in fact its our carrier signature thats blocking the paid. I know Verizon is launching its first Android Handset by Motorola called the Sholes A855 and I am wondering if they disable the paid apps option in lieu of its own app marketplace. If anybody else can confirm this, please note like I did what carrier, rom and if you can access paid apps.

I don't think it's a ROM issue as we both use different builds. I'll try a few things tonight and see what I can come up with unless someone else does first.
Looks like we aren't the only ones... but this was back in July and there was no reply to it:
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f12/android-market-not-showing-paid-apps-22043/
Hopefully we can get this resolved.
Have tried all of the roms and I am on Sprint. I NEVER get have seen paid apps.
i second that from verizon. never have had paid apps. tried all roms. Im liking this latest hero rom though. i think im gonna stick with it. pretty smooth

I'm on Sprint and have paid apps on my phone, but none are showing in the market recently. I wondered why I couldn't find Bloo or Cachmate! To confirm I went to Applications > All Applications > Menu >Change View>Priced Items Only and nothing was returned.
I also saw that there is a new market coming out. When it is launched will we be able to use that on our port?
Looks like this might be our problem, this was posted two days ago (about the time we stopped seeing paid apps) so I'm guessing whatever change they made could have done something to our ability to view and purchase paid apps. I'm debating whether or not to post on the official forums about our problem.

Hi everyone,
We made a change today that should fix accessibility issues for some Samsung Galaxy and HTC users. If you're still having issues, please let me know.
Thanks for your patience.

EDIT: I posted a question on the google support forums, hopefully they will answer or at least look into what could be causing the issue: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=44ab7732ede802ef&hl=en
I know that the no-paid-apps problem is still persisting but my luck has just changed for the worse. Now, I can only see about 18 apps in total on the market and I can't filter out free/paid.
Use the market enabler found here:
http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/
Load it up, long-press on the carrier of your choice (I use T-Mobile US) and select "Use this profile" or whatever. Should do the trick.
However, after running the Donut Market, as noted by some people in the Donut thread, most of the apps in the market will disappear, even if you go back to Cupcake.

Yeah, must have been the Donut Market that screwed me up. Running Market Enabler does nothing for my phone, guess I'll be getting the Sholes when it hits Verizon in a few weeks.

you and i my friend are in the same raft
but i have an idea
if someone that is getting all paid/free or just free apps could download
market enabler
then post there settings that are default then we could custom fake them

I am also paddling right next to you guys. What I tried was clearing the phone of my google login data. This allowed me to create a new google account the next time I launched GMail or Market. I was then able to see all of the free apps on Market. Unfortunately, when I re-cleared my google login data, in order to login back into my real gmail account, I was back to only seeing 20 apps.

Shakes his fists at the Google gods! Curse you!
Yeah, market enabler won't do anything for our Donut Market Corruption, AFAIK.
However, over on the Hero forums, they don't seem to have a problem with the Market. So I asked them about it, and Maximus asked to see our build.prop, which I provided for him both from our cupcake and donut builds. If I have time tomorrow I will download a Hero image and compare their build.prop to ours and see if I can figure anything out.
OK... I may have figured some more stuff out.
I was browsing the Sapphire forums, and found that the dev of one of their Donut ROMs changed the device name to MyTouch, for reasons similar to the issues we're having:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4674402&highlight=market#post4674402
Again, if I get time tomorrow, I will look into modifying some roms to see what results I can get. Hopefully we can get past this. And hopefully the problem doesn't follow me to the HTC Hero I'm getting next month.

Hey guys i'm using a HTC Polaris with ION build. After tested a tattoo build i suffer from the same problem. For me there are also FREE Apps not showing! for example shopsavvy! is this shown in your market?
Thanks
P.S. I also used Market enabler without any effect!
So far I've noticed the following apps can't be found:
Google Places Directory
Mobile Banking for Android
Keeper
Sleepy Time Pro
Wolfram Alpha
I'm sure there are many more. Most of my apps restored themselves on first boot (since I was using CM6.1.1), but I can't find these in the Market at all.
Yes, I've noticed a few missing and some that refuse to install(like Ringlert.) Market will find it, will let you tap it, but it'll refuse to download. This was on both WiFi and 3G.
A few hiccups are to be expected, imo, given that this is a new device and the newest version of Android.
You could probably edit your build.prop, reduce the API version, and get the apps to show up. There are apps I bought on my G1 that still don't show on my N1. Thank goodness for Titanium Backup. Most apps should be updated within the next week or so.
See application section.
I have hard time to get some paid applications.
I'm still on AT&T using an AT&T SIM, I'll check on my Market see if these show up.
Google Places... this is no longer on the market. IT'S BUILT INTO GOOGLE MAPS. If you have Google Maps installed, it'll have an icon for Places. Also accessible by tapping on the Places icon in Google Maps.
Mobile Banking For Android... The Bank of America one? It's on my Market.
I see Wolfram Alpha
Which keeper? there's a million.
I also see Sleepy Time.
Again, I'm using an AT&T SIM.
I will have T-Mobile in an hour.
Yup this needs a market fix (or Google needs to add the Nexus S to the proper list -_-)
So it's finally out. What do you guys think? Is this the end of Appbrain? I loved appbrain cause I can browse the apps on the website and then just click install from there and it will automatically install on the phone. Now this can do it too!
The biggest upside to this? You can install (after you pay) "in-app" purchase app from the website. e.g. you can install the NBA League Pass from the website directly. Any other features I missed?
This is from Google themselves, not me.
https://market.android.com/
Cool. I like it.
I never really got into appbrain, because it still involved that extra step of opening the application itself.. and blah.. I think, I can't even remember. It just seemed tedious at the time to go onto the computer when it was quicker on my phone.
Then when Google does it, I'm all over it. I have been installing random applications just to install them. Why is this so awesome?!
I played with it for a while now and everything seems to be working well. I guess I can save some space by uninstalling appbrain and use this instead.
sweet jesus!
I'm like'n it...good stuff!
The automatic OTA install is working to my N1 and my Galaxy Tab now, it wasn't earlier this morning.
Works well!
With this new website comes another big change that will happen in the 3rd quarter of this year: NO MORE "LITE" version apps.

That's actually a good thing. You download the "free" application, and then if you decide to unlock it you buy the key from within the app rather than a separate unlocker application, or having the market cluttered with 2 separate versions.
Sounds like a plan!
The in-app purchasing as a general concept I'm not a massive fan off as it has the potential to lead to nickle & diming, primarily for games, but if used responsibly it should be good.
Wow, about time. Glad to see it's finally here.
now all they need to do is let you backup your app data. I dont want to lose my angry birds scores everytime i switch roms and forget to back it up with titamium backup
Well, I don't suppose there's a way for Market Enabler to work on the website?
It lists paid apps from all over the world, but it knows your phone's carrier and will prevent installs if your country does not support it..
I guess it's back to Market Enabler on the phone.
Anyone else having trouble actually buying apps from the website? Installing free apps works like a charm, but trying to purchase and install paid apps doesn't work. I press continue and _nothing_ happens.
running CM7 nightlies and the OTA installs are not working...
According to the website, you need to be logged into GTalk, only my GTalk won't log in. GTalk also appears to be missing from the market, so the problem may be on their end...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Doesn't work for me, it's been years and Android Market still doesn't support Google Apps accounts for Checkout. Although I can login, no devices are listed under "my devices" on market.android.com
I'm running CM7 Nightlies as well, I'm a few behind though, and I'm always logged into GTalk and the OTA's are not working for me either.
It's not working here on MM v.20. I've tried installing several apps but nothing happens on the phone end, the GTalk solution they give also doesn't help. Weird thing is they all show up on my app list as completed when none of them have actually installed.

I'm having the same issue. I'm running CM6.1 kangorama's version and the install says it has worked on the website, but nothing changes on the phone itself.
I'm wondering if it has to do with it being a rooted device without a stock rom?

I'm betting that someone is going to have to create a Web App Store Enabler or something along those lines for this to work on rooted phones or phones without stock ROM's.
I don't like the dialer because I am using the Atrix in Germany and the number formatting looks strange.
Also the AT&T market app is annoying. I want to see "My downloads" instead of "My AT&T".
Is it possible to replace it?
Yes it is. Try changing your language first, then you can try downloading dialer one from the market.
Where should I change the language?
English is the only language I can understand from the four offered languages.
"more locale" app might help u
finding a decent dialer is impossible
i cannot find one thats better than the MIUI dialer
dialer one is meh, bulky and slow
Thanks, MoreLocale2 worked great!
Only the branded AT&T market is still annoying...
The Market app isn't branded - it's a side-effect of the changes Google has made to the server side of the market. All the US carriers have it that way now.

Sprint phones will now see a "Sprint" tab in the Android Market instead of the (preferred by many) "Downloads" tab. It's the same on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile Android phones (at least the ones I have).

The actual Market app is the same for everyone though.
while in the market press the settings button (one of those buttons at the bottom of the phone) and on the list of options, one is "my downloads" where you can view downloads, and update apps.
After I have unlocked my phone I have the "normal" market back
how did you unlock?
With the service from http://www.swiftunlocks.com/ for 18$
I really don't like the new play store design. First off, I can't see everything from left to right because I guess my phone screen isn't wide enough or maybe the custom dpi i'm using is throwing it off. I know I could turn the phone on it's side and that would solve this problem, but I prefer to keep it vertical. Secondly, I hate having to swipe left and right to scroll through the apps available in each category. I guess I just prefer to old school up and down method. I have tried reverting to version 5.10 with the old school design, but the play store keeps auto updating me to version 6.
Is there any way I can keep this from happening so I can stick with one of the 5.0 versions of the market? I searched around the net and saw a few suggestions, but most of those were a few years old and must not work on lollipop. Is there an updated way to do it? And yes I am rooted if that means anything using either Bliss or Tesla ROM.
Thanks....
Same. Totally sucks. Unfortunately I think we're stuck with it being that it can't function without the auto update. I could be wrong and hope I am because the new UI is a pile of crap.

I don't know what team black out is. If it's a theme then the theme would carry over to a new play store update. All of my themes carry over. It could be a hacked version of the play store you are using which might explain why it doesn't auto update.
EDIT: I found a thread here on XDA that talked about modding the playstore apk by signing it with a different key and that would prevent google from updating it. Problem is, 'm not sure what that means. I'm comfortable with making changes to system apps because I used to do that all the time in the past to theme apps before the theme engines came along, but I have never signed an app with a different key so I don't know what that means. Going to have to do some searches to see if I can figure out how to do it.
