STAY AWAY! There is currently an app on the market called Reboot Button and it haas several options such as Recovery Reboot and Remove Lagfix. Not only did it not work, but it almost bricked my phone! Thank you CWM!

Edit: It turns out that the App is OK and VooDoo threw me a curve and the app is working fine! Thanks for the Replies and the help.
For what it's worth, I downloaded "Reboot Button" from the dev's thread here on XDA, and I use it pretty much daily without issues.
May be a fluke?

You got voodooed. The app does what it is supposed to do. It's voodoo that has a mind of its own. Especially when you start flashing things around voodoo.
good day.
Well I will take that into consideration. I do want to thank everyone here at XDA!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yup. That's my app. It seems that the Voodoo installation in some of the current kernels is a little unstable.
jt1134's stable kernel 11/02 (available on ROM manager) seems to be stable. I've switched it on and off 10 or 12 times in the last day or so with the app, and it has worked 100%.
When you disable the fix, it can take 20-25 minutes to reconvert, and if you get impatient and pull the battery, you will have scary results.

After I rooted my SF I noticed that whenever i go to Settings and go into About Phone and check for System Updates I get this error
Sorry! The application settings (processcom.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close
is this something i should be worried about? At first i thought maybe it was because i had a custom rom or maybe a kernel but i have tried several rom and kernel combos just to be sure but i keep getting the same error. The rest of the phone has been working fine. I am currently using Superdark rom and stupidfast kernel.
This is my first Android phone so i am still learning. Thanks.
Pretty much all the custom roms for our phone have ota updates disabled which its why you get that error. Don't sweat it.

Don't worry!!! We have a Maintenece update on the way!! Not froyo, maintenance, God knows what they might actually do with the froyo update.

Thanks for the quick response Hatespawn. Glad i don't have to worry about it. Looking forward to the maintenance update, ksizzle9. Hopefully it'll address the gps issue.
billypickett-there are much smarter and experienced people than me that have written up very easy directions. Take a few minutes and look around in this forum and you'll find a much better answer than i would give. Good luck.
Does anyone elses galaxy s need rebooting about once a day because after a while launchers reboot when you go to your homescreen and apps always act, like they've been force closed when you go back on then after exiting using the home button?
Also, when I'm using my phone and I get a call it hangs for about 5 seconds before my ringtone comes on. is this normal?

Download and install an apps from market . . Free . . Called 'Fast Reboot' . . It don't actually reboot but close the unnecessary programs within seconds and make the phone much faster . . It works for me. . .
It might be your rom.. What rom are you using? New ones (even stock) somehow feel better than the old ones
I'm on darky's 10.1 and I already have fast reboot but it doesn't help.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Is it just me with this problem then?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Same problem here, I'm on darky 10.1 too. Apps keep acting as mentionned above
I have already flashed the rom again but it doesn't seem to work =/

So does everyone have these problems?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Nope, no problem here phone is always responsive, even after days. Stock 2.3.4 + voodoo kernel ext4

Could you please post your baseband version, kernel etc from about phone?

I'm now on simply honey 3.8 on the dark core kernel with ext4 lagfix active. I get around 1900 on quadrant but it still feels as though I need to reboot every day becausw at some point in the day it starts getting really laggy and slows down.

install a cache cleaner - runs daily
Mine is on stock JPJV6 and i don't reboot it neither it does itself no matter how many days it's running. I think last time i restarted it after 9 days to clear the battery stats after full charge.
Try a different kernel. Dark core just didn't play nice for me. Also try one of the ram hacks out there (juwes for example) as I found it made things better regarding the home screen.

I've never had these problems on my phone, and from the replies it seems that very few other people have, so it might be caused by your combination of non-
standard software.
Just as a test, try loading GB 2.3.3. on your phone, in it's standard form, and see if you get the same problems, if you do it's a hardware problem, if you don't it's a problem with your choice of Roms.
Best of luck.

Okay, I'll calm down... Thanks, in advance...

EC07:
Browser based apps acutally are working now, not crashing. IE. TDbank and words with friends.
Way better memory managment. Apps not closing as much!
Better battery life by far!!!
Also EC07 can be rooted via superoneclick
So where it at? I been looking but no new posts or threads in xdaprem apo....

Coming Soon
p3droid made it available in the Team BlackHat app over at mydroidworld.
For those who want to know.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
EC07 is from TeamBlackHat, if you feel like getting it immediately and having a stock phone, then go for it and spend the $2 for the app to download it. Otherwise, wait another day or two and we'll have deodexed, pre-rooted, and debloated versions for you to flash.
Based on the upgrade to 2.2.2, I'm thinking that this is roughly equivalent to ED05 for the Fascinate.

Okay, okay, okay... Sorry I became a little over excited.
In all reality, I really appreciate all that you, trailblazer, pastorbennett, and joshkoss have done for the Continuum. I will contribute where I can, however, it is you guys that have really done a bunch of work on it. Yes, I can be patient. Thank you again.
May not be tube right place for this question, but is there anyway that we get some cool roms like cm7? Or is that Technically unreasonable?

whether or not the continuum ever gets aosp is one thing...but froyo leaks probably wont help much...froyo and ideally (although unlikely) gb source would
although who knows...i know imnuts took a crack at continuum mtd awhile ago

I've been runnin ec07 for about 2 days without incident, and even though its not a huge upgrade it does feel less buggy and battery seems to have improved dramatically imo....I rooted using soc and so far awsomeness.....one dumb question: what does deodexed mean?
sent from my XDA phone - its more than a continuum
Deodexed is a non optimized rom meaning it can be themed and modded. Odexed is the exact opposite.
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA App
I am not quite sure what you mean is "not optimized" There is no optimization differences, other than the fact the first boot is faster on odexed roms than deodexed roms xP
But you are right with the theming

problems with orientation
Has anyone been able to make their home screen rotate with the froyo roms? I saw some others mentioning being able to make their's rotate when tilting the phone sideways but mine will not, any suggestions?
gingerbread theme
I also lost the gingerbread theme when i swapped roms to EC07 (joshkoss beta1) will the gingerbread theme for the ec03 beta3 release work on the ec07?
Absolutely not xP

After seeing all the set ups in the ROM/Kernel combo thread, I put V6 supercharge on my phone last night. Maybe it's too early but I am not seeing any improvement. Let me add that I always exit out of apps using the back button vs. the home button which normally kills the app thus keeping my RAM more free. I don't know if that's why I'm not seeing any difference or what. My phone is already snappy so I'm not complaining. Just wanted to see what sort of results everyone else was getting.
You set it up wrong

Did it say the settings/minfrees stuck after you rebooted?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Make sure the "Supercharge" script under /system/etc/init.d is set to "Run at Boot" and "Run as Root," using Script Manager of course, and then Reboot your device.
Yes it stuck and yes I am running the script in the system folder. Maybe a better question to ask is what sort of improvements have others seen and what setting are you using.
Thank you both for your replies.

I'm using 8 at the moment. It's hard to tell, because this is a new ROM for me, but I ran 9 on MIUI and there was definite, visible improvement in response time.
In the past I was a rom of the week type of person and then something happend in May. I installed Bi-Winning and added the Bali v1.8.8UV kernel and life was good. My phone didn't crash (often) and battery live was 24+ hours. Everything just worked.
Fast forward to this past sunday. I see everyone talking about how good ICS Passion v5 was so I decided it's time to start experimenting again. The first install seemed to go ok except the radio didn't work. A phone really needs a radio to make calls and access the interweb. Back it down to CM7 and no boot.... Flash back to stock, root, find a version of CWM that will work, install CM7, update to ICE Passion and all seems ok.... for about 3 hours. Then it crashes and won't reboot. Looking adb logcat tells me that I have a disk I/O error. Get into CWM and back it down to CM7 and run that for an hur or so to see my battery deplete by 35%. By 7:00 the battery was dead.
Last night I rolled back to Bi-winning/Bali and it was smooth as silk. Woke up this morning to my phone alarm and see that I have 93% battery... Life is good again.
This isn't a stab at the Passion/CM7 devs. I really appreciate everything they do and hopefully I will one day be using one of their roms. For now the Bi-Winning/Bali combo has me totally spoiled and ruined my enjoyment of rom du jour.
Guess to each their own, enjoyed miui for the past month or so and moved onto passion ics v4 (v5 tethering isn't working for me). It's been great, granted it's not perfect but it's only going to get better.
I'm with dfaceb. Been through many roms, most recently omfgb, and I'm loving passion v5 with 17 to 18 hours between charges. The transition to v5 (install) was seamless in my case.

Unfortunately it requires you to odin back to stock, root it, install clockwork and then install the froyo rom.
