[Q] unlock fascinate to sprint network - Fascinate General

Hey guys new here, great site by the way, so I cancelled my contract early with verizon after having my fascinate for only two weeks. With sprint now. Wondering am I able to unlock my fascinate and use it on sprint if the phone is not in service? Thanks for any help

It's the same answer for every question like this. You can't get a Sprint phone on VZW's network or the other way around. They won't do it for you and the only way to get it to work is illegal.

You actually can. Its just very very very very very very difficult. It involves knowing dan Hesse. Sprint CEO. And a blow j. In all seriousness not likely possible. Go for the epic.

OK cool, thanks man, I was real sceptical when I read a thread on here about unlocking and using the fascinate on any carrier, but if the carriers own the air waves and they won't connect it to there network then its obviously not even possible.

There is even a website selling codes for the fascinate to work on any network, what a rip off

So now, since I ended my contract early is there any way for anyone to use this phone if I sell it or is it a $150 paper weight now?

Idk bout the epic but I gift the evo, seems to be alot better on video but display isn't nearly as vibrant as the fascinate, all well.

you can sell it on ebay as a 'bad ESN Galaxy S samsung fascinate'.. lots of people will be interested. I'm sure you'll make good money on it. It will sell for a high dollar and fast. seriously.

If u cancelled properly it wont be a bad ESN

why everyone on this threat speak negative?? yes you can switch the samsung fascinate to sprint and very easy if you have CW.
to switch to sprint is easy but the hard part is getting the internet and pics to work

N1 now coming to sprint

http://newsreleases.sprint.com/phoe...ol-newsArticle_newsroom&ID=1403426&highlight=
Damnit... now I'm tempted to leave T-mobile. Might be selling a second N1 soon, lol. Can Sprint customers get OTA updates yet?
Thank god for the N1 not being tied to a carrier... In the past you might not have gone with a carrier better for your situation because they didn't have a great phone. I didn't go with Sprint since the "best" phone they had for me was a outdated version of the PalmPre but now the N1 closes all the gaps between carriers and allows anyone to have an amazing phone on any carrier.

Likewise... the only reason I decided to stay with T-mo was because of the N1, and I didn't want to pay $35 more a month to switch to VZW. Now with it coming out on Sprint, it could mean I'd have incentive to switch even with the T-mo ETF.
This gets me excited...Now when will it be released is the question...?...And will this phone gain popularity like the iPhone..?

I believe the Verizon and sprint launch will happen at the same time.
Personally, from my experience, Sprint has the worst customer service out there.
I'm happy w/ my tmobile nexus 1.
N1 available for any carrier so that all can be with coverage/pricing plan they prefer? Brilliant.

things have changed in recent months/past couple years. I joined the sprint scene in august with the palm pre, and then returned it when the hero was announced and waited the 1.5 months till i could buy it.
ive had my own instances of being involved with customer service, and 9/10 times I really feel like sprint CSR's went the distance at least to make me feel valued. there is one instance where they didnt, but thats about contract dates, and all 4 major carriers are sticklers about that.
do some research on it for the latest reviews on sprint customer support.
back on topic, true story, this user will definitely be one of the first customers for the nexus one on sprint.
This is very exciting news. Development for the Nexus will be strong for a long time to come.

As someone else already said... times have changed at Sprint. AT&T has the worse customer service, followed by VZW... T-mo and Sprint are the best when it comes to customer service. I guess the bottom two have to have something go for them, lol...

Wonderful news. I'll be the first to ditch my Sprint Hero for the Nexus One. I am beyond tired of HTC and their antics. A Google supported phone makes me much happier.
Bring it on.
Will they finally stop being dickfaces and allow someone to activate on a Sero plan ?
Thats the only way Id recommend Sprint to anyone. I admit there cellular service is fantastic !...but there customer care left a bad taste in my mouth.

is this true at all?

i want to upgrade to the N1 when it hits sprint, i hope soon?
anyways im hearing the phone itself won't be in sprint stores and you cannot get it serviced at sprint either. you have to buy it online from google and send it in for repairs, is this true? if soo i smell a BIG fail coming. will the phone even be branded with a sprint logo at all?
Why is this posted in the HERO forum?
That sounds consistent with how the N1 has been sold so far, as far as I know.

Well that has been their trend so far with the other carriers, so it's very possible, but it's kind of to early to tell art this point
That's Google's new method--buy from google.com/phone and don't worry about anything else.
Who cares if it's Sprint branded? As long as it's considered an upgrade you'll get your nice price.

Well, the problem is that since you bought it from google.com, when you have problems and call Sprint for help, they can say "You have to call Google."
Of course, Google doesn't seem to have any publicly available phone numbers for you to call, so you're stuck with their worthless message boards...
Plus, if the actual hardware craps out, you can't walk into a Sprint store and get it replaced the same afternoon, you have to deal with shipping in two directions and be without a phone for a week....
Or at least that seems to be the major complaint about the N1 currently on the market....
just wait for the evo 4g, its got better specs then the nexus and a bigger screen,
No, just wait even more, pre 2011, dual core Snapdragon 1.5ghz phones running android will be out. If you buy the Evo, you'll wish you had waited lol

Hang on to your hero then. I still have every phone in my sig as a backup. I'm glad that google is doing SOMETHING to shake up the status quo a bit. Remember if you buy phones that are sold and supported by sprint, you'll have to wait on sprint for things like android 2.1, just like we're doing now. If google is able to get sprint (and other us carriers) to budge from their traditional phone-tied-to-carrier model, it'll just put us one step closer to breaking the wireless phone oligopoly.
Many years ago, you had to buy your land line telephones from your land line provider. They were sold and supported there, and they had very high costs. Then over time, that changed and people bought phones that weren't branded by their carrier. (or supported by them either, omg!). I'm sure it was a very scary time, but think about how ridiculous that sounds today.

I would try and stay local man, if you can't drive to get it don't do it. No offense to anyone but I don't trust anyone on the internet and they shouldn't trust you.
As for activation, I was told that having CM on the phone can sometimes cause issues updating the PRL for the switch so you might have to odin it back to stock or flash a different ROM. I went to stock because I was worried about having it on a leaked build. However, with that said, the Evo I got was running a rom with a very custom boot animation (Fresh) and the rep mentioned how cool it looked and asked how he could get that.
yes.. I would stay local... for both party's saftey.
you can call it in to get it activated...
or you can do it online.. by creating an account with sprint.
from what I know.. I dont see why it would matter what ROM you might have on an EVO. the ESN is all that the carrier needs.

[Q] Well Sprint is giving me the boot!

Sprint notified me via letter today that I would no longer have service after the 5th of July. I moved out of Sprint's service area around September of last year and knew this was coming eventually. I am actually shocked it took so long .
As sad as I am to leave Sprint and my Evo; I must move forward!
That being said, what phones are on the horizon? I will probably switch to Verizon because they still have unlimited data. I'm not adverse to prepaid as those services have come a long way in the last few years.
I am liking the Thunderbolt, as it is the most similar to our Evos.

As soon as Verizon finds out ur flashed to their network on a non vzw phone you will be booted and charged the price of the full 2 year contract, don't pay it and it goes to collections and on your credit, vzw doesn't like non carrier approved phones at all so good luck

What are your reasons for running on verizon? You can always use the 00001 prl, which will let you talk/text/3g on verizon. As long as you dont use it a whole lot (about 50% per month) you shouldnt get caught from sprint.

I've done, bunch of people have done, and a bunch more will do it....
You actually bought a phone from verizon, you own both phones, chances of they getting you is 1 in one million.
People come out with the dogs not knowing exactly the rules of stealing/cloning/swapping.
If you swap esn/meid your phone become the donors phone bottom line that's what they will see.
if you wanna know how to do it, pm. I dont charge a penny, to whoever want to learn. this applys to
most phones.
If you search around you will see a tons of guides/how to on how to flash to cricket/metropcs/virgin and etc...
anyway people are using one's phone carrier on another.
Iphone or any gsm phone, they are exclusive for specific carriers. though people jailbreak or unlock to use
in another carrier.
they been doing this since mmmmm since mmmm?? well a very long time ...lol
I mean knowledge ahead, doing or not is totally up to you.
I can guarantee voice/text will work, now regarding data maybe, I've seem people with data and other not or struggling with 1x.
PS
everybody know that pulling the trigger can kill, however most people are not willing to do so. You decide your will.
Thanks for the helpful info, but i am going to flash my phone over to verizon anyway. I already bought the donor phone and paid for the month of service so there's no turning back now I'm having a few issues so so help would be excellent from the poster above. If you could shoot me a pm it would be much appreciated!
