we will have to wait and see. there is no reason to not give us 2.2. if they don't i still think they dropped the ball with this phone. guess it doesn't matter, ill be upgrading next month anyways. just thought id share this in case it does mean something.

Hey guys! Every android phone is getting 2.2 exept the hero. But don't worry.... we'll give you an updated 2.1 that fixes sprint TV and NFL mobile....... The crowd goes wild!
If they really are only releasing an updated 2.1 then they really are major a-holes.

i agree, we do not need a 2.1 update when almost every other phone gets 2.2. who knows maybe they will surprise us with froyo.

Honestly, I really don't care much about another update for the hero. We seem to be doing just fine on our own lol.

Yeah, I'm hearing the Droid would be able to run it, but with minimum requirements. I also heard about dual core Android phones. Who knows what Android has in store for us..

Not true. We would need a Legend/Aria/MT3G Slide 2.2 ROM to port it over. IIRC, the Desire has an ARMv7 processor while the Hero has an ARMv6 processor

The wildfire will net get flash 10 due to the old proccesser
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Adobe flash 10.1 for android works only with ARM v7 processor and wildfire runs on v6 .

Virgin media said early September...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
yeah ive seen that but mine is unlocked version its not virgin. so is it still the same date?
wildfire will not have froyo update. said on the site gizmodo
Yes it will have it.
Look at the Wildfire specification on China HTC site. I can't attach links to other pages.
HTC Spain confirm that we will have 2.2 update late september.
gizmodo are just fags! they are probably apple spys! Oo
WE WILL HAVE FROYO! or ill prosecute google for being ignorent
But i read that Hero can handle Flash 10.1 and it has ARM v6 too
Froyo without flash it's ok for me..
Apps to sd by native and more speed (by 4-5 times) are more important for me.
I agree completly with that.
I realy hope that we will get froyo during the following 10 days...
So, your opinion about
Will Android 2.3 be announced for the HTC Legend?
So. I ask the question and got the answer
from: HTC <[email protected]>
to: me
Yes, from time to time the software is being updated, and it will continue in the future. Unfortunetely now we can not say exact date of next update.

I'm willing to bet it won't happen. Why would HTC release a brand new iteration of the Android OS on older hardware? They've got very little to gain from doing so.
I used to think that it'll never happen, but with the announcement of the HTC Salsa, the facebook phone with the same specs of the Legend but with android 2.3 inside, now I hope that HTC make arrangements to adapt that version of HTC sense to the legends, maybe without the facebook things
That is my only hope against a company that make new phones so often. U.u

If anything it'll just make 2.3 Sense based ROMs easier to create for the Legend, really. I doubt much else will come of it.

I hope you know same "specs" in marketing materials probably means the hardware is way different and that someone would actually have to write drivers for 2.3 and Legend hardware...not gonna happen IMHO, not by hands of HTC anyway...

If I can overlook it, so can you.
For the record, it should be this:
Will Android 2.3 be announced for the HTC Legend?
Just imagine Yoda's voice when you read the original phrasing, and it's all good.
On topic: Looking forward to official 2.3 tomorrow!
Not even Yoda would say it like that
TGF: You're right about the title, what I meant was: "No, you're crazy?" Which for the record should be: "No, are you crazy?"
But don't mind me, I just felt in the mood
I think there will not be an 2.3 update
but i hope it will be
so. the only difference between newer HTC phones in the class the same like a Legend - it's ONLY RAM. Thats all.
Next point. Dev's guys from Google sais that the phone with official working (announced) of Android 2.2 phone FULLY will support Android 2.3, coz there is no hardware requirements MORE than in the FroYo. So...i feel this smell.. you no? We have all possibility for this... We can get it.
Why not? Maybe this process will be in a few times more than for Desire-like phones (1st gen.) But it CAN be. I'm a mistaken? Where?

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
With any luck we will follow suit, but don't think it will happen anytime soon. From what I understand, we still need to have the latest kernal source to get it working correctly. The desire port still has quite a bit wrong with it....but we all can hope...
It will come sooner or later. Don't expect much from it though. Faux said it would be pretty damn bastardised. Different cameras... different everything.

rafyvitto over at android-maisters has it booting, and a few things working for the MT4G, but there are still a lot of bugs atm... he will not release it till it is more functional so dont go over there and start bugging him about it, as he is a very good dev doing great things for our phone via his forumand maybe he will be allowed back to xda one day
The thunderbolt has one going too...
well the HD2 has the most functional version as of yet...
I been building this for thunderbolt to help r2 get it going... With out the proper libs and kernel good luck..
The reason DHD has is running so well is the ruu leak from there 2.3.3 update. With out that all other devices are pretty much screwed

The device Is very capable of handling ics just like nexus s.. I think its all revenue. Be it so your better off rooting and flashing ported ics Rom.and I think Febycv is doing a wonderful job.y Yes a lot of people are excited about ics. Its the latest android development release. Agree that its capable of running it. Can you imagine what ICS mysense will look like though?
Its a pity, the myTouch 4G seems to be even more capable than the Nexus S because of the 50% more memory... I myself am looking to switch from a Galaxy S series phone to the myTouch 4G because of the crazy amount of swapping going on because of the small amount of RAM...
The myTouch 4G is basically an HTC Sensation without the 2nd core, but with dual core mattering so little at the moment, it really does suck that the myTouch won't get an official update...

Yea, HTC will take FOREVER if they do make an ICS update for this phone...
plus it'll be mysense too, so you're better off flashing a port. mysense is so bad IMO. I think sense is bad period.
Highly doubt it
