I used odin, flashed succesfully the stock file system, the kernel, the recovery, and when it boots, it passes the verizon logo, then it goes black, and nothing, the softkeys light up if I press them but all is dark, like my luck, help please!!!

how long is it screen "dark" have you waited to see if the system boots if you give it time
whenever you flash a new rom it can take several minutes for the 1st Boot because of all the script working in the background (at least that is how i understand it sorry not a dev.)
just try giving the phone some time to boot and if that does not work let me know i will try to help the best i can but it does not sound like a bricked phone to me (however i have never bricked my phone, even with all the roms and flashes i have done over the last 2 years)
Not entirely relevant to this post, but just a heads up: this belongs in the General subforum.
The clutter has been pretty damn bad in our dev section, and it's really damaging this forums appeal with our hard working devs. Hope you get this problem sorted out though.

Let me guess.. you installed an app that lets you alter the brightness of your phone...
you turned it down and now this is all happening.
if so, please look in the general forum for another 20 posts about the same thing and how to fix.

looks like someone might owe his daddy a new phone.
Get ready for a spanking.
If my dad were still alive he would probably murder me if I ever bricked his new 200 dollar phone.
Just kidding. I hope you get it working bro. If not, try to exchange it. Say you don't know what happened to it, you turned it off and let it charge overnight and when you woke up to turn it on, this happened. Have tears in your eyes. They'll exchange it for you

I agree with this. If you dad goes in, T-mo won't think "This old dude must have hacked it!" They'll exchange it right away and even apologize to him.

have you tried to manually remove the partition and see if it boots? or try to boot without the sdcard?
what I did was flash Eugenes Froyo rom which worked well, then I re-flashed the stock rom. Now it works just like before.

could u explain to me how to do that..i would appreciate it..cuz i kind of think it has to be a problem with partitions..also another thing i noticed is when the phone reboots and goes into recovery in red letters data wipe says fail..i have also tried both pit files 512 and 513..evrything thing works gets past boot screens but the screen doesnt come on
Ok, so I was playing around with the new Root Tools app and made a few, what I thought were safe, tweeks to the system and rebooted the phone. It gets past the M screen, runs the boot animation and then starts the boot animation again. No way out except to pull the battery.
How can I get it out of this endless bootloop? If I have to factory reset and start again from scratch, so be it. I would just like to know how.
I've tried holding down different button combinations on boot but haven't come up with the right sequence I guess.
I've also tried pulling the battery as the animation starts, then putting it back in and rebooting which is supposed to call up the recovery mode, but it doesn't. I'm not sure what to try next? I wish these things had a reset button
It's a Droid 2 Rooted with the stock rom running Froyo 2.2. I have the Bootstrap recovery loaded and did a backup with the clockwork recovery. I also have, and use, Titanium Backup Pro for Root.
After bootlooping pull the battery and put it back in. Then plug the droid 2 in with the cable either wall or USB will work. Then turn it on and it should get you recovery. The phone has to be completely off when you plug it in though.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
EDIT: I tested it and USB won't work (at least for me) better off just using the wall plug.
Thanks, but that not working either. When I plug in the cable after the battery pull it starts up automatically and goes to the battery charge screen. I then shut it off and start it back up with no battery but plugged in and it goes right back into the boot loop after the M screen.
The batter charge screen is what you want. Just press the power button after you get the charge screen and you'll be booted into clockwork.
But in order to factory reset from a bootloop you have to flash an .sbf theres a few different tutorials. One in Windows, Another in linux/mac, and another in linux but for windows machines through an Ubuntu livecd(that I made).
Oh, OK I thought it was going to go right into recovery mode. Good to know.
I finally figured out how to get into the stock recovery and bootloader, so I tried to run the stock restore but after it wiped the data, it couldn't find the recovery file! So then I read in another post about using RSDlight 4.9 to do an sdf restore so I used that method. Of course while it was flashing I did come across your Ubuntu method and that does look like it would be a simpler process. I'm going make one of those CD's to have for next time.
Anyway, I was able to get it back to stock. It looks like most of my stuff is still on the SD card, so that's a bonus! I'll have to re-root before I can restore everything via Titanium, but that's going to be tomorrow's project. As for now just happy to to have my phone back. Especially before the wife (who has been telling me for weeks to stop F'in with it) found out .
I really appreciate that you took the time to help, thanks again!

Ok, thanks
hi everyone,
I am actually a long time custom ROM flasher started since Desire days, but registered recently because of this problem I have with the Tab 10.1 Wifi.
Despite me trying everything I can think of, I couldn't flash any other ROMs now, including GalaxyTask, Overcome, AOKP CM9, except the stock Honeycomb sans TouchWiz ROM, and of course PhantomTask. I am pretty sure PhantomTask is the last ROM I've flashed until this problem comes up.
I have made sure that I have done a full clean wipe every time before I flash any of them, wipe data -> cache -> dalvik cache, I even format /system partition, but still none of them works. They always get stuck at boot screen, unless the either one of the two ROMs I've mentioned, stock or PhantomTask.
I am sure that my downloads are complete too, as I've checked MD5 for each of them.
So I really don't know what to do now, any ideas?
I'd really want to test out AOKP
Define stuck. It's not uncommon to have to sit for 5 or even 10 minutes at that first boot. How long have you waited?

Wrong section pal. Might want to post in Task's thread.

Just wait. It sometimes takes 15 minutes or so for my tab to boot up the first time.
thanks for the reply
It gets stuck at the Samsung Tab logo, and not proceed to the boot animation. I've tried waiting up to 30 minutes or more at one point, just leaving it there and do my own things. Though after that one time I'm not sure I've waiting that long.
I'll try again tonight and see how it goes.
@hbkmog I would have posted at Task thread if I could.
Have you tried with a newer version of ClockworkMod? Perhaps this one: ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7
thanks Maple Syrup, I have flashed that recovery yesterday, and I've tried flashing CM9 after that. I left it overnight to boot, it still didn't boot pass the logo, and the battery drained out.
I'll give it another try later.
ok I've tried everything I can, and still can't get this to work.
Then finally I've decided to try to unroot and restore everything to stock.
I've followed each and every step of this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971
After everything is done, Odin is showing the pass sign, according to the video its suppose to reboot into Android, but weirdly its stuck at a black screen. So I unplugged it from the PC rebooted it by holding down power button. But now its stuck at the boot logo, and won't proceed, its been more than 10 mins.
I am still able to boot into download mode, but when I boot into recovery wanting to do a factory reset, it shows a black screen and nothing else.
any idea what's going on?

Thank you! As I seem to be saying a lot lately, it's success posts like this that keep us trying to help in the first place. Makes us feel good to know we helped.
Sorry again for the rude first post. I think I was extra grumpy that day. Probably from some ungrateful user asking for help and then getting rude that the suggestion(s) didn't help them exactly like they wanted or even some days not fast enough for them. Funny how sometimes people trying to help have things to do other than sit and work on someones problem 24/7. not directed towards you.
Glad to hear you got it going.

Hey guys, I was running slim bean build 5. Went to update to build 6, followed the directions and now when I try to power on my phone, it vibrates about once every few seconds and the screen remains black. I cannot boot to my recovery, I tried to flash the stock ROM with Odin, it says its successful but the problem persists. Please help me! Did I hard brick it??

If you can boot, you can get to recovery. Hold down Power and Volume up until it reboots. release power and hold volume up until it gets past the blue "booting recovery" and then some more until recovery comes up. Then restore your nandroid that you made before this started.

When I do that there is nothing on my screen. It just keeps vibrating every few seconds. The only thing I have been able to get to show up on the screen is the "Downloading" green android bot.

As my OP states, I have flashed the stock firmware with Odin (3x now). The progress bar finishes and it reboots but the screen just remains black and it vibrates. I did do a manual format in TWRP as the Slim Bean changelog states I should have done. I am freaking out If I bring it back to the store (its less than 30 days old) will they deny me a replacement? I can't see how they could tell I did anything to it if I just say "IDK what happened it just stopped working."
EDIT: I flashed both Slim Bean Build 6 and their Addon pack at the same time.

You have to do a factory reset from your recovery, but getting into the recovery is all about timing. Pull the battery, put battery back in, hold power, home and volume up until it vibrates, as soon as you feel vibration, let go of power only... Then if you get into recovery, do a factory reset and reboot

The employees at your local store won't have a clue or would even try to figure out the issue. Where the phone gets sent to for repair is a different story. I'm pretty sure those guys can tell the difference between a rooted phone and one that's not.
Thanks took it back and got another. The guys there were clueless trying to get into recovery and it wouldent work. Any one have this happen to them you have 14 days from purchased date. If your over the 14 day then im sorry to tell you that your phone could be stuck that way unless you send it out to get it fixed. Samsung will not help you with warrenty on this.

Well, I went back to best buy, tried to play it off like IDK what happend. Guy saw right through me and said "it looks like the phone was damaged while rooting" I admitted to it. Luckily he said Geek Squad Protection covers rooting errors. Because I was within 30 days of purchase, he let me sign up for it. So now I have to wait a week and make a claim for a new phone.

Wait 15 Minutes
This is a known problem, wait about 5-10 minutes. I know it is scary for it hang for that long.
If it doesn't go into recovery on it's own after 10 minutes turn the phone off. Sometimes it gets stuck on the Touchscreen update screen Charge it if necessary.
Start it by holding the volume down and power to boot into recovery. It may take a long time.
Flash a 4.1 based version of Color Rom to get the correct modem back. This is why the WIFI wasn't working.
Reboot into recovery and flash Cyanogenmod WIFI should be working.
Thank you for your help! It worked, but I had to flash Color Rom 3305G, 3333L didn't work.
Glad to help
