hey guys!
first i'd like to say i'm really enjoying having froyo on my hd2, imo much better than windows 6.5
now, one of my main problems is not being able to see files transferred from my pc to my phone, stuff like vids and photos.
i wanted to transfer my old camera photos taken from wm6.5 into froyo, but when i transfer it from the pc through usb connection to the phone, it doesn't show up in the file manager or gallery.
i think it's not just photos and vids, file changes in the phone don't reflect on the pc either.
anyone have the same problems?
thanks in advance!
i've found an alternative i guess..
instead of using the USB cable for data transfer, i just used an external card reader. it's a bit of an inconvenience but what else can i do
Use dropbox or similar, or use another build
Having the same problem with htcclays superhd2 build, was not a problem with mattc 1,8

Hi all.
I got an Experia X10i and just a few days ago i got a message that there was an update available.
I agreed to download/update and everything was fine.
But since yesterday my pictures deletes itself?!
All my pictures in /sdcard/DCIM/100ANDRO were visible and i scrolled and viewed some of them at work last night.
But today - only my 4 latest (taken last night) pictures were there (also visible in mediascape)
I did a restart and now those four are gone to!!
Download-folder and music-folder are still intact and the phone works like a charm besides it deleting my pictures.
I got a swedish X10i
1.6
1.1.27
Kernel version 2.6.29-rel [email protected] #2
Please can anyone help me with this problem?
Why are my files getting deleted?
thanx in advance
Jonny Westin
Update:
While typing here via PC my /sdcard/video is deleting itself and also files in the two subfolders.
Can the .nomedia-file cause deletion of files?
In the video-folder i got one of those - but not in the DCIM-folder.
are any syncing software which copies files to pc and deletes it from sd?
or any upload service like picasa/facebook which setting to delete file from sd after the upload
Didn't even think of that...
But that was not the case.
Nothing has been uploaded to Facebook and I got no picasa-account. And nothing uploaded to Google Docs.
Didn't connect to PC until just now so sync is not the case either.
I'm really confused?!
No status-indication whatsoever that anything has been uploaded.
I even installed an anti-virusapp but everything was ok.
Edit Even did a virus check via my PC at work - but all is ok in that matter.
Connected to usb to browse via PC but no files found in my DCIM except those thumbdata-files..

However - i still love my stupid, stupid phone - but wise from experience i now know that I can't keep files on my phone.
Will have to get it as a part of my day to backup photos.
There was some houndred pics of my kids that now is lost.
Stupid stupid me who didn't make a backup!!
Useles piece of crap-phone.
(but it is still a lovely toy)
Well thanks for your reply.
I will however try to mount the sdcard in windows and try some undelete-apps.
What can be reason of it? I've not faced such issue but still scared now :-/
Yes, .nomedia will delete files...
it's a stupid bug if not used properly... if you added a .nomedia file after updating your device, any old files will be deleted when the media scanner re-searches the device, and anything added after the .nomedia file was added will be safe.

Mind you, while there are issues with .nomedia, this might not necessarily be your issue.
Edit:
BTW - if you are going to try to recover files, you'll need a proper file recovery program (like BadCopy Pro) - you won't be able to undelete stuff like you normally would using your recycle bin... Of course, you probably already know this, but others reading the thread might not...
With the release of Honeycomb, a stack of tablets are coming onto the market; some of which have a USB Host port. This creates a range of possible new uses for these tablets (one of which is the ability to copy photos off an SD card and onto the tablet).
Here's the scenario. You're going away and just want to take your tablet with you. You plan on taking lots of photos with your camera and want to be able to offload them onto your tablet in order to free up space on your SD card. Using the USB port, you can connect the card to the tablet (using a card reader or something similiar) but there is not an app out there capable of allowing you to easily transfer these photos onto the tablet.
I've tried using astro and it is far more complicated than it needs to be.
I'd love to see an app that can recognise the DCIM directory on an SD card, allow you to select which photos you want to copy, and ask you where on the tablet to save them. A simple, yet extremely powerful app!
Anyone interested in developing it?
i recently rooted my X with a liberty rom, and since doing all my pictures thru gallery have been lost. My downloaded pics can still be seen via astro, but all of my camera pics are gone. Thought maybe the rom was at fault so flashed a liquid rom and the problem still exists. Anything i can do to recover my lost pictures?
thanks
Your camera pictures should be stored on the sd card under the folder DCIM. Flashing a ROM usually doesn't touch the sd card, but I always plan for the worst when making any major changes. For future reference a good way to backup all your pictures is the sugarsync app. It syncs all your new photos automatically to your sugarsync account.
So for a few days now I've been using the wireless storage function on my G2 to transfer pictures over to my computer. It's usually around 150-200 photos. I use I.E. to browse my wireless storage files, however, there is always one picture missing within the folder, but I can still see the picture on my phone. And I'm not talking about after I transfer my photos over to my computer, I'm talking about inside the network drive (\\192.168.0.XX). I'll attach a few pictures so you can better understand. I've tried to Google the problem, but I've had no success. . This is not a huge problem, it's just annoying when I need to have all of the pictures for sure and then I have to do a man hunt to find out which one is gone. Thanks, all help is much appreciated.
Is it really missing or just miscalculate?
Next time, try to transfer 10 images and see if one missing or not.

Nothing is being transferred. Like I said, it's in the G2 network drive where the photo is missing. Look in the photo I uploaded that's showing the 265 photos being selected, nothing was transferred prior to that screen-grab
EDIT - Also notice the network map in the first photo (\\192.168.0.10\g2\sdcard0\DCIM\100LGDSC)
Hi guys.
I have just got a new nexus 6p and intend on passing my current one on to my wife.
I have inserted the official USB cable in and Hooke up to my pc like I have done many times before to pull off my camera folder which is around 14gb
However it is showing as around 1gb once downloaded and a real random selecteion of pictures.
I used airdriod and could see the full 14gb folder and all its contents. However due to the size it bombs out every time when I try the zip file download.
So first off anyone know why the device is showing 10% of my pics and video ?
And any other ways I can get these files off ?
It's all backed up on Google photos but I like having it offline on my device.
do you use airdroid premium? if not, they limit file transfers, so thats most likely the issue there.
try using android file transfer app, see if you get different results.

Don't know how to fix it, but you can just download everything from the Photos site to your computer.
