my sd card is kingston sdc4\8gb formatted as FAT32
i did almost averything but still cannot flash ROMs from it
any idea?
What's the error?
Are you certain you renamed the .nbh file to topaimg.nbh?
Very easy:
- Download the rom you want.
- Rename the rom file to topaimg.nbh
- Copy this file to the root of the card
- Press the 2 up/down volume buttons (on the side of the phone) and softreset.
- Once you see the coloured screen release the buttons

I have the exact same microSD card C4/8GB Kingston formatted FAT32 on a HTC Pure. Can't use it to flash. Something must be wrong with this card.

I am using xda1 and would like to upgrade it to WM2003 (T-mobile CE Rom). However, after I wrote the ROM (NK.nbf) to my 128M SD card through a SD card read/writer by XDA OSImage Tool, I pressed the power button together with soft reset to the bootloading mode and put the SD card into my xda, nothing happen. It does not check the new rom, why?
You have to insert the SD-Card BEFORE you go into Bootloader-Mode.
Greetings, Kaputter
I also tried that, I input the SD card first and pressed to the wallaby bootloader mode (v5.15).
What it showed was just the "white/red/green/blue" page and checked GSM ok. Any other button I have to pressed?
Chris it means that the card has not been written to properly I think, try writing the file again, if you put it in your xda without going into bootloader, it should offer to format the card for you, just say no to the question then try again, if it doesnt offer to format the card it means the file has not been written correctly.
Yeah, you are right.
When I inserted the card (that I think written with the NK.nbf) in the card reader/writer, it didn't ask me to format the card. When I open the explorer for that drive, I saw the nbf file there.
I tried to write the file several times and same results.
Let me explore my case a bit. I used the XDA OSimage tool and for the Source, I chose the file (NK.nbf that contains the T-mobile 4.01.00 downloaded from other thread in this forum) in my computer (WIN2000) and for the destination, I chose the G:NK.nbf.
Any thoughts?
You need to choose destination from the drop down box, it should show your card reader there, then it will work.

That's your problem right there.
You can't just do a windows/dos 'file copy' to write the ROM image to the SD card. You need to use XDAtools or its predecessor XDArit to copy a raw ROM image to the card. The difference is that the card must ONLY have the Rom image and not the FAT, etc information that gets added in when the card is formatted.
This is why under the correct circumstances the XDA gets confused when you first stick the card in - it sees a card that isn't formatted so it offers to format it so the card can be written to.
The bootloader method is IMO the best way to upgrade the ROM. Read up some more on XDAtools and how it can be used to write the ROM image to the SD card.
But I did use the OSImage Tool already. For the source, I choose the NK.nbf file from my PC and I choose the SD card drive for the destination.
But the actual problem seems solved for me. The actual reason for upgrading to WM2003 for me is to view and edit the office attachment whenever received from my e-mail. In the past, I can't read the word or excel document without activesync the files. Now, by using an add-in software, I can.
Thanks very much to everybody.
I tried over and over to flash using a Patriot brand SD Card that belongs to to the "jump" drive I keep on my key chain. I keep all of my dump files on this thing.
It would never work, it would just immediately say "serial" at the bottom. I can copy files to and from it no problem but the Xperia would not recognize it during the color bar screen.
So, I put my original Sony card back in for the hell of it, dumped the file on it and gave it a go.......
It went immediately!
WOOHOO!!!!

Was this card FAT32 formatted?
how to upgrade herald via sd card?(sd card flashing)
thanks
1. There is already a walkthrough that I myself created. Please search.
2. This subforum is for posting on MAKING ROMs. There is another forum for help.
i found this and i post here
format sd card to fat32
copy *.nbh file to root of sd card and rename it to HERAIMG.NBH
make sure battery charge more than 50%
press and hold camera button then press reset via stylus(or remove battery hold camera button and place battery again) and device will be flash with SD Card.
thats all.
i am unable to do this..my device takes me to bootloader screen. what do to?
So you're saying you formatted the memory card to FAT32, renamed the file to HERAIMG.nbh and put it on the card, then put it in the phone, and WHILE THE PHONE IS ON pressed and held the camera button and then soft resetted the phone with the stylus, HOLDING THE CAMERA BUTTON the whole time?
If ^that^ doesn't work, then either you're using a SDHC, which is not compatible, or your card is not fast enough.

These are two things you should really know before messing around with your phone and potentially bricking it.
There are many guides on how to format on google (it depends on your computer's Operating System). There are many guides on what FAT32 is on google, as well.
As far as where is the nbh file. It's THE ROM that you downloaded.
Knowledge is the best way to safeguard your phone from any damage.
Hope that was helpful. ^_^
Something that you might have missed...
I too was having issues of the phone going into the bootloader. Now if you follow the instructions to the letter it does work. However, if you think that my SD Card is already formatted to FAT32 and I have a bunch of space left. Then it wont work! It SEEMS you have to have nothing but the nhb file on the SD Card. That is reformat the SD Card then put the file on, and you'll be sweet!
Hi, how do i put original stock rom into diamond 2 when im going to send my phone to repair, because of faulty usb-pc connection. Is there any way? because i cant send it with cooked ROM
Use SD card. Take a card less than 8GB. Format it to FAT32. Copy ruu_signed.nbh to card and rename it to topaimg.nbh. Put phone in boot loader and follow instructions.

If you name it topaimg.nbh it probably won't flash.
Has to be TOPAIMG.nbh
It doesn't matter, you can use both, small or capital letters. It worked for me in both ways.
Good to know. I have heard of it failing if it is not exact.
I partitioned my SD Card to use the Apps2sd built in the Fresh 2.0d ROM. It is working BUT it SLOWED down my phone. LWP and transitions are chopppy. I have my SD card backed up already. I want to undo what I did.
What steps do I take to undo the SD card partitioning using Apps2sd built in the Fresh 2.0d ROM and go back to just having the Fresh 2.0d rom with a standard SD card?

What class is your SD card? If it's a class 2, that's probably the issue.
Depending on the a2sd you're using you can tell it to move your apps back to internal storage. If you don't know, or your a2sd doesn't make sure you have a backup of your apps (or just reinstall whichever).
To undo it, just repartition your card, using 0 for everything and the 'rest' for FAT. Yes, this will wipe your SD card completely.
Reflash your ROM, then restore from backup (Titanium, for example).
yeah apps2sd only really works with a class 6 sd card, i mean to work flawlessly, i have a class 2 and a class 4 both name brands and sometimes my phone is still choppy, but my buddy has same cdma hero with class 6 and his is like crazy fast.
Still need help

How do I get the "rest" to FAT? It says remaining FAT32 and won't allow me to change it.
I follow these steps:
Boot into Android Recovery (RA-heroc-v1.6.2)
Choose Partition SD Card
Choose Partition SD
Press Home to confirm partition sdcard
Press Home to confirm 0MB swap size
Press Home to confirm 0MB ext2 size
Then it says
FAT32-size=remainder
Continue partitioning? Press Home to confirm or any other key to abort.
Since I can't change FAT32 to FAT I abort.
Is that correct?

yeah.. you are screwed!!!!
just kidding...
what what I have read.. you will need to use your SDK tool, which you used to root your phone. you will have to find the instruction to "push" the zip file to your sd card. then you can use recovery to load the ROM.
also.. maybe... just a guess....
take the SD card out.. use it in your computer and a SDcard reader. Copy the zip file to your SDcard. put it back in the phone. Try Recovery again.
not sure if this will work.

I told you in the first place it would wipe your SD card. You mentioned you had a backup I believe. So put the ROM back on the card and go from there.

Or just plug the phone in with your USB cable and transfer the ROM that way.

You're very quick to respond! After I wiped my card (which I knew would happen but just had an initial freakout) I turned off my phone and reloaded my files back to it, booted into recovery, wiped and reflashed. Good to go! Thanks for your help.
