Ok i have android installed on my htc hd2 but when im using android , i have no clue how to install cabs or folders to make it show up on my htc hd2, example when using windows i just download cab and install on my sdcard and just click to install then softreset and its their but on android i dont know how to do it, ive dowloaded new clocks for android and put the folder on the sdcard but thats as far as i can get
Install Astro file manager from the market > browse to the folder with the .apk file > click .apk file to install.
syncing Files on Android only works in one direction: Android > PC
Because "SD Card" on your PC != "SD Card" shown up in your Android, its another working folder..
You need to use Software like HTC Sync, Droid Explorer, Android Commander, ...
My opinion:
If you have Sense on your build (HTC sync works only on devices that uses Sense!):
Copy files to Android: Droid Explorer
Install apk to Android: HTC Sync (Through App Installer)
If you dont have Sense on your build:
Copy files to Android: Droid Explorer
Install apk to Android: Droid Explorer App Installer
when i download something i want the file is .nomedia does that help
maybe im downloading the wrong files do u have the thread where i can find downloads for android on htc hd2
Install this: http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/app-center
Then, everything you need could be found in that app center (Its like an advanced Android market)
If you want to install programs without Android market / AndroidPit you ned a .apk file! You can install .apk through Droid Explorer / HTC Sync

Hey, got me a xperia x10i today.
Iv been searching now for many houers on how to install programs on the phone but cant find it..... I want to install .apk files how do i get them into my phone etc?
Use an app called app installer
Store the .apk files onto your SD Card. Make sure to have this checked:
Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources
Use a file explorer program such as Astro (Find it in the market) and then navigate to the .apk file on your sdcard. Press on the file and it should start the installation process.
thanks m8's
Im deeply sry for my lack of intel, i now understand that u meen market on the phone
I'm running Hyperdroid V1.2 on my hd2 and I really miss the HTC_IME keyboard from my last rom. Thanks guys!
You need to find the apk file for it, just Google HTC_ime orGoogle mobilism you'll find it on there, then install it, go to keyboard settings activate it, go to new message press and hold in text box select input method and select HTC_ime

Doesn't need to be in a special place on the card, but Its helps to keep all your apk's in a folder for easy finding. Once you've copied the file to your card, you can use any file manager from the market to locate and install the apk. Don't know how much you know but .apk files are to Android what .cab files are to Windows mobile and .ipa files are to Iphone OS. Cheers.
Sounds simple enough thanks guys appreciate it!

What if you want to install it to /system/app? If you simply use a file manager to open the apk file won't it install to /cache?
To install to system do I simply adb push it or adb install it?
You can grab the keyboard you want out of/system/app from your old build and then put it into the androidapps folder of your new build and then reboot. Should work, please let me know though

Where does the market save the .apk files I download? In which folder?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
On HTC desire, I find market apk's in /sdcard/download/. Usually after a failed install, so I am guessing those files get deleted after install. Should be the same on HD2.
They used to be there in /sdcard/downloads, none of the latests builds I've used leave the APKs there tho, I used to be able to search this folder and install any apps stuck at 100% download or failed, but they dont go there anymore.
So dunno where they gioing now.
I cannot find em anywhere...I use the mdjs desire hd version 4.4 and i cannot find those files...

id love to know where they are!!!
i hate redownloading them each time i start a new build from scratch. UGH!! i have to find all those downloads again and updates.
use root explorer. open it up and you should be at the first dir, their is a folder called "data", tap it, now tap on a folder called "app". this should be all your market apps. tap and hold whatever app you want, choose copy and navagate back to first page and scrole down to your "sdcard", tap it and paste your app where-ever you want to copy it to. this is where i found my apps. hope that helps yall.
Let me see...

The apps mite be in a different location on your Android build, but on my build BlueTopia HD Beta 2 by cmylxgo, this is where they are, and they are the install program. Copy one to where-ever you want it then tap on it while still in root explorer, it should ask if you want to install, view or cancel. I've found that there is one thing bad about doing this, Market don't see them as being installed and won't tell you if there is an update for that program if there is one.
Hmmmm....I use the jdms 1.6.2 and the mdeejays revolution hd 1.2 but still cannot locate them anywhere...

They are saved in /data/system/app or /data/app
Use root explorer, it should be under /data/app. If you use ES file explorer, you will see an empty /data directory.
I'Ve installed JDMS 1.6.2 and found them in the same place as i said, they have the little green Android guy next to them. Those are the whole app. Tap on one and youll see, it'll ask if you want to install view or cancle. You have to use root explorer!
Another option is to use Titanium Backup from Market. It is free. You can back up your installation to your SD card and install again later or for a different Android build.
data/app/
data/app-private/
system/app/
if you have apps 2 sd, i dont recall the name of the folder.
what file browser are you useing? some wont show protected files.
All "apk" user installed end up in /data/app. system/app is just all the Android installed apk's for that build. data/app-private is normally empty. If you are just looking to save all the apps you have downloaded and installed, then you need to backup the "app" folder in the data folder. But remember this will not be visible unless you have root access.
Good work guys...thank you so much.

Copy my paid aps to my wife
Now I can copy my apps that I paid for and copy them to my wifes phone and now she has them too. Great way to make apps cheaper.

a good app you might want to look at then would be appmonster or appmonster pro. the free version will backup apps to SD card, restore apps from SD card, quick uninstall where as the pro version does multiple version backups, gives access to extended options like APP2SD, cache, permissions, scan SD card for install-files, batch install (i believe) & even shares app-links via Facebook, Twitter, eMail. i have created a little stock pile of about 1200 or so apk's in the past year or 2.
I know there are a ton of applications that do the same but i personally like this program & suggest it to a lot of ppl who own a android phone.

HEY GUYS
im using mdj's desire hd 4.6 rom and having issues view most online videos. I really wanna watch my futy on it but the sound works and screen stays blank. Help please
Sent from my HTC Desire HD2
i have a similar problem
I can't view any online flash videos either. But when I try the browser just completely shuts down. No force close message just shutdown. Core cell Rom
@ kev
You need to download an older version of flash and install it or download the newest version off the marketplace and install it, search and you'll find em.
@n33dy
Never encountered your problem before. As in the screen is blank as if it was in standby? Or does it keep on one particular frame of the video and not move, but sound keeps playing, and the device doesn't respond?
If it's the latter, it is that you've run out of RAM and need to free it up by either closing some apps, or you can soft reset your device.
Or you could just try a different rom and maybe you won't have the problem anymore.
yes make sure you have adobe flash player installed from the android market!
Iv got the latest version of flash on already...

I copied the system files into my root system folder... makesure superuser is granted to root explorer.
Step by step,
Open root explorer
Find your downloaded files and copy the files from the 'lib' folder.
goto your root folders and open the lib folder which is inside the system folder.
Paste the files there, this will replace the existing files.
Now go back to your downloaded files and copy the one form the etc folder.
Go back to root, system open etc and then paste that 1 file.
Reboot and it should be running now.

root Explorer to my marketplace does not exist.
You could also use DroidExplorer which lets you use your computer to copy/paste/modify the files on your HTC Android phone. Use Google search for DroidExplorer and download the program onto your computer. Then you should be able to change or move any file from your computer, SD card onto the phone. Just make sure to do any changes, save to computer, then copy/paste onto the phone to overwrite the original file.
DroidExplorer not working on my computers. : (
I found the root ekplorer.apk on google and I installed it and now everything works great. Thank you all for your help )
