I just got the official extended battery. Checked it with TBattery and it it coming up as a little over 2300 mAhs -- down 20% in over 3 hours.
Using:
Stock 3.14 Rom with 2.14 radio
Bangster 1.5
Hastrian 7.7 Kernal.
I was wondering if anyone had a fix or what battery life times you're getting from the extended.
I´m buying an extended battery too, and trying to find an Android rom suitable for it. Seems like we have to use hastarin 7.7 or michyprima´s r11 kernels, latest hastarin´s doesn´t give support to extended batteries (yet). That´s what I found so far. I´m looking for a good (and not so old) combo.
i have the 2300 mah battery and try to find desire rom
i cant fint a close to stock desire rom to work with extended 2300 battery....
Please post whatever info you learn here. I'll hopefully have my new-2-me Telstra HD2 with the extended battery in my hands by the end of the week. Picking an Android build will be one of the first things I do with it!

You could use a modified stock one that uses less resources, and maybe the 2.12.50.02_2 as people have been reporting it uses less battery.
Well, my experience is that the stock rom tends to be the most efficient as far a battery life goes. This is something I verified in many of the phones I've owned.
However, I've been a fan of the Core Cell ROM on my TP2 and these roms served me very well, but when I got my HD2 I found the battery life under the beautiful Core Cell roms to be really poor. for example: I would leave my HD2 on my night stand for 5 hours (with mail push off) and I would find it later at a 40-45% charge level. This was the constant pattern even after a couple of weeks of use.
Then, I tried the Elegancia ROM V3 and the battery life I had experienced with the stock T-Mobile rom came back. I have since upgraded to Elegancia version 4 and I have not regretted it... even though I sorely miss the Core Cell roms, their added eye candy and the extra 2 manila tabs it offers.
I did not try the Energy ROM on my HD2 because my experience with these ROMs on my TP2 indicated a not so good battery life with that device already.
Cheers;
A little help please. Currently running darkstone froyo with michyprimas kernal. Everything's fine but a little dated.
After a more current build with a stable kernal for extended battery. Everything i've tried either crashes or reboots due to battery.
Could somebody please point me in direction of a current build/kernal that works with extended battery.
Happy to frig about with wifi drivers etc but found searching was getting cluttered results and as it takes an hour to download, build and test each time hoped somebody would be kind enough to offer a workable solution.
If i stumble across any info will share!.
Thanks

I´m waiting for my extended battery I´ve just bought in Ebay, doing a little investigation of which kernel should work with this type of battery, found that there are at least two known kernels that support: hastarin 7.7 and michyprima r11. I´ve downloaded these three for testing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812465&highlight=extended
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026&highlight=Mdeejay+eVo+Sense
and

If you can test, please tell me how it was.
My ext batt will be in my hands in 15 days

hi chaps,
sorry for delay in replying. Have returned back to problem and am happy to report that MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.0_MDJ_S7.3HD works like a treat with extended battery.

It's usually the kernel not the build itself that support/doesn't support extended battery. You should read the change log for the kernels to see if extended battery support has been added. So before you change your builds, take a look at the changelogs for the kernels to make sure your extended battery is supported
Hello,
I'v tried 3 ROM's (gingeryoshi 1.2, froyo by lazlo(last one)) and different kernels but on 2.2.x or 2.3.x my G1 get battery drain really fast..
Now I'm using COS-DS 2.3.4 and the battery drain is lower (when the mobile is on "stand by" drains really lower.. But when I get a call (2.. or 3 minutes..) or use Camera, Internet.. etc it consume battery really fast. (From the 3 ROM's above the one that giveme best baterry life on 2.x.x was COS-DS).
When I use my mobile on 1.x (1.5... 1.6) android ROM the baterry last's better than in those 2.x.x ROMs.
So here is my question.. I need sugestions of ROMs and Kernels for battery saving (I use the mobile a lot).
Thx a lot
I
Anyone can helpe me?
you're going to have to find a rom that you like and then flash a undervolted kernel over it. im using cm7 magpie with an undervolted kernel and battery is good but not great. most roms don't have amazing battery life since they are for speed. the g1 never had great battery life anyway. if you want good battery get an extende battery off ebay.
Thx a lot, do u sugest any kernel to froyo by lazlo with undervloting settings?
The kernel that I'm using with FBL 5.2 is the [email protected] #145. I've tried many with that ROM but this one seem to be working great and I've gotten the best battery life from it. With the radio off, I get over 6-7 hours before it drains a percent or two. With the radio on and I'm stationary with a decent signal, I get only 1 percent drain per 1 1/2 hour when the radio is in standby.
I flashed the kernel after I setup the phone and most of the apps I use. I also flashed this kernel on my wife's G1 with SuperBler v4 and it made a huge difference also. Give it a try. Good luck.
Will a Froyo rom be more conservative regarding battery life than a gingerbread one in the G1?
depends on the rom
I am tempted by the extended battery as they can be found for about £30 now but it has been a while since I read anything about kernel support for the extended batteries. Anyone know which (if any) support extended batteries? Would be great if experience is first hand but that may be difficult to find...
Thanks for the help
Also once I have the info will create a list of ones in this post as a record.
This is basically what I came on here to ask as well - just installed the Hyperdroid NAND build, first time installing a NAND build. I'm using 2600mah battery and I'm not sure if this is supported with this build or not. All I really want is a fast stable build that supports my 2600mah battery. Any help is appreceated
I think it will be support with all ROM have Tytung kernel
Yep tytung R11 has support for the official extended battery, this makes it a good day
Its in the first few lines of the first post, I thought if any that would be the one.

Two days ago I installed Cyanogenmod SDSL4 on my GT540.
I knew that such ROM would drain more battery than stock ROMs, yet it's draining too much battery, a lot more than I was expecting: with stock ROMs my device would stay alive for more than 3 days without a recharge, while with this ROM it went off during both the nights passed since the installation!
Is it normal that with this mod battery life went down to ~30% of stock ROM?
I'd like to flash my device again with a ROM that drains less battery, what do you suggest? Would it be possible to quantify the average battery life for the different ROMs?
Also, from a technical point of view, why are some ROMs draining battery so much more quickly than others?

- it is normal that custom roms eat a lot more battery
-> you could try to calibrate the battery (app on market) might give you some extra life
- the most batteryfriendly is definitely 2.1 ROM (stock or modded, eg Eleganceswift) then 2.2 (very good ROM: utopia or superfastfroyo)
2.3.x is well known for the battery problems (on every ROM)
quantification ? well :
2.1 100 % "batterypoints" ~ 3 days
2.2 66 % "batterypoints" ~ 2 days
2.3 33 % "batterypoints" ~ 1 day only
- technical view : i think there are many facts but mostly the features of 2.2/2.3
Thanks for the answer.
I like this ROM, but it's not worth to me if the battery lasts this short.
I'll move back to 2.1 for now, but am planning to try 2.2 soon.
Looking at some 2.1 ROM posts I had the impression that they are better in everything with respect to the custom ROM (they say custom ROMs drain less battery, are more stable and have a few fixes). Is that true?
I want a 2.1 ROM with fastboot mode enabled (but I guses all of them have fastboot already).
Other than that I'm not sure about the differences between the several 2.1 custom ROMs: which one would you guys suggest (and why)?
Quarx black would be I think the Best. Modded kernel and theme
i dont think there is a post for this rom so i am uploading the rom and posting the link here
i will say that 2.2 and up is better then 2.1 but for battery life yes its best all newer phones like the htc sensation or galaxy sII can hold more then a full day
quarx black link:

Thanks for the suggestion, and sorry for my delay.
Could find a link to Quarx's official thread (it's in russian, but browser's translator is doing a great job) on the ROMs thread.
Is the version linked on that site newer than yours?
And how big does my system partition need to be?
System 250MB and data 134MB like with the stock ROM?
EDIT: Could answer myself to the latest question: here they say a 150MB partition for system is enough for Quarx.
