There are two versions, darker and lighter. But with connector and anything else it's fully compatible. Alpine always has lighter screen, this qtek i received has it too, my first hima has it too, but many himalayas have the darker one.
there is third version, with diffrent connector, but I never noticed this one.
wow.. thank you for the fast reply.. my hima lcd is broken and im having trouble finding one so i think of some alternative.. thanks alot..

How unofficially official

EDIT: I just had a thought... sorry to be the first to ***** but the SD slot at the top must make it more obvious? People might have the urge to fire it out the top (XDA has some firing range if done properly) or even worse....increase the chance of it getting pinched
nice pics...
Thank you...
Could you give some details on the connector?
Can I use my XDA cables and carkit?
As always: impressive stuff
About connections and accessories:
1- does it fit in the leathercase of the XDA I
2- does it fit in the craddle of the XDA I
3- does it fit with the charger of the XDA I
4- does it fit with the car charger of XDA I
5- is it the same stylus ? does the stylus of XDA I fit in the socket of XDA II ?
In other words, if we have extra accessories of the present XDA, can I use them with the new XDA II ?

Does that mean, that this part of the ROM is fully user-accessible (reading&writing)?
In that case it would be very easy to change an XDA II to an MDA II (software-wise) by simply copying the files in that arey from on to another?
Is that true?

You can use any cable you have, but not the old cradle: the shape of the device is slightly different. I guess whether or not you can use your carkit depends on the form-factor.
The cradle that comes with it can charge a second battery (they are removeable now), and has a 2A power supply.

Yeah, these SD-card eject springs can be weapons-grade. But still the top is the only right place to have your wavelan or gps SDIO card stick out.

Correct.
Something tells me that any XDA II follow-up to the kitchen will no longer mess with the tiny bit of space in the 32MB main ROM, but will focus on this extended ROM disk instead. The life of a tweaker will be nicer and easier on the XDA II.

The unit we got appears to be unlocked. It may well be that they finally discovered that SIMlocking is immoral.
If they do start selling SIMlocked units, we'll see what happens. We've thought of a few ways one could make it harder to unlock, and at least in theory they could make it hard enough to deter people like us.

So we just have to wait for many little tweaks by the o2-developers. Then we -the users- simply have to install those to the ROM disk and voila! Thanks to HTC for that great opportunity!
So: Hurry up and build some tweaks
Not such a intresting question but is the LCD the same size as the XDA as i have loads of screen protectors to fit the XDA, I know its brighter and better , but is it the same size
Thanks
one question think most of us would like to ask
can the XDA 2 use Jeff's Kitchen or Kalex's Kitchen?? would be great if its possible...love the IIWPO on it

It is 1 millimeter wider and half a millimeter higher. (And this while the entire device is narrower because the screen edges are smaller. Vierwable area is the same.

Nothing stops you from putting this ROM in the kitchen. Structure is the same, and conventional mkrom-family tools work. Hoever, the whole rationale behind the kitchen becomes thinner when you have 32 MB flash-disk and 128 MB RAM to play with.
Of course never seen before

I think they are connectors for external antennas, one for WCDMA and one for GSM/GPRS.

Yep, your right.
Look also at this pdf @ page 7
Also i can se the posibility for the "all connect in one move" Car Craddle.
But I cannot describe how dissapointed I am that there is no Cradle bundled with this device
well personaly i've stop'd using my cradles for my xda2 since i got my silicone case i'll ruin it in no time if i choose to take it out of it every time i want to sync / charge
of cause with the universal being the way it is dont see such a silicone case being a problem like that....

The clock I have on my Vario 2 is virtually identical. I have a piece of software on my phone called Phonealarm clicky (which isn't freeware but it is a great program and worth buying .. or at least I found it worth buying) and you can apply various today skins, one of which is a replica of the clock you want.
Hmmmmm... thinks I have been to porn sites and is going to clean my computer for me... and for free!
Well I really believe it will, so I am going to install the activeX component.
People are so helpfull in this place called the internet.

One question:
People looking this thread should know.
8525 and other Herm100 and/orHerms200 have same mainboard.
8525 has only empty socket for webcam or has different mainboard without any webcam socket?
I plan to have a cingular 8525 and do all roms suitable for 8525 or will I need to find specific 8525 roms.
By the way the housing is pretty easy to change on the Hermes, it only took me about 30 minutes to dismantle and re-assemble mine.
Just be careful not to damage the ribbons inside.
Thanks for uploading this. I really need it.
Houseless
Hi, does anyone know where i can get a new housing for the 8525? Mine cracked during a fight with the X. I shouldnt have ducked.

Sometimes I wonder if folk read the Hermes Wiki! The service manual, dismantling guides and even a dismantling video have been linked there for a looooong time. See near the bottom of the page:

By the way - moving this to Hermes General forum as changing the housing is not an "upgrading" matter.

I have a telus htc vogue with a broken screen, anyone know where I might find one? Out of pure boredom i would like to get it working.
Unfortunately they don't seem to have parts lying around for this device these days. A peek through craigslist showed that there are used htc touch's out there anywhere from $40-100 depending on the condition. Because the screen is one of those unwarrantied things that likely are expensive to repair/replace, I'm guessing it's almost better to replace?

there are three different screen manufactures for the vogue screen meaning different drivers. i don't remember the manufacturers names off hand, but i know dzo's android kernel auto detects which screen you have and then uses the appropriate driver.
