Format? What exactly are you trying to do?
Format = Reset 0 (without contact, software,etc...) = As a new phone !!!
yes there is an option in settings where it says factory reset

hi,
New to the "ROM update" world, i've succeded in installing the French Rom V1.25.406.1.fr on my HTC Cruise (Polaris).
My "problem" was this red and very ugly "SFR / vodafone" splash screen. Then, i searched on the forum to find a way to change this screen and found this thread :

I arrived to the WIKI page dedicated to this : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SplashScreen and followed instructions using "mtty" :

USB> lnb finalsplash.nb 50140000
USB> task 8
The device restarted twice (after each "task 8" command), and now offers a white startup screen, but keeps on loading WM6 FR correctly. So there has been a problem while updating the screen but did not cause a dramatic failure.
I then restarted the device in booloader mode and found that the description in the red section had been sort of corrupted.
It now displays :

CPLD-2
As it looks strange to me, and as i can't find a way to have a proper splashscreen i decided to reinstall the ROM package. But when starting to install i now get this message "ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID". On this error screen is also diplayed a kind of serial number on the right bottom, and it looks "corrupted" as far as i remembe i saw such number ant it was normal during my first installation. It now displays : "N-&ààaâäae-S-PPND./01*"
After this quick recap, i would be very please to find help for any tech guy (or not) who could find a way to get install a proper ROM on my device that will be updatable again.
hope i'm clear (i understand this can be a little messy ..), and i really hope someone will help me get rid of this.

well congratulations for managing to find the place it stores the Model ID, hard luck for managing to wipe it.
what I'll do is rbmc my device and dump off my nand so you can write back a valid ModelID... but in the worst case scenario I can just bung you a patched SPL to ignore the model ID.
I think I'll post the correct addresses on the wiki... also, rather than committing suicide like that, in future, build an NBH properly and the device takes care of the addresses for you.
oh, one other thing, could you please check and see if your WLAN is dead or not.

I've just checked my WLAN. it could correctly open a WPA TKIP session on my router and browse mobile.htc.com with Internet Explorer.
That must mean it's alive and working i think.

I think we can probably recover you if we make a 0x100 byte file with the appropriate data and lnb it to that address
OK, I've reconstructed you a ModelID to flash using lnb...
command is
lnb 50104000 thefile.nb
(where thefile.nb is the filename of the NB in the zip... please remember to extract it)

yes, my mistake, it's file then addr.
incidentally, the correct address to lnb the splash screen to is 0x50140000 and 0x501A0000 respectively.

What do you mean lost? What information? How did you lose it? Did you flash another rom or hard reset without backing up information? You need to provide more information so we can assist you.
If you did a hard reset or flashed another rom without backing up your information then it is lost forever, as both these tasks basically format device back to basic operating sytem & default settings of whatever rom is on device.

i mean , it was deleted unintentionally.. without hard reset .. these informations are some pictures and sounds file .

most of the times my phone can not show the contact list . in my recent cals I can find them name so it means th contact list can sun but when I press the contact button it sows me a white page . after 10 to 15 times reset it will be ok .

Which version of the phone are you using ? Which ROM ?
Where are your contacts saved ? In your sim card, or in the phone memory ?
Help people help you : provide relevant information.
Anyway, if it eventually works after a bunch of resets, it has to be a bug / conflict on your device.
my rom is the original one :6.1
and my contacts are on my phone , this problem is gong to choose one : kill myself or kill my ohone .
maybe a hard reset can help but I dont know how to make it . please help guys
if you hard reset your phone you're going to erase everything stored on your device (including your contacts).
i've seen this problem on my old elf with a 6.1 rom, and the solution for that device (in my case) was to kill the contacts process, soft reset, launch contacts again.
or you could try syncing everything to your PC first, then hard reset and sync everything back. be careful about conflict resolution options on which overrides which.

I have a X2 from china, when i enter to Syste / Memory , i find only two tabs ( Information from Main programs , and sd memory) but i cant the option for Clear Memory Phone.
I can see so anothers option , because is all on chinese languaje.
I try to do this for changin languaje to spanish , but is not way to restar this x2 ( Hard reset by combinations of botons dont work) .
Can someone give me a clue or tellme the way to find the clear phone memory icon . Thanks

Try going to Settings, System and then Phone Reset.

The X2 is a Windows Mobile Device, you CAN NOT change the language by resetting the device. WinMo is just shipped that way.
You need to instead read this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684323
That's what you need to do to change the language. Then you also need to adjust some stuff in the registry to make sure the hardware keyboard has the correct layout.
Just look for the "trash can" icon in the System folder.

Course i know that , but resetting the device is the firt step for that procedure .
Anyway , i resolve my problem.
Remenber , my device is all in chinese languaje .I can not recognize the words in any way. But i can use the icons for recognize.
1.- Settings , and system (Folder with Windows symbol)
2.- U can see here a symbol like this (is not the "trash can " icon ) : attached image bellow
3.-Enter here , and check the two boxes.
Then in the box complete with the number indicating the side of the.
Then press the button below that indicates YES ( For clear phone).
Just wait for the phone restars , and late u can see the screen alignment.
Note : The procedure for changin languaje dont work on chinese X2 , I suppose this device have the last version of so .

I have played alot with the registry files in my phone and now its too slow, lots of lag input from the keyboard, and its just functioning terribly.
I would like to start over, so I would like to know how to Format my phone ?
Is there a way I can save my email settings so that I dont have to retype all info again once I format it ?
Is it possible for me to port an ANDROID ROM on my HD2 instead of the windows one ?

Regarding formatting the phone: Windows -Settings- System - Clear Storage (enter code 1234) and you're phone will perform a hard reset and you'll loose all the information, going back to factory settings. Preferably remove tour SD card before doing that. Put your SD card in your PC/laptop and delete the Application Data folder and reinsert in in the phone after the hard reset.
This answers also your question regarding your email settings: no, you cannot save them they will be erased too. But setting up an account does not take that much time?
Regarding Android, I cannot help you. Don't use it.
