So, phone destroys my internet at home. hm.
you know whats worse? I live right in the middle of anahiem, ca with 5 bars at my house, running speedtest....
wow its even worse right now...
469down/1179up
best ive gotten from this location is:
1689down/1226up
Yeah the same thing is happening for me. My phones internet speed is faster than my dsl landline at home but with my landline I know I'm most likely going to receive consistent speeds, my phone's internet occasionally spikes and stops working. All I know is I can stream things off my phone so its always feasible to try watching House before I go to bed w/o having to turn on the laptop.
Lucky for u guys. My house sucks. My dsl is 786kbps unlesd I pay $50 a month for 3mb. Then my 3g/4g signal drops like a fly. So I only get edge at my house but if I go down the street.(about 8 houses over) I get 4-6mb 4g

I have comcast ultra 32 mps dl, my phone usually pulls between 2 and 2.5 mps at home on cellular
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
My phone connection destroys my home DSL connection. I get 1.5 mbps down on my crappy Qwest DSL. On my phone I average around 6 mbps or more. I need to find a better home connection.
I DO pay like 15$ a month for internet so I shouldn't complain haha.
Even after the 5GB soft cap, my cell phone is still quicker than my 1.5mbps dsl...

and my cell phone if i hold it just right at just the right time in just the right temp i get 3mb. Now if i leave my house and go to the main street i get an easily 7-8mb down

I get around 7MB down, 1.5MB up on my G2. Oh and this is my home, hope no one gets mad at me for either :S
20Mbps vs 4. I must be in the stone age.
Damn, I'm loving my Uni net all of a sudden.
It actually goes a bit faster.. my download speeds vary from 6-10 MB/s.

for the first time since ive had sprint im getting the speed they've always claimed but ive never reached...im just wondering if anyone in and around pearland can tell me if they have similar speeds....i just know this isnt going to last but still a bit excited my 3g has never reached 3 or even crept past 1
I got 9 down in beverly hills yesterday with 4G, that was cool.
lol im so excited because well i have never seen 3Mbps on 3g on sprint, ive gotten 889kbps at most, i now this wont hold up for very long because if it could my 3g here wouldnt be so shoddy...this whole town is saturated in 4g and i cant get it on my evo for more then a min before losing it and my neighbor who has a franklin 4g stick gets 2bars and 500kbps on 4g...its ridiculous
I used to get 3 mbs down speed at the beginning of last year in the St. Louis area in 3g but its slower now but 4g is about 4.95 down now.

The speed test app isn't very accurate, download xtreme labs test app, its a bit more accurate, speakeasy website I think is better then speedtest.net and just like I figured my 3Mbps over 3g is back down to 600kbps
Best I ever got on 3G was about 2.6mbps. Got a little over 7 on 4G the other day in downtown Houston. Those 10+ speeds are awesome.

HOLY CRAPO!
Is that with 4G full bars?? thats bad, i get that with 3G in philadelphia, in center city I reached 9mbs early in the morning, then I average 4mbs-7mbs in 4G!!
The 3g in my area always runs at 1.5 to 2.3 but its a small town with not many sprint users.... Sadly I'll probably never see 4g
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
damn im lucky when i hit 1 Mbit/sec!
I can't wait until Lubbock gets 4G or I get to go back home to MD.
I am a bit curious as to what 3G speeds you guys and gals are getting on a normal basis.
I usually get around 2 mbps down and 1 mbps up, and I live in the outskirts of orlando. For some reason, it's actually faster here than in the middle of the city.

Usually where I am, at full signal strength I get about 1.7mb. I've never reached 2mb

I'm lucky to get 1mbps down and 1.2 up.....but i'm also in the middle of a frickin field
around 1mb down and 700kb up.
Same place with ATT on my iPhone I was getting 2.5mb down and 400kb up.
Doesn't seem any slower though *shrug*
Live in the mountains so mines realllllyyyy slw.

Same here. I am in east Tennessee.
I work for USCC and typically when I have done tests on our wireless card and different phones in store around 1.5mb down and somewhere around 600kb up. I don't have a clue on my fascinate since I just use it on wifi and as a music player/camera/camcorder.
I get about 500kbps down and 700 up. It angers me very much how slow it is. Every other phone I've tested gets at LEAST 1.2Mbps up.
Are all of these speed tests listed here running on 3g or mixed bag w/wifi? I know the title asks for 3g speeds, but 2 mb looks like wifi to me. Not disputing, just clarification/confirmation.
Heres about what i usually get at home on 3g.

Just a heads up. I've been connecting to the 4G network in a few places around town. So far I was able to connect in West End but it is very spotty.
Then I got a connection at the comedy club Stardome in Hoover.
I got the best connection while sitting at the Purple Onion in Homewood.
According to Clear's app a lot of Birmingham should be covered. It also said Bessemer to but I can't connect at all there

Should be! But the recent tornadoes probably just took em out.

You would think that but I'm down in Birmingham because of the power outages in Huntsville.
I got the best speeds while riding down I-65 through downtown.

The top one was the only test I took while on 4G.
I was getting 4g a couple of weeks before the tornadoes came through. I had some service in Linn Park downtown but was very spotty, and disappeared as soon as i got inside (even next to a window, the glass would stop all my 4g service). I stayed connected most of the way down 31 on my way home (doing speed tests the whole way) then lost 4g somewhere in Homewood. My speeds never got above 3 megs down, and up was pretty bad. The part that troubled me was that ping was always HORRIBLE - like 300 or more. I hope this is not the final result because its worse than 3g.
I've been getting really good 4G in both Enterprise, AL and Dothan, AL recently. Usually around 2mbps to 4.5mbps surprisingly enough. Just wish the Enterprise tower was strong enough to get a signal to my house on Fort Rucker.
Amazed that Clear has towers up in such a small place as Enterprise. Feel like I might be the only one using this tower a lot.
Well crap. I just left Helena. I was down there all weekend cause Albertville was out of power.
There are no expansion plans for "4G" in Birmingham. Clearwire is so pathetic they cant expand and actually are putting 1-3 sites in each market to avoid the FCC revoking their spectrum licensing. 5 Mbps on 4G is pretty bad anyways considering I get 14Mbps on AT&T and 35-40 on Verizon LTE.
I love outside of B-ham in West Jefferson, about 30 minutes away from Homewood. 10 mins away from Forestdale. I hate not having 4g. I wish they would put up a tower for us in birmingham. I have had my phone for almost a year and it has never connected to a 4g tower. Ever. It pisses me off that I have to pay the 10 dollar charge and cant get it. I for some reason dont get it in Homewood, at Virginia College.
Alright so after traveling around and experiencing wimax for the first time I came up with an idea.
In smaller towns the speed tests I took showed that they had under the .6 mbps required for 3g. Now the larger towns I was in scored at that mark or above. Now I had to pass through 8 places. Three of which were rather large and one was LA. The other had less than 50k people. To me it seems a lot of slow internet on phones are in the smaller regions.
Now this was just the test on my moat recent trip to the beach but I wkonder if anyone else had this realization.

well san antonio isnt exactly a small town and i still see sub 56k speeds most of the time.
the small towns in the hill country out here are the places where you can get decent 3g speed lol.

was pulling consistent 1meg speeds earlier in kerrville
Ahhh well it is just the things I've noticed. Always getvbetter speeds when I go to a bigger town. In my town we have 30k people and I see needs fmof .3 mbps all the time , and answer thing with the towns I went through. Maybe its must my area
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It depends on how close you are to a(n internet) backbone as well as what speedtest server you are using. One of the internets major hubs is in LA so you should see pretty decent speeds there while some towns further out may have a ways to go before they can even get on the main part of the internet.
Think of it like one person living a block away from the interstate while another has to take side roads to get there.
edit: I got curious and found a newer map of Sprint's network. This should give you a pretty good idea of where you might get better speeds, just keep in there are a lot of other factors that can affect it too.

i do live in the middle of no where though.. might have something to do with it.
State capital of LA here. Below 50 kilobit is the norm in town. If I head out to fringe areas I can get 800-1000. I roam on VZW 3g quite a lot.
I live in a town of 5k people, about 25 miles east of Houston TX. I used to have AWESOME 3G speeds, up until about a month ago. Not exactly sure what happened, my thoughts are sprint used to use a Verizon town a few miles from my house and now it doesn't. I went to a Verizon PRL and speeds are back up
Just got off the phone with customer care and I was shocked to find out I use over 30 gigs of data a month!
Made it real hard to complain about my poor data speeds at home....lmfao
Round 5gigs on 1 phone 10 on all four My kids and wife only text and use Facebook I use most of the data...
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
How do you do you use 30 gigs a month unless you tether? That is the only way you can get 30 gigs unless your streaming HQ stuff all day..
Ive used JUST OVER 5GB on 3G this month....easily 40+ GB on 4G (mostly tethering).
And this topic LOL I love it ever like 3 to four months it pops up

I could easily use 1 to 2 TBs a month if these **** ass phones actually worked. lmao. Yesterday I connected to a SO CALLED 4G network tower. 4 bars. GUESS WHAT! 50KB'S. OH WOW. THAT'S SO FAST! OMG, SPRINT IS REALLY DOING A GREAT JOB ON THEIR 4G NETWORK! lmao! btw, the 3G network actually worked. 4G doesn't work **** where I live. Its a joke.

You're welcome to switch at anytime...enjoy using AND PAYING for 1 or 2 TB a month.
(On Verizon that would only run a few $1000 a month)
"The grass is always greener on the other side..."
haha. yeah, I'll stay with sprint. haha. But one day these providers are going to have to take a step down and stop acting like data costs so damn much as we both know it doesn't. But there is a simple fact, WiMax is no more. Sprint even attempted to this. then again, I think Wimax should have won but sadly sprint had too much control over it. They should have put a LOW cost use of the technology on it then ALL of the providers would have went that route. :-D 8M down is just fine for all of us. who needs 25M on a cell?
http://m.engadget.com/default/artic...nificant-4g-plan/&category=classic&postPage=1
I can get atleast .6 and up to 2 mpbs if I am near the towers. If you go any distance my speeds fall to .2 and stay there.
But hey only 25k people in my town = we got like 4-6 towers MAX for the entire area. and no we don't have condos and high towering homes. So we are spread out.
We have fantastic connections but only when your close to the towers. I have seen .06 mbps most of the time anyways so ehh.
I average 600mbs a montha nd last month was my most use, just over a gig of data used. Im a power user
I have excellent 4G coverage here also, I use 0mbs a month
