More importantly would the same root method work for his device?

Can't you just use ROM manager and create a nandroid? Send it to Sombionix.

The Vibrant is a different phone...

DJ05 includeds a new modem. If you mess it up there is no way to go back and you will likely have an expensive PDA. That is why it's not posted for mass consumption.

you will prolly get slammed by many people for not "researching" just fyi.. but there is not an update as of yet.. 2.2 is supposed to come out but no one knows when it will.. same goes for the DJ05 update that is supposed to fix multiple bugs..

guys he can i did the same thing once on my OG droid i flashed a miui update for the htc incredible on it and it really screwed a crap load of stuff up but u can fix it
