[Q] How to Sim Unlock when using a custom ROM? - Touch HD General

Hi everyone,
I've had a look through the forums and also on google but can't find an answer to my question (which I hope isnt too stupid)
A few months ago I flashed a custom rom (Blackstonehenge) on to my phone and have been using it fine. Now I would like to SIM unlock my phone since I've come to the end of my contract but can't find anywhere to input unlock codes..
Is there anyway of unlocking without having to put a stock ROM back on?
Please help because I've been searching for hours now and my eyes ache...

Here you go mate..

Thanks very much

Unlock code

Hi guys! Well, i bought a new HTC magic, but my problem is that im going away from the country for a while and I needed to unlock my phone!
After trying 2 payed sites that offered remote unlocking by IMEI, neither one of them was able to successfuly deliver the Unlocking Code after more than 2 days!
Anyone got an idea about this? Im starting to get really worried...
Thanks in advance...
Try just rooting it & using a rom provided here..
wrong. try using ur default ROM and then doing the unlock
I have my original rom... the problem is, wherever I go, no one can "create"/"deliver"/"found" (call it what you want... lol) a code for my IMEI! its starting to get really annoing...
Thanks for your replys!
Double post... Sorry!

Rooted Tattoo, but now what?

Hi,
I got told off for posting this in an unrelated thread, so apologies and thoughts I'd start a new one.
I follwed the great work done on on another xda thread that I can't link to. I now have a rooted HTC Tattoo, thanks to the M7 fix.
Now what ?
The original problem I was trying to fix was that I had a locked Tattoo to Orange. I did a ROM flash which got rid of all the Orange guff, but it still gives me the message that I need a network unlock code to work. In reality, that seems a spurious message because even with a valid(?) or just an 8 digit number it looks unlocked, but the sim doesn't work.
Reading around the topic, I gather that the radio doesn't get flashed because Orange prevents access to it. What I'm thinking is that now that I have a rooted adb shell I can apply a ROM to the Radio?
Any ideas. I'm thinking I might need a custom Rom? Which I know is being worked on, I just wonder if the nature of the rooting not being persistent prevents the usual flashing process? Although I'm tech-savvy, the phone is a new platform for me, so please be gentle.
Thanks
Hi!!
I've got the same problema, I've got a HTC Tattoo locked for Orange Uk. I flash it to the lastest Official Version. I try to do root and I put the unlock code. It acept but it doesn't registred to mobile network.
Do you fix it?

Yes, phone unlock is permanent unless you choose to relock it... and not many people do .

uk bought xoom - need help

asked in q&a but no response
hi guys,
i just bought a xoom in the uk as an impulse buy. usually i do a lot of reading on things like this so i dont usually need help when it comes to rooting, unlocking bootloader etc.
This has probably been asked but i tried searching and i just got more confused. I would like to know if the uk xoom (wifi only) can be rooted and if i can unlock the bootloader. i would like to install a jellybean rom if that is possible but i couldnt really find i guide on this particular version.
If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

I'm sure this has been covered, must search harder!! LOL
Anyhow
I flashed this Rom on to my uk xoom. Doesn't matter that it's for the US one , well I've not seen any ill effects It also turns your device into a google experience device so updates come direct from google. You're a bit late to the party on that one however as they've dropped support in 4.2.1
Bootloader is unlockable through fastboot oem unlock ( this will wipe your data ), no hacking required.
That should give you something to start wifi!

[Q] Please help! Already away from home with S4 - any way to SIM unlock?

Hi,
I really should have come here first, before i left home, but i stupidly assumed i could trust ATT to get me unlocked with their code. But since i have a custom ROM installed (Task650 running 4.2.2), i believe this is why their code isn't working for me when i put a Vodafone sim in here in Italy.
And i am not sure but it seems as if other menu-driven phone dialer unlock methods will not work since i am no longer on my ATT network.
Is there any other way to make the unlock happen, without having to flash back to stock ROM? i think if i flash to stock the ATT code would work, but i would seriously prefer not to do that, for obvious reasons.
Thanks so much for the help!!

I replied to you in the other thread you posted in.
thank you, i responded there. for anyone else reading here i can not access the hidden menus and not sure if it's bc i don't have any active working service on either sim i have, and if that is required to get the menus to appear.

I doubt it will work if you've updated, but this is what you got.
