Need help with my magic!

Hi guys,
I was wondering if I could update the software (cupcake 1.5) of my HTC magic to the one on the HTC Hero. My girlfriend has it and she's always pushing me around because her's look more 'fancy'.
I looked it up on the net but couldn't find anything right away. I even checked youtube and I saw some people running the HTC hero rom (most likely another name but I'm new to this Android thing).

There is donut roms for magic. Just check the dev section under magic.

i thought the htc magic had the official sense ui update?
MLIGN made a tut. about it on his website or you can root your phone and try out a hero rom.

Friend Stream doesn't support Plurk anymore?

hi guys,
I went to a store and tried out the htc desire and somehow I can't find plurk on the friend stream.
So I did some research and found out that in one of the updates (the one I have found about HTC Hero updating to 2.1 offical rom) plurk is no longer supported.
so I am asking you guys if there are any ways to get it back?
Also, another question is, if I rooted my desire, does that mean the friend stream would be gone too? Any good apps can replace that?

Taiwan version still support Plurk. They remove it from other versions because there are not many people use Plurk.

No you would not loose Friend Stream if you rooted the phone and as long as you flashed it with a rom that had sense. Also the new Froyo 2.2 sense rom's support plurk on Friend Stream.

I assume you are under the (false) impression that HTC Magic has sense in their official release....
(Am I wrong that it doesn't?!)

I realise this, I was mereley pointing out that support is still there from the carriers for older models with HTC. From a development point, this support can only help and assist developers in using the lates official drivers, frameworks etc.. to adapt and tweak.

actually htc magic will recieve 2.2.1 in the UK, just google it.. (offical from vodafone that is)

HTC Magic is just plain old vanilla Android.

Well , HTC Magic received and 2.1 Sense official rom , may be that will be the case again.

To quote the Vodafone post on it:
'... improved support for Active Sync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync)'
That to me says it is vanilla FroYo.

I agree that it does look like vanilla Froyo, but I was merely stating that it is good news that the Magic is still being supported and updated to newer firmware etc. This can only be good news to other handesets such as our Hero's. After all, any new firmware will only enable developers to get their hands on the latest drivers, frameworks etc...

I wonder what kernel version it is running?
Would be nice to one day salvage enough driver code to get .34 or beyond running on our phones!

Hmmm... Interesting, though not that likely to help in terms of drivers IMHO, given we've got CM properly compiling for hero.

Bet this will annoy stock hero users, that an older device will get 2.2 and they won't (officially). Time to head over to XDA for them perhaps?
All I will say is don't get your hopes up at a .34 kernel. It might, but bear in mind that gingerbread runs on .29 on the emulator, so it could be a .29 one again...

yeah, I think the vodafone htc magic never had sense (the unbranded ones got sense in the 1.6 and 2.1 versions)
isn't there a chance that you can port this camera driver to hero with Sense? I mean both phones had almost the same hardware..
also I heard from another forum that the 2.2.1 update for Magic has 2.6.32 kernel..

None of this is new, the Magic has had a senseless 2.2 (I assume 2.2.1) update from TMO with a .32 kernel for quite some time now. For now, none have succeed porting its camera to the Sense 2.2 - even the magic Sense 2.2 ROM (which is based on the gratia and legend ports) has the exact same problems like we do.....

hehe, the only thing i could get to work on the diamond was android 2.2 froyo,
Don't you just need to but an HaRET compatible gingerbread (2.3) rom in the andboot/HaRET Folder and then load it?
