using doc's mod (v7.5) jpo without lagfix or any startup tweaks:
Quadrant:
1st) 967
2nd) 1031
3rd) 1018
0xbench:
run0/1 is with jpo
other runs are with jpa (the african ver not european) with lagfix and startup tweaks
absolutely no difference
Docs mod is not official froyo, if the kies one is any different, flashing doc's will revert it back to odin version

I've been running JPH 2.2 for a while now and getting a bit frustrated with blackouts FCs etc. (Which is expected on beta firmware) so I want to go back to 2.1 and wait until official non-beta 2.2 arrives.
So, what IS the most recent, stable, non-beta, 2.1 stock European English firmware?
Thanks,
Mark.

Get it from samfirmware.com (jm1) and flash using odin. Howtos are there as well. Remember to remove any lagfixes.

Thanks guys!
I am now going to toss a coin to decide whether to downgrade to JM1 or JM8 (beta?)!!
I like the idea that people have said that JM8 + voodoo/lagfix is the best performance but a little devil on my shoulder is saying to try JPK!!! aarrgghhh.... I can't decide!
Now I am using my phone 100% (instead of playing with it and switching back to my old Nokia when SGS is gettting on my nerves) I need a FW/ROM that will work NOW, fun Froyo stuff can wait I suppose.

Have aosp flashed. Then goto eugene373 website and download one of his overclocked kernels. Flash this and your done. I am currently using AOSPish 1.1 with Eugene's OC/UV kernel and OCLF and it runs great. Very little errors.

I an currently running ee with phoenix 1.43, . I was wanting to know if I could just flash a froyo rom on to of those. I am currently on the DI18 radio as well. I have searches but all of the current roms talk about using odin. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can flash dj29 froyo over dl18 however your current kernal is 2.1 only.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Btw dj29 froyo can be flashed through clockwork and flashing a dk05 or dk17 modem through odin is not necessary for dj29.

Thanks for the fast response, so would my 2.1 kernel hinder anything running the rom?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Your kernal is a 2.1(Eclair) kernal only. It will nor work if u decide to run a 2.2(Froyo) rom. All froyo roms have a kernal included however u may not want to switch over because all kernals for 2.2 are 1000mhz with no mods availible like undervolting or overclocking.

the kernel should be able to read ext4 natively and there is a alpha of voodoo avaible but the source code hasn't been released yet so you will have to wait some time for a broad range of custom kernels
2.3.2 gingerbread update
Not released as an update yet .
What you see is a leaked Beta not the finished job .

I'm looking for the most stable and 100% stock 2.3.3 firmware for the SGS. I did a search but the threads were too old. Any suggestions, especially since I read many 2.3.3 suffer from battery issues ? Some of the newer 2.3.3 ROMs I tested (Asian) gave me weird brightness issues (screen changing brightness constantly).
Why ?
Just flash via odin the stock 2.3.4 jvq dedoexe and flash with it kernel dark core
Or install custom rom

No. JVQ is too buggy for me (Phone app crashes) and brightness blinds me at night. I like to keeps things stock and not install kernels or other stuff.
I use JPI as it is an oficially released 2.3.3
I did not notice any bugs.
JVP is not oficially?

I like JVO although I believe that JVH gave me better battery life.

i will suggest to use the jvq 2.3.4. I'm on stock + speedmod and after the fix for the phone.apk everything is fast and very stable
I'm on JVH stock (XEN) and it gives better battery life than unofficial stock JVP. It is a bit laggy though but with speedmod kernel and ext4 it is just fine
