Just came back to the evo after leaving for Verizon and the evo I got seems to be slower than I remember. I was wondering on average how long it takes everyone else to load web pages and such mine loads fairly quickly but like i said not quite as fast as i remembered them. Also my YouTube app barely loads videos in hq they just sit and takes forever to load. Wondering if their might be something wrong with the phone that its not that fast or am I just remembering this phone being faster than it is. I love this phone i never wanted to get rid of it in the first place and if this is the way its supposed to be then so be it but i just want to make sure that everything is ok and in working order.
These all sound like quality of service issues, which could vary widely depending on signal strength, amount of bandwidth available, and of course whether or not you're on 3G, 4G or wifi.
It's hard to really troubleshoot something without any facts or details, maybe you can start with a speedtest for network speed and a CPU test for the actual phone speed. There are both in the market.
It said my cpu speed is 662.40Mhz and my speedtest is 581kbps download and 523kbps upload.
Also these test were done on 3g. 4g isn't very reliable in my area.

CPU speed seems low as it is rated for 998MHZ stock. speed seems about right for 3g sadly
Not sure if I used the right program though so i could have givin the wrong number from the test what is the best program to do a cpu test? I used 2 different programs one was cpu benchmark that gave 998mhz and the first one i used was android cpu tester which gave the 662.40mhz. Should i take it back and try and get a new one or is this normal i'm not sure whats up or if its just me.

Your CPU is fine. Just do a quadrant test, you should get ~1200-1300 stock.
Youtube/website not loading is because you are on a slow 3G connection.
Thanks for the help everyone i did the quadrant test 3 times first time i got 1191 but the second and third time i got 1296 so my phone looks like it is working the way it is supposed to. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped me out on this.
so... why did you go.. and why you come back?
the 3g speeds seam a little slow...
it should be double that in download...
maybe.. it is just busier of late.

4G + EVO = bad a$$
I thought the download speed seemed low too but I would think that has to do with the network and not my phone.

Hi to all, I would share with you my experience with this software:
http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=speedbooster
just installed on my Diamond, and now everything runs smoother and faster!!
I don't know exactly how it works but I must say that it's amazing!
I didn't notice any difference ... :/
Thanks Diego,
I will play around with it this to compare the before and after.
give us a screenshot with the settings that you made so we can try them, I didn't notice any difference either...

Yes, it makes a difference for my diamond too.
I'm using the settings shown on their forum:
Code:
increase gwes.exe for overall drawing speed
increase targetapp.exe to make it run smoother
change target app to the process you use most, like browser or game.

overclocking usually kills the battery but diamond microprocessor cant be overcloced... i dont understand very well what does this app do to the device....
i am gonna try it... the posted one is trial 5 days.
It does not overclock the diamond CPU as so far it is not possible, i have CPU benchmarked before and after to prove this and it is no different.
I also do not notice any performance difference from this software, but that may be due to running duttys rom which already includes many performance tweaks.
I installed the trial and maybe I was being paranoid but my battery levels were just dropping more than normal and I wasn't even using the phone . Didn't notice any improvement on the phone either while I had a quick play.
Speedbooster uninstalled.
Speedbooster - Does it work??
Well... I downloaded the 5 day trial but the trial is limited to only partially tweaking/enhancing aspects of the Diamond.
But in saying that I noticed some apps refreshing faster. At almost 15 Euro's I am not game enough to buy this program to see if it works. Our poor Australian dollar would make this program as expensive as 9 BigMacs (without fries!) or half a tank of petrol.
I have tried so many tweaking programs and my conclusion is that if you want your Diamond to run faster wait for future models with a faster processor than the now old & slow Qualcomm 528Mhz. I read that 600 Mhz to 1 Ghz processors are coming.
I would certainly give up my 9 BigMacs for a faster CPU. Only with that will we see a real speed boost in our HTC's!!!
Aussie
correct me if I am wrong but doesnt changing the Pagepool do the same?
anyway all we are talking about here is a milliseconds in time difference.
Are we that time poor that we cant wait 0.5 second for an app to load?
The diamond has its limitations & i would say after a year or so of tweaking the ROMs & all the apps that we have just about reached that limitation.
sounds like a scam to me
No much good reactions, thats sad, i hoped this program would be a nice add-on to our Diamond.
Yeah, just lets wait on new phones with a decent processor, 1 Ghz would be awesome, i'm sure they are will coming very soon

it tried a full cracked version and didnt like it. after a lot of benchmarks i didnt notice any difference...
Ι also used ful verison, to my custom rom, and turn to full gwes.exe and manila2.exe . The diference is very big. I didnt expected it. I dont know if the same will happen to original rom version . (I dont think there is manila2.exe to the original rom)

Yeah its the same for me. Speedbooster makes some apps run much faster.
Strange thing is that the benchmark result is usually the same. This might be a good thing - meaning that the CPU speed remains the same, but it just gives more power to some specific app instead of another. Actually this is exactly what I want:
I don't care about the stupid OS doing stupid things, but I DO CARE about my GPS or webbrowser - and here this proggie seems to give a useful hand.
I agree about the price, is a bit expensive, but at least it works
About the price...
You can get it for free on the developer's website, it's some kind of promotion, you only need to install it, run a benchmark with the built in tool, and post your score:
http://teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2011
hurry up, I don't know how much it will last!
How it works.
It modifies the process priority similarly to the task manager in windows.
It does other stuff too but that's basically what it does.
and what's the verdict ? does it speed up our Diamonds ? (i was testing it... and didn't notice any difference :/ )
It DOES have impact on performance.
Its very easy to test. Try to lower the system apps and services and you will se that the device run slower.
On TF3D its very clear the it makes it run faster/slower if you change the priority.
My opinion; It works...somehow.
Im new to winmo can any one tell me if its possible to set my cpu scale..
Ive been studyin android, so this is a whole diffr ball game for me.
also id like to know what the best turn by turn navi on winmo
I am pretty sure it can be overclocked and underclocked. I have not spent any time looking at this but hopefully there is, or will be, an application available for this purpose. I'd love to actually scale the CPU down for most use then speed it back up to normal when I need it...like a profile activated type of thing, or maybe according to which applications I am using on the phone. There is something like this for Android and I have it on my Nexus One.

Exact, already drains more than enough
To answer the question, no, there's no overclocking app that works on the HD2.
Really the answer is
"Yes, write an app and overclock it!"
....but I recommend not to do this, the HTC HD2 gets hot at 1GHz when doing intensive things, like executing flash content and remember that we aren't in the summer when the external temperature reaches over 37°C.
If it gets hot with an external temperature of 14°C, imagine at 37°C.
My PhenomX4 for example is overclocked (with overvoltage) from 2.5GHz (stock) to 3.4GHz (OC) and I remember that in the summer I had to put it at 2.8GHz because it got too much hot!
Winter: 32°C(idle) - 54°C (full load)
Summer: 53-55°C (idle). I didn't want to try at full load. lol
Anyway, remember that a PC CPU has got a huge cooler on it, while the SnapDragon hasn't got it and there isn't too much heat dissipation. Remember then that the SnapDragon is a mobile CPU that is supposed to work at a low temperature (PC CPUs are supposed to work at high temps) and it is supposed to NOT reach 45-50°C, so beware!
as far as the gps question goes... i use ALK's CoPilot 8. It's only $30 and is a full featured gps app. You get free live local search, free map updates and more. If you want live traffic info it's only $20 a year.

Telenav works great for me. I use for free. If you know some one that has an unlimited sprint account u can log in using there phone number and the pw is the last 4 of of the number.
I'm be more interested in undervolting and underclocking it. The standard voltage is what is needed for ALL the processor chips to work at the speed, however most can use less than that voltage and still do the same speed and be stable.
I undervoltage my laptops and it makes them run cooler and get better battery life.

we want it to actually run at 1ghz not 890 whatever. thats the main thing about the HD2 and Nexus. I waited for this to come out so i can get it mod it and run it at its full potential.
I have my LEO in the mail now or ordered any way. cant wait to get it. I want to see win 6.5 but im a bigger fan of android. I have modded all of my phones and Im a big HTC fan. Cant wait to see what this brings.
If your worried about battery life get an extended battery. As for heat, hey small price to pay for speed increases. Unfortunately until someone actually writes an app that can cpu scale, nothing can be assumed.

it already scales to 1ghz when it needs to. It can scale quicker than the OS can start opening programs, so say it is idling at 700, you click to start a program, it is already doing 1ghz by the time you release your finger from teh link.
It would be nice to push it over 1ghz, say 1.3-1.5ghz? Just a nice thought...

I rooted my G1 and installed CyanogenMod 6 because I wanted my phone to be as fast as this guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVeKboqn6LU
Problem is that mine isn't as fast as his. In Linpack I only get about 2.0 MFLOPS (average), but in the video he got like 3.5 MFLOPS and he said that sometimes it goes up to four. The highest I've seen mine go up to is 2.5. Also, there is a lag when I go to the home screen. It takes a few seconds to load. It doesn't feel much faster than it was before I rooted. So I'm a total noob at this. I just rooted my phone tonight following the directions on this board. Can you guys help me make my G1 faster?
Could try disapling dithering and enabling comcache / jit
Menu > Settings > Cyanogenmod settings > Performance (I think its in there)

To be honest our phones just don't have the horse power to be blazing fast. If you look, he is only using 1 widget and its hard to say exactly how he has it setup. Most of what he shows is just flicking back and forth. You should look at the 2 threads Firerat has going in the development section. Make sure you read at least the first post 2 or three times to make sure you understand what things do and why. Some things will speed your phone up some will not. A lot of this is just how it "feels" to you. Good luck.

He is using JIT probably with a High Swap Part also and a task killer and autokiller running in the back. JIT gives you high numbers on Linpack right around 4. Thats what I am getting on Speedteam Froyo V2.0 with JIT enabled.
Honestly, if you want a "fast phone", use Android 1.6
Hey thanks for the responses guys. I am now using SuperD and I love it. It is fast and I feel like I can use this phone for a few more months now.
Anyone else being unable to run Quadrant? I run Quadrant and it gets to the first graphics and after that the benchmark just cancels itself.
Yes, yes I know "benchmarks are useless". I still would like to be able to run it, though, and see what my $500+ phone can get

Quadrant Standard will not run on mine either.
Ran fine for me.
I ran it again; this time it got past the first graphics. However, it didn't finish; it canceled itself after the world.
Similarly, the graphics on the test were weird, such as the world was all gray instead of what it should be.
i got quadrant advance to run once after install but after that wouldn't work
I am using Quadrant Standard, just ran it a second time and it made it through again. I did notice that on some of the graphics tests the details are missing. For example, the planets are just grey orbs. Anyway, scored 1800 that time around.
same here
I did a restart once and was able to get through the full benchmark once, but the graphics were missing all details.
Otherwise, it usually stalls at database writing, then quits during the graphics section.
As the apps author notes in the description box of his app, the Nexus S is not yet supported as he needs to update his app to work better with Gingerbread.
Also answered this was answered in the stickied FAQ.

Q: Linpack/Quadrant Scores?
Linpack doesn't play very nicely with the Galaxy S lineup generating very low numbers in comparison to HTC devices. This is because the processors that are powering these devices operate in different ways. Does this mean the Nexus S processors are slower? Not really, just different. As for Quadrant, it doesn't currently work very well with Gingerbread and needs to be updated. The scores folks have been seeing though put it in the 1600 range without a modified kernel.

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
My stock nexus 4 used to shoot up to 1.512 GHz just by playing with my home screen. But I dropped it on the table when I rushed to pick up a call. The fall was relatively minor so I didn't care much. However it started to lag a little on my live wallpaper and apps, even typing now feels a little like I'm using a budget android phone (yes, you know how that feels like, the pain, the pain!!) It still works, its just a little slow and the clock speed is really bothering me.
Turns out my clock speed harbors around 1.134 GHz when I use it now And RAM is around 900 MBs when it used to be around 400 . Tried a factory reset, no changes. Tried to return, failed. Can you guys think of anything? Seriously, I will try any darn thing to fix it..

I'm pretty sure that this is not a malfunction but normal behaviour of MPDecision. When you use your phone normally, it won't immediately ramp up to 1,5 GHz but first to 1 GHz. What happens if you stress it a lot (try the app Stability Test)?
it only goes to 1512mhz when it needs to, otherwise itll stay at lower cpu speeds.

It went on for 5 minutes before the battery ran dry but it was the same... No change. And proof that there is something wrong. Look at the number of CPU runs, only 2! Before the drop, it would had been 20 over at least.

Before thanks to Butter UI I assume it would go to 1512 to make things smooth. Now it doesn't now so it lags very much. Even while playing games like temple run
2 the clock speed doesn't want to go any higher..
OK, anyone?
Should I root and flash a custom kernel and see? can I even repair this problem if I use my warranty?
