In general, no, but the few times where it wouldn't update, I just uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, which includes the updates.
hmmz good idea

Or try disabling the data connection and re-enabling it. It does the trick for me pretty well.

Having the market issue like a bunch of other folks and according to the help section in Android Market is suggests you sign into GTalk. Tried that and cannot sign in. Anyone else seen this and have a solution?
Hm, it seems like I'm having some problems logging into Gtalk also. Google servers seem to be having some hiccups today.

What is weird is that I am able to use Gtalk on my PC so I think its more to do with the phone then their servers.

Not sure what you mean by broken. I have it loaded and can browse around without issue although it is clearly not designed for tablets. I have also not posted anything using the app but can verify that it does install and can browse without a problem.
Won't Sync
I cannot get Facebook to sync. Anyone else have this problem? Application seems to work otherwise.

What do you mean by sync? Like the phone, add it to Accounts and Sync in the tablet settings? It is not showing for me here as it does on my phone. I do not think that will work until we get a Honeycomb version.
EDIT: Actually it does show when trying to "add account" but does nothing.
I can't use the FB widget. It's FCs on me when I drag it over to a screen.
As for FB/Google integration... there appears to be a fight between Facebook and Google. I guess Google patched up some type of exploit that FB was using to merge/link contacts. It's fine for HTC, TouchWiz, MotoBlur... but not with a direct Google experience device.
Just search Google for more info on this. I read only a paragraph or so and got bored of the politics behind it.
If I remember correctly, facebook is now blocking google from exporting numbers/pictures status's.
This was on the news somewhere

It still works on my Samsung Captivate though.
Same as others.. Can load the app and use it however trying to add an account to sych friends, as I've done on my D1 Droid, it blinks then does nothing. After doing this I've found occasionally the actual app then crashes, even with reboot, and must be re-installed to get it back.
I'm sure a native Honeycomb version will arrive in due time.. For now I'm just using TweetDeck which works great for various accounts including: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc.

Don't see it through Android Market, but if I search in AppBrain's market and then click the "Market" link, it takes me to it correctly in Android Market.
I don't need to use it, so didn't try installing, but usually when I can only get to it via AppBrain, it means the app is marked as being not compatible for some reason. Perhaps because the TF lacks cell capabilities?

Thanks for the suggestion of Appbrain. It did identify the app, however when I clicked on install i was advised "app could not be found". Looks like Asus/Google blocked it to try and stop people using their [WiFi] tablets as phones. Effin greedy telecoms. I already pay one cell bill so why should i pay a second to use my number?

Thanks for this. Unfortunately it won't work. The setup has a problem with configuring the voicemail settings as it can't communicate with the tmobile network. Additionally, when i try to call, one of my contacts, it can't do that as their is no dialler on my tab. Maybe if I install groove ip then it may work?

By itself it only works for texting. I use it with Groove ip and it works fine...ish.
You can get Skype for the Transformer. Although I prefer Google Voice to Skype.
Hi all,
I have a slight issue with the new google maps. Basically I have a gmail account which is linked to my domain (google apps). Now when I go into the "people" app, I can see my contacts have their address in their details. But when I open up the new google maps and search my contacts, it does not show my contacts address in the search bar.
Secondly (i think this is related to the same issue), if i try to use Google now "Navigate Home" command, it does not recognise my home address. It asked me to put in my home address and when I do that and click save I get an error that the address could not be saved.
Any idea what is going on with my phone? I have tried resetting the phone but it didnt help.
Thanks
2 things may be going on here. For it to work your contacts have to be associated with the same account as you're signed into maps with.
Second, I remember reading somewhere that it currently does not work with contacts associated with a business account.

Google rarely says "when" LOL. Here is where I spied that disclaimer...

While I don't have a business account, I have seen a number of complaints about this or that not working right with Google app accounts, and it seems that some of these have been going on for years... so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Sad times!
Thanks for the help though!
I can concur that if you have a google apps for business account it's not pulling in your contact details.
Why would they remove this???? it was working before the update.
I've been using Google Maps/Navigation to get to and from clients and now because I have a google apps for business account where all my contact details are saved.
Crazy!!

Growing pains. Google releases a lot that is unfinished. This is just another brick in the wall.
I don't think this was removed in the strictest sense of the word. I believe the old behavior looked in the local contacts data as i was previously syncing over iCloud, and it worked. After the update i had to change my syncing to Google Contacts online to get contacts from a maps based search.
Guessing this new behavior is more efficient as now both the places and contacts search are online.

Google maps seems to be working (i can look up my contacts addresses) in android 4.3 even though on the link you gave me it still says that google apps business accounts wont have this functionality. One thing which is annoying me now is that since I updated my phone to android 4.3, if i say "Navigate home" to google now, it doesnt work at all (before it used to ask me to tell where is home). it just shows me random results relating home (not mine) on google.
I remember reading that in another thread, or was that you?

In 4.3, I am still seeing no lookup of local contacts unless they belong to the same account that maps is logged in to.

If I do a search for one of my contacts they don't come up at all, just businesses or locations with a similar name (now just got to go into all my apps now and put in all the logins and passwords ......doh!!!)

I wasn't able to search for my contacts either. I had my web history turned off. When I turned web history on, they showed up on both the web based version of Google Maps, and the Android version of Google Maps. (I don't understand why this should be required.)
I have not tried this using a google apps account.
Hope that helps.

I've successfully got Play Store installed, after installing the four google service apps. I've allowed permission on everything except Google Service Framework Read/Write instant messages. Most of the google apps are working fine but I have problems with 2:
- Gmail: I cannot view or download any attachments
- Contact: I cannot sync any contacts
Is there any fixes or work around for this?

Also, contacts I can live without, but gmail attachment is very important. Any idea on that?
