Whats your spl info and all of that good stuff when you go to fastboot mode?
This is what i got when booting into Fastboot:

Have you guys checked if you have fastboot commands at all?
tried getting access to fastboot and couldn't
maybe I did something wrong
I really hope I dont brick my new Hero lol
I checked That unlockr site and it said there method did not work for CDMA Hero so im guessing the exploit was fixed in this software.
So we must now find a new exploit to get su?
I am also, patiently waiting. Hoping to have some of the big guys already working on this for us.

I'm also eagerly awaiting info on this. I know it's only been out for a few days, but two of my friends bought them and are anxious to gain root access. Mostly for tethering purposes.

Hmm, same here. I feel kinda stupid, haha. I've tried holding home+end and then back+end and neither work. Holding home+back+end actually does boot into fastboot but it immediately asks if I want to delete all my personal data, which scared the hell out of me so I just removed the battery for a sec then rebooted normally. When the screen is up though, it does show the exact same info that salamandar posted:

I wouldn't mind using my phone as a guinea pig if anyone has any theories or needs something tested. I just wish someone could get nandroid working on this beast. Using one of the backup apps in the Market will work for now though, just in case.

Has anyone tried this method? I don't think my SD cards are supported. Can someone with another brand give it a try? I read somewhere that people have had success using Kingston cards.
Downgrading to an EU Hero ROM is probably one of the quickest ways to brick your shiny new toy!

I'm not sure about Android phones, but didn't you brick your phone (permanently) if you flashed a WinMo CDMA phone with a GSM rom?

I would SERIOUSLY think about this before you try, if this works (goldcard etc.) you will be flashing THE WRONG SPL to your phone and you will probably brick it....
If you want to try, be my guest, but i'd wait for other meaning of rooting (several people are looking at this currently....)

Go right ahead I'm sure it will work and you won't brick your phone. Just imagine how good it will feel, you being the first to root a CDMA Hero.

hi guys, I'm trying to a few days tohave root with my htc magic 32b,but iys impossible, I read and tried all the guides, without success...
my android its 1.6 donut, but Now I realize that it's easier to have root with Android 1.5...the problem its: how can I restore the firmware 1.5? and where can I find this firmware for Magic 32b?
please help me

Follow link and get the SAPPIMG.nbh. Put on sd hold down volume and power to power on. Hit the track ball , reboot.

i put the file .nbh in sdcard, i restart the phone with power and hold down volume, i accept the update with the sapping.nbh, when finish the updating, write "model ID incorrect" and "update fail", i reebot the phone, and its always donut 1.6..........grrrrr......
i prove one other time....same result-----model id incorect etc etc.....

Don't spam for answers please.
An RUU is not avaliable for Vodafone Branded Magic's. All updates are from Google and then sent to vodafone to be delivered over the air (OTA), HTC plays no part in creating updates for these devices.
If your search around I'm sure you will be able find Android 1.6 for your Vodafone Magic.

cant unroot to 1.5
cant flash a recovery
it's looks like that the phone is locked for flashing
and all the steps to flash with goldcard, its for me not to do,, my english is not soooooooooooooo good
i hope there is a program or a step by step to flash this phone's

i have the phone now for 2 weeks and searching for root stuff...
i was looking and looking and searching and i saw you can change your SPL
to a other one and the one that makes it a 32A phone and then you can change the with roms

yes i know,but before to flash spl or rom, you must unlock/ or have to root at your htc.....this is the problem....
its very difficult with the perfect spl and donut 1.6 on the htc magic...

iaio72 you must be trying to spoof everyone. I gave you details instructions on the board and in a PM on how to root, downgrade and even put an engineered spl on your phone, what is the deal here ?

IAIO what you need to do is get the t-mobile Mytouch NBH and make a gold card - then you wont have the mainversion error - but dont ask how to make a gold card - SEARCH and READ and LEARN and quit spamming

Okay, I managed to get root on it.
But if I understand it correct, recovery gets overridden every time I do a reboot, right?
Is there a way to fix this? Do I really have to downgrade? Are there any good instructions how to do this?

I got an error once. Yup. It was an error. And it didn't work. Yup... and error and it didn't work. But I fixed it. No more error. Yup... all fixed.

If your device is the 3.5mm headphone jack version then you MUST flash the S-OFF recovery and a G recovery (not H).
No, it's the one from Vodafone, without a headphone jack.

Sorry, I normaly use a HTC Desire with Oxygen, so the Magic is new to me and I was a little surprised how hard it is to get a custom rom on it.
It's a HTC Magic, Vodafon branded with the latest Update:
Android 2.2.1

I have to send phone back to sprint. so far I flashed the s-on zip file and that worked but my bootloader 2.10 is not recognizing/ not loading the PC136IMG.zip. what is going on?

I followed the 2 step unroot process and was successful getting s-on but only after I downgraded the radio. I have the PC36IMG on the root of SD card but when it scans, it shows it but then quickly says no image or wrong image.
I realy need some help and appreciate and helpful advice.
