Another root topic... - G2 and Desire Z General

So just to get this out in the open. I am a computer networking guy. New to the cell phone area. But I want to help with the rooting effort for what seems to be the uncrackable G2. Anyone out there willing to take me under their wing?

Read the wiki first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision
If you have any more questions, ask on the IRC channels. Most people on this forum have the technical skill of a sea urchin.

Hahah. Thanks. Read the wiki. At work now so I'll jump on IRC when I get home.

Overclocking

Can someone please help me. I'm trying to overclock my g2, but it keeps failing. I'm new to rooting and adding and all that. I followed the youtube video instructions to the T and its saying failed. Please help me, so this phone doesn't become a paper weight like my mytouch. Any step by step help, would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this. Thanks alot

If you do brick your phone, with its heft it should make for a much better paperweight than your mytouch. I think you'll be happy with its function as such.
Refer to the oC thread in the development section. Read the first page and if you need to most of the thread.

You did at least look here right?
This same topic was addressed last night in this general forum. You should have searched. But because I'm such a good person here.
I'll link you everything you need.
the module you'll need is here. It's the "Binary (OTA 11/03)" file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8715636&postcount=1
The gscripts are here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9063932&postcount=5
Read this to know what the scripts do. Dont download any files from there just read the text.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8716108&postcount=24
Also download gscript off the market. It's free.
And last just see the video in my link. The first script you'll wanna push is the cpoc file.
EDIT: take a look at the youtube video in the first link, towards the end it will tell you what to set the SetCPU setting as. If you're cheap and don't wanna buy SetCPU you'll be surpirsed to know that XDA members get it free. I won't tell you where you can find it. Learn to search for things using google.

Root progress?

So I'm new to the whole rooting scene I have been studying these forums amongst other places anyway the real in depth stuff is over my head. I guess my real question is from someone who knows what there talking about, what's the progress on the perm root? What's the big obstacle now besides the obvious anti root thing and when may we see some results? Is this truly imposible or will we have a true perm root soon?

The progress is happening over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision
Thanks this gives me more info than I had on what is devolping, but still doesn't answer the questions like when, and they way this guy is talking it sounds like this perm root may not happen

Please use the search and browse the forums. There are TOO MANY posts on this already... Duck, flaming incoming...
Maybe that's the problem to much stuff to sort through a lot of posts are nonsence anyway no sence arguing just thought a few good valid answers would be great then could be deleted for all I care but I guess that's to much to ask for on a [email protected] forum wow

That would be Q&A Forum. What is a Q at A Forum?
I say WOW to that!!!!
The internet is really a hostile place.
The douche bags, the self-importants, the know-it-alls love it.

Don't forget the "I'm too important to spend time reading and searching for the answers I wan't so I'll just post duplicate threads and then get mad when I get flamed."

Should it be possible w/o a smart card, it'll be ready when it's ready. People should know better than to ask devs for a release date when they're not directly employing them.

Looks like we have Root!
Being discussed now in IRC!
http://irclog.netripper.com/?chan=G2ROOT
Way to add to this thread guys one good actual response the people complaing about multiple theads just fill them with junk trash talk on forums when people are trying to get answers doesn't sound productive to me. And why should I not ask about progress? That's offensive, what get off your high hourse if you can't answer a question just don't say anything. Why fill with crap no one thinks your cool by doing that

Ironic the day after I try to get solid answers on this topic a real root happens the very next day woooooooooo check out the devolpment section real root is here yeaaaa

did rooting give us access to the 4GB?

like the title sez
tks
No, I just started a think tank on the development section. I basically just asked this and I'm hoping we'll get some brains on it...

tks and typing so this will post

Perm root video

No offense to anyone...and I know root has been out for only a day. But you'd think that a video on how to root on our G2 would be out. It is frustrating to see everyone talk about issues or what not and no one has done a word on a video. Or some kind of better step by step.

Are you stuck at a step? Or have you not attempted? Both of the stickied guides in the development forum are pretty concise. I prefer the rage method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228
There are plenty of us that are happy to help with specific problems; most of them have been caught and answered already.
Haven't done a thing yet. I am more visual learner than reading it seems...Idk...just find it rather frustrating that no one has done a vid. Guess I may just rush it tonight

i wanna root my g2 eny hlep?

i saw g2 legal update but i dont isntalled because i want cyanogenmod eny root file yet?
A quick look through the topic titles in the development subforum (or even in this one) would've told you that yes, there is. Including stickied guides, etc.
*Kicks the XDA dog* Damn search bar must be hidden again.
Judging from your linguistic skills, I'm not sure you'll be able to acomplish anything as far as electronic items.
