Hey Everyone. This is my first time starting a new thread, but a recent release got me interested.
Yesterday, Skype released Skype Mobile for Android. Yee Haw, right?
Wrong. It's only for Verizon. My personal opinion, that's dumb.
I've got a Sprint HTC Hero, and I would *LOVE* to have Skype on it.
Is there anyone out there who's freaking awesome and is planning on developing a work-around for the Verizon-only bit?
If so, I beg you, PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED!
Thanks in advance!
I remember having an official Skype program on my phone shortly after I got it. It was chat only, though. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm guessing that they check which carrier you are on and block it to any carrier that doesn't want it used on their network. I'm guessing Sprint would lose out on their international plans if Skype Mobile with VOIP was allowed.

I can call any place the world from this Skype app on my phone to PC!!! It dials a local # and then connects to the user on computer just fine!
Hi I'm not as knowledgeable. How do you download the app to
HTML:
phone and install it? Also, what are the chances that it will run on n1 on T-Mobile network? Thanks in advance.
You are the best @heroid007 !!
I have the software, but I think it is totally different from windows mobile. I think we are being charge locally when we make calls unlike winmo.

would changing your ROM/build allow you to use the Verizon version of skype to make call?
your saying they block apps based on phone carrier, is that determined by the pre-loaded ROM/ just a code that the market reads to determine the apps that are shown or is it a hardware thing?
i was reading that new build had access to all app.
sorry im still new to the ROM thing.

It use 100pr of cpu, that's not good. (HTC DESIRE)
maybe is other solution for skype?
something odd that i've noticed is withthe 2.2 market skype doesn't even appear, but on a 2.1 rom it does.
Search Google for ( "index of" com.skype.android.lite.apk ) it works on other carrier phones and can run on WiFi (vzw dont). Would upload but not anywhere near home.

Hey, I might be getting a Nook soon, and I has wondering, would it be worth my time to try and port the HTC Flyer ROM? Due to hW diffs?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA Premium App
Perhaps ask yourself these questions:
1) Are you able?
2) Does this particular ROM offer anything compelling beyond stock Honeycomb? If not, might your efforts not better aid other efforts to bring stock HC to the NC?
You might ingratiate yourself with other developers and tinkerers (among whom I cannot count myself) by providing more details about your aims and your capabilities, especially after you peruse these forums to ascertain the number and scope of existing projects.

if it doesnt offer anything over stock HC than help port HC first
or at least if you dont want to port that than you should port the Gtab UI(idk what it is called) because it offers a better tablet environment on a stable 2.2 base
I think a sense rom would be badass.
please port asap.

It's not that we doubt his skills, but if it can't be done, it just simply cant be done. I heard that is wasn't possible to port the HTC Sense roms to non-HTC devices. But I am not a developer.

Samsung galaxy phones have had a sense port and so have other non-htc phones. It just takes alot of time and you MUST have the source code from both the source device and destination device, and patience.

well last time i checked the motorola droid had sense running but the radio didnt work(so no calls or data)
i think if he is going to port the rom than it should work but it will take alot of work
it should be a lot easier on a tablet. no radios or 3g data to deal with.
I'm dying to get the OnLive APK on the flyer, if you could send it to me it'll be great... btw ppl its a free apk so no stealing here loo

Noob here, and maybe a noob suggestion. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
You said that your wife's phone got to install the apk. Couldn't you use ES File Explorer or something to back up the app and get the apk? I think you don't need root to be able to do that.
If you do manage to get it, I hope you share the apk here too. The Android market doesn't want to play nice with any of my devices when it comes to the Halo Waypoint app.
Thanks!
I've been trying some different things ill see if i can try that.

Its really disappointing that they hype this all over and they release it 8/10 customers cant download and use it. They hype it for months and never say that it couldn't run on single cores. Still trying to figure something out

Come it on Htc Hd2 ?

Yo
HTC One X kicks HD2 very deeply in the ass. Sense will never work on HD2 smoothly like on HTC One X. Go find some work, earn money and buy a good phone.

Why reopen an old thread unnecessarily in order to post a rather stupid response (buy a new phone is hardly useful to him, the first part might have been but there's no need to be a twat about it) and clutter up the forum?

I already stated this just a few posts above, but please don't unnecessarily reopen old threads, even if you're trying to get 10 posts. Try wherever possible to use your knowledge to help people with problems they have right now, rather than ones solved months ago
Install "Go Launcher EX".
Go and search "HTC Sense 4" in market (Play Store).
Enjoy.
It's not sure yet. DEVs are working on this. Hope they will pass some basic hurdle. But yes it's booting you can find ICS sense 4 in DEV section. It's not for daily use but you can flash it and see how it looks.
Helpe!

As Kam said, reading and searching would easily have given you the answer. Just follow the guide in my sig to flash NAND Android, it's very simple.
You've got still Sense 3.5 on EnergyROM by NRGZ28
While I was surfing the internet aimlessly as usual , I thought to check gsmarena.com for the latest mobile news...etc
I found something interesting, In the CDMA Wildfire (AKA, Bee) I pressed the compare button and chose the normal GSM wildfire (buzz). In the android version the buzz was upgradable to android 2.2 froyo BUT THE BEE WAS UPGRADABLE TO 2.3 GINGERBREAD !!
Aren't they supposed to be the same phone but with different radios ?
A message to HTC: WTF ?!!!!!
Another thing, anyone knows what's the HTC sense version of the gingerbread bee ? Any RUUs available ? maybe it will be easier to port it from an almost similar device
If u wanna check by yourself, click here
Man. I am surprised. Did not even know that a cdma wildfire existed till now. Great to see an upgrade of 2.3 sense upgraded os.

these bees surprise me more and more. even though i am in the uk i am actually considering getting one of these just to f**k with it and see what it can really do. maybe even be able to port a recovery and cm7 to this device. cant be that hard surely. and ive seen the prices used on ebay for about £30 or so but they wont post outside the us :/ i am aware that the call/text functions wont work outside the us but the wifi would still work so maybe i could get this mysterious gingerbread update as well. thoughts?
oh, and ive only been able to find one ruu and i tore it to pieces only to find that its stock 2.2.1
I remember when i was looking for a way to get gingerbread on my wildfire (LOL it seems like it was the stone age then ) I read that someone had his wildfire on gingerbread out of the box.
Till yesterday i was saying "either he's a complete noob or an epic troll" .
Now I knew what he means, he had the Bee an he didn't know the difference between the Bee and the Buzz.
