Just discovered this on my app in the Developer Console last night.
Here is the official explanation from the Android Market Help:
The recent changes feature provides an opportunity for you to add notes about the changes specific to the newest version of your application. Use the recent changes field to inform your users about the changes in your application.
Recent changes are linked to each app version, so with each update, you must submit items to the recent changes field. We recommend that each recent changes update is specific to the app version; previous changes will not be displayed to the user at this time, but may be visible in the future. Furthermore, the recent changes field (unlike the app description) have no impact on the search index, i.e. it will not impact the search results for your app.
In the Market app, these notes will appear under the app Description as "Recent changes".

nice new features, it is a must for a market app..

Great addition!!
This is great! Over time, you won't have to search for changelogs anymore.
I've noticed this for a while now, the light gray area below the description will show changelogs. It was always frustrating when devs had to place them in the description field, or just ignored it altogether.
Now if they'd only let you filter out ****ty developers. That's the main thing I'd like to see.
This change screwed up my market app.
No more programs downloaded from market show up.

All my downloads disappeared from the market a few days ago. When I do a market search for an app I have installed it lists it as installed. I uninstalled a one app and reinstalled and my downloaded apps reappeared!

Hello all,
The FULL Market is now online! Just open up your browser on your tablet and go to https://market.android.com/ (don't forget the s in https) Then sign in and you'll be able to download and install any app from the Market! (I have done several searches for apps that usually don't show up and they were all there!)
While on a PC, you can't download to the PC, but you can browse the Market on the PC and click install and some how Google finds your tablet and installs it.
Tesla
Edit: I just noticed it does a compatibility check, so maybe not all apps. I believe you have to have the Market installed on your tablet.
yeah its pretty good. although it has a rather striking simularity to Appbrain. I hope that google bought into their product and integrated it rather than pretty much rip it off.

But what is nice about Google's is that almost all the apps are downloadable.. even the ones that don't show up in the Market app. With AppBrain and AndroidZoom, if the app didn't show up in the Market app, then it wouldn't download.
It looks the same as the Google Market App.. I don't think they ripped it off.. unless the new Market was based on AppBrain??
Where does it download the apk to? I tried installing an app via the web Market in Dolphin HD. The downloading symbol appeared in the notification bar for a few seconds, then disappeared, and that's it. Nothing else, and can't find a downloaded apk anywhere... It did a compatibility check before downloading, and my archos came up in the list of devices I could install to...
@fisha21
After you have found downloading symbol then open Market app. It will install app for you.

D'OH! And thank you
has anyone else noticed that the google market website has suddenly stopped listing their archos even though it listed it previously?
It still shows my HTC Desire when I go to my market account in the top right and click on the settings tab, but no longer lists my archos 101? (I am logged into the archos using the same google account).
it used to list it but with some details missing from certain fields.
I have gappsforarchos v4 Market installed, and the archos is rooted with archangel v2, (I have tried 'market enabler' but it made no difference.)
I dont know if its relevant, but I re-did the market fix (where you delete the market cache etc) the other day, maybe this effected it?
My Archos 101 showed up last night and I just checked now and its still there.
Don't know what you did!

Yes I've had my device show up one day and disappear after the market fix.

It showed after the market did an automatic update. But when I fixed the market again that was needed after the upgrade it disappeared again.
I managed to get it back when I did an uninstall upgraded version in the apps management.
Anyway I hate the market website it can't even show what apps are installed it will show apps that where installed even when they where removed afterwards. I rather use appsbrain that site seems to be stable and you can manage your own devices/lists.
My online market was able to see my A70 up until this morning when i installed the new firmware. I did the market fix 5 times, but it doesn't seem to be working. And now I can't even install from the web market.
Anyone know a solution. Is there a new market fix that works better?
Umm I know it's recommended to actually go to the new market site (including the "s") but is there a .apk for it instead?? I'm just asking if anyone knows of a new .apk for it cuz for me it would be simpler.
Side question: Is this "new" Full Google Market site the newly updated gApps V5 or is it more like a new V6? I have aApps V5 and all of a sudden I noticed a few days ago the whole look of the Google Market when I click on my Market Apps icon was a little different. The area near the search bar at the top changed from all green and white-to all gray with a different font. This new look of the Google Marketplace is what I see when I click on my Market App icon, not the website.
In my market, it says i have all these apps not installed. But they are all installed. When i click on them it doesnt say install, it says open. The apps run fine n are in my drawer. Is there a way to fix this? Its just really annoying when my "Pro" keys arent being used. Like, titanium backup says im using the free version when i have the pro version installed, same for my launcher pro key.
Sent from the Darkside of the Atrix.
EDIT: can this be moved to the Q&A section, accidentally put in general. Thank you.
Same thing with me... google maps, youtube, and a few others are in the Not installed section, but when you select them it says installed, and you only have the option to open. I'm assuming they are still being checked for updates when I open Market... at least I hope they are. More annoying than anything else. Any thoughts?
Open up the "Manage Applications" and find Market. Clear the cache and reopen. Should show up now. Had to do that on mine.

I have the same problem, and agree it is annoying.
It started happening when I did a titanium backup after unlocking. So I guess there must have been some problem syncronizing with market after.
I have solved the problem by uninstalling the applications that were listed as needing updates even though they were already updated. And when reinstalled, the notification went away. It's not a very elegant way of fixing the problem, I know.
If anyone else has a better solution, please advise.
I learned this method from another forum (can't remember where); it always works for me:
Exit all applications on the phone
Home > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Market: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Google Services Framework: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Reboot your phone
Open Market app and Accept the TOS
Market > Settings > Content filtering > Set level > Show all apps (OK)
Market > My Apps: no more missing apps, or false positives for updates
I've tested this many times with the new Market app on my AT&T phone in both stock GB and piCRUST. It always fixes the display of installed apps within the Market app itself. But the list of apps showing on the Market web site under My Account (https://market.android.com/account) may not be immediately updated with the results. Sometimes the Market web site will be updated later rather than sooner, or only partially rather than completely. But this local fix will usually affect the web listing to at least some degree.
(Space reserved for future rant on market web site lameness...)
Did it, now i get a server error everytime i open the market. Just reinstall apk of new market?

I see that error occasionally after using this fix, but I also sometimes see it after re-flashing the phone, and after other seemingly unrelated actions. It usually goes away for me if I just turn on wireless first before opening the Market app (no need to reinstall it). I think it's related to some error in the app or settings initialization, and not specific to this clean-up routine or anything else.
And yes, I've found that using a task killer also seems to help. Maybe indicative of another app blocking the Market from opening correctly at first run? I don't know, but once it goes away it doesn't seem to come back.
Thanks, this worked flawlessly.
Could I suggest you add "Solved" to the title of this thread so others that might have the same issue could use this?

One other thing that will confuse the Market about what's kosher: using a non-standard LCD density.
In my case I had hard-coded build.prop to set ro.sf.lcd_density=300 and ever since I did that the Market website kept telling me that most of the apps I'd previously installed were not compatible with my Atrix 4G(!) My workaround was to revert to the default ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and then use the "LCDDensity" app to temporarily set it to 300. Whenever I need to go to the Market for something I just reboot the phone first and it reverts back to the default setting in build.prop.
If you've got it the other way around (e.g. build.prop is using a non-default setting, and you're using LCDDensity to override this back to the default), then that might explain why you're seeing this Market mischief return on reboot.
Even if you're not using LCDDensity (or you're using something else like "LCD Density Changer" which can make these changes permanent), you might want to check your current LCD density. Ditto for other property settings that might not be using their defaults.
Here's a list of all the things that the Market looks for to determine if a particular phone is compatible with an app:

Hi all,
I have a Bell Atrix and I always have the blank my apps list issue with any Blur based Gingerbread ROMs. I found that removing the Preset app fixed my problem. So I put a small app together to scan the market database to compare the list of market recognised installed apps to the available apps in the market. Users can then remove apps and the market association in the market database.
If possible, can I please have someone to help me test this app? Also, I'd imagine this app should work with any gingerbread running phones with the same problem.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer
Steps:
1) nandroid backup then start the app
2) Click on Load Market Data (and wait for it to finish)
3) If the app found anything, it will be added to the list
4) Select apps from the list and click on "Del Checked Entry" to delete them
5) Uninstall window will show for the selected apps, click on Uninstall
6) Open the market again, wait a bit and see if the list shows.
Thanks!!
Update1:
I found that Android Market, when starting from scratch (after deleting all the app data), downloads a list of all the apps you have ever associated to your account. If you have ever used TiBu (or the like) to associate apps you shouldn't have associated to the market, and still have the app installed, you will start to have the market problem after wipe.
Update2:
I believe the version 3.5.15 market has made this app obsolete. You can find the download link in the post below
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-play-store-apk-3-5-15/
Update3:
Uploaded version 2.0.0, for anyone still wanting to remove market links in the new market.

Worked as stated. Nice to have this feature back. Thank you for your work and sharing.
Glad to hear this is working! cheers!
Ken218, thank you for this app.
After I ran "Load market data," a bunch of apps (meaning way more than I'd like to count) showed in the list, but nothing was checked.
Expected?
If so, how do I identify troublemakers from the list?
This is on a Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, running Calkulin's ROM, v2.8.1.
Thank you again.
Holy s***! This works! Thank you!!
There were three apps found, none were checked, so checked them and uninstalled them, market working perfect now! You rock!
Oh and this works on stock ICS 4.0.2 (galaxy nexus gsm) so you can add this to your compatibility list.
Need to sticky this in every device forum.
Thanks again!!
holy sheep **** you are a mad genius this worked for me i have a rooted unlocked motorola photon running rocko rom joker kernel and a fistful of tweaks and my apps are listed again in the market major thanks for this
you will need to manually check every app... I will add a "select all" to the list when I update the app.
Genius........that works perfect on ICS 4.0.3 rooted Iconia 500.
I then reinstall the delete apps.
Thank you so much
I had com.motorola.contacts.preloaded as faulty app. Maybe market acts sensitively when using AT&T-Rom on INT'L Atrix in non-default locale.
Wow, thank you very much. I had tried everything before this to fix this problem, and had given up on seeing it working again.
Well done.

On more thing. Is there any way to get the market to stop showing apps from Amazon's AppStore as "Purchased" in the market? There's a few I've gotten from the Free App of the Day that I'd like to purchase on the Android Market but am unable to because it says "Install" instead of "Purchase". When I go to install them it says something like "Cannot install because you haven't purchased it." Thanks again!

That doesn't work. It registers the app as purchased. Same thing happens with cracked apps. If you installed one and upgraded to the latest market, you'll never be able to purchase the app again off the android market.

There is a workaround, but it involves some messing around:
1) Uninstall targetted app
2) Freeze market auto-upater
3) Downgrade your market to 2.2.6, run market
4) search for chosen app (Don't go to my apps, that doesn't seem to work anymore)
5) buy app
6) restore new market...
7) ???????
8) Profit!
Ken you should add some cache feature.
I've deleted apps one by one to find the trobulemaker, but after every uninstall I've had to rescan again - with <10 apps it doesn't take too much time, but if search results can be stored within MarketFixer it'd speed up the whole process
EDIT: Thank You very much, market fixed (at least for a while )

There are a lot of things in my list which are part of my ROM (Keis Air, for example).
There are also many Android Market apps for which a Market Search turns up no hits (Super Froggy and Twidroyd Pro). I guess these apps have been retired....?
At any rate there are probably 4 dozen things in my scanned list, and I'm nervous about whacking them. Any advice, sir?

I'd assume you used TiBu to fix market link? Because components formed part of the ROM (Certificate Installer, Cell broadcast, etc) won't be attached to the market.
I'd say wipe the market and let it rebuild its database first (by starting the market app and let it sync/download all the things automatically).
Like you said, it is possible that some of the apps you have are retired. Also, during my tests, I found some apps where the developer decided to change the package name (xe currency) so the market became broken (doesn't cause the blank market problem though).
In the case of Atrix (and possibly other motorola devices), removing "Preset" is all its needed to fix the market.

It's really a one time thing with each pre-installed app that has an update available in the market. If you go to "Play Store > My Apps > All" they will likely be grouped at the bottom of this list.

Thanks for reply. I did looked into the 'All' list but it shows only the apps that I've installed via Play Store not the apps built in. I clearly remember my GN2 showed updates even for the pre installed when I switched it on for the first time.
So is this a normal behaviour in Nexus devices, and if yes, I'll actually need to open the app's respective page and then hit 'Update' from there?
Thanks

Hello,
My apologies if this is a LAME question but I have about a weeks experience on Oreo on this new S8. The phone is a "U1" unlocked variant with NO carrier bloatware if that means anything.
It originally came with an early version of Oreo and I started to install apps and such. Got a prompt to install a newer Oreo update so I let it do so overnight. The version installed is 8.0.0 Samsung Experience 9.0, the last Oreo update before Pie. The next day I noticed that some of the apps that used to be in the apps drawer were now missing in action!
Thanks,
Steve
I finally figured out how to "unhide" the system apps and found them still alive and well in the settings /apps menu. So this prompts the generic question - How does one add or remove what apps show up in the app drawer? There is currently one that I would like to remove and a couple that I would like to add. So far internet searching has been unproductive.

Thanks, but I already figured this much out. Here are a couple of more specific examples.
I used to have either downloads / download manager accessible in the app drawer before the software update. Now they show as hidden System Apps in app manager but are no longer showing in the app drawer and can't be launched from the settings / apps (or at least I can't figure out how). Tapping on the app doesn't launch it only goes into the particular app settings/properties. Same thing for the My Files app. All of this happened after a system software update. Samsung thought that they had to clean up the UI some more... UUGGGHHHH!
I accidentally hit the Galaxy Themes app from one of the settings screens and didn't find anything useful that couldn't live without. But now the Galaxy Themes app shows up in my app drawer! I don't need it, will probably never use it, and don't want it there. I guess that I could just hide it but would rather it not be there in the first place.
Thanks,
Steve

There should be a toggle in the options of the galaxy theme app that shows or hides the icon on the app drawer. Check there.
Click to collapse
Got that one! Thanks.
