What video format does the nexus one read and where on the sdcard do we put them? Also what format does the camera output too when finished recording video?

Don't know about the first question, but the camera outputs 720x480. Try recording a video and checking your sd card to see the format.
it natively reads H.263 (encode and decode) MPEG-4 SP (encode and decode) H.264 AVC (decode), and no doubt reads many others with apps downloaded from the market. I beleive on the SD Card put them in a folder called "Video". Not sure about what the video output format is but I do know it is compatible with Youtube Uploading.

what extensions do those equate to? avi? wmv? m4v?
avi, mp4, not sure about wmv.
Just to test, I downloaded the 720P video of "Elephant's Dream" in MP4 format. . . AMAZING quality. :-D
http://www.savevid.com/video/elephants-dream-hd-1080p.html Scroll down and download the MP4 version.
Link says 1080, but pretty sure the MP4 is only 720.
DivX???

Im using a Mac and will be using doubleTwist (Also on PC)
Because it syncs with my iTunes but you can just drop and drag videos and it will convert to the correct format you
It will even detect your device as a Nexus One
MP4 is simply an encapsulation method, many MP4s are just going to be incompatible. There are pretty fine settings needed to get it to work, but I believe you'll want to transcode movies to h.264 or h.263 for video and aac audio, in 480x800.
If you want to be sure you can view the Nexus' videos on your PC, set up a youtube account and upload them after recording. Then you can log into your YouTube account and download them as MP4 (h.264)

where do we put videos on the sdcard, i cant find anywhere to put it.
Hey Blueman... I just plugged in the sdcard and made a new folder called video and put some movies and music videos in there. Once inserted back into the handset they were in my gallery, was pretty easy.

what format?
I always codec my videos to mp4 or m4v... I have loads of videos I've converted for my Omnia HD which are mostly mp4 and divx.... haven't tried any divx yet but the mp4's play just fine.
In case anyone needs an awesome video converter the best one IMO is format factory, which is free and has tons of presets and is easy to use.

m4v's aren't showing up on mine, they play the audio, but the video is not there.

i'm getting the same thing from an mkv file i encode. i do have some other mp4's working, but can't figure out the settings to get every movie working. how annoying. just support more formats!
why arent avi's supported?
I recorded a movie with hd2 in mpg4 format.
And i wanted to put in on youtube, but there is a problem.
Movie recording in 60fps which makes a problem on YT uploading.
Tried to convert it to other format but most converting software speed up movie (possibly dropping frames as need to be a 25fps)
Any way to change FPS in registry for this format? Or change some option to record in 25FPS but still in mpeg4 format??
only i have hd2 in this forum?
last bump
have mercy
thanx for help
How did you get it to record 60fps?
I don't have that option on mine.
i belive its an auto option without setting switch.
If you check it with some editing software i says 60fps.
Youtube dont let u upload that format.
And thats why im lookin for a registry hack.
Sounds more like you have a corrupt file than an issue with settings as it isn't automatic. Mine is standard and reports between 13 and 29.99 frames a second...
Corruption is not possible, all my videos are recorded in this format
Hi, I've recorded few clips in H.264 mode and I've had the surprise that I can't play it on the phone or on the PC, with any video player. Does anyone have a solution?
I also have this issue, not even coreplayer plays the files.
What did you use to record them?
What settings did you use while recording them?

Hi rp-x1,
I just used the default HTC camcorder app using the H.264 capture format in the options.
The PC seems to think they're in 3gp format though, the file size would suggest so also but still strange that Coreplayer can't play them.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I used the camera from my HTC HD2 in H.264 mode, CIF resolution. I attach one of the files.
Anyone can help?
i just tried the h.264 mode myself. then when i want to play it, the phone says "loading", but nothing happens. i downloaded your file, not even vlc can play the files.
also, gspot cannot recognize the codecs used:
Admittedly it was a long shot but I just tried to convert the supposed .3g2 file into a playable format with Oxelon Media Convertor but even with the .3g2 plugin the file was 'unsupported'.
My guess is that this isn't the actual format of the file and that I've lost all recordings in that format.
So, there is any solution? I've lost my clips recorded in this format?
I thought that at least the one who posted the soft to unlock aditional recording formats will find a solution.
I have noticed that when I put videos that I have recorded on my droid x on my computer in the details the video was shot at about 15fps. I have the camcorder set to 720p hd and I thought it was supposed to 24fps. Does anyone know how to fix this. Also is there a way to change the video out put file from .3gp to .mp4. I saw you can alter the etc/media_profiles.xml but when I change the file to .mp4 it still outputs to .3gp. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks
How do I make camcorder record in mp4 format?
I noticed that some of my videos on some roms recorded in mp4 format while other roms recorded in 3gp format.
Does it depend on the rom or kernel im using? And is there any tweaks that can be applied to my Syndicate 1.2 to make it record in mp4 format?
Im making a dvd and there is not too many good programs that 3gp friendly and besides 3gp is inferior format.
Another question:I remember having option in galery or youtube app to upload a video to youtube,im on Syndicate and there is no such option anywhere.I did remove few apk's from /system/app folder anyone know what apk's are responsible for youtube uploads or Syndicate dont support it?
Thanx in advance.
